Boston Bruins History

Established in 1924, the Boston Bruins were the first American team to join the NHL. They won their first of six Stanley Cup championships in just their fifth season in 1929, defeating the defending champions New York Rangers. It was the first Stanley Cup championship to feature two U.S. teams. The Bruins added championships in 1939 and 1941, and between 1943 and 1958 they reached the final five more times.

After the arrival of future Hall of Famers Bobby Orr (a three-time MVP) and Phil Esposito (one of the greatest goal-scorers of all time and the first player to score 100 points in a season), the Bruins won Stanley Cup Championships in 1970 and 1972. The image of Orr flying through the air after scoring "The Goal" in overtime to defeat the St. Louis Blues in 1970 is one of the most memorable in hockey history.

On April 9, 2023, the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3, marking their 63rd win of the season and setting a new NHL record for the most single-season wins. They made history again on April 12 when they reached 133 points scored in a single season thanks to a 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals, besting the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens for the NHL team with the most points scored in a single season.

Twenty-nine straight appearances in the Playoffs followed — a record among all professional sports — including Stanley Cup Final appearances in 1974, 1977–1978, 1988, and 1990.

After a two-decade absence, the Bruins returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, defeating the Vancouver Canucks in a thrilling seven-game series behind the goaltending of Tim Thomas. To date, the Bruins have made 20 appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, including most recently in 2019. Legendary players who have worn the Bruins’ jersey include Hall of Famers Cecil "Tiny" Thompson, Eddie Shore, and Aubrey "Dit" Clapper.

    Horrible! Disappointing! Embarrassing!

    by p. B. on 1/12/20TD Garden - Boston

We have been going to the gardens for decades- thought we knew what to expect- BUT this time seats have changed drastically !!!! My husband is 5-8” 180lbs-I’m 5-4” 145lbs - 2 tiny teens— who did fit their seats- can’t say that for myself or husband nor for the person next to me!!!! I’ve had more room in a middle seat on an airplane in economy!!! This was a terribly expensive experience- sad to say our days of going to the “gardens” are over! The quest for the almighty $$$(addition of extra seats) ruined what used to be a fun special experience for us!

Had an opening in my schedule and grabbed a last-minute ticket to the game. So glad I did! Purchase was easy, seat was terrific, and the game was fantastic.

    Excellent time

by Nick on 12/6/19TD Garden - Boston

Great time! Very clean, bathrooms are kept up well. Plenty of room to move around concessions in between periods. Concessions are far too expensive though. However, my 8 year old son dropped his pretzel and a TD Garden security person had to tell the food server to get him a new one. Sad the man didn't offer him a new one. Very happy another employee stepped in when pretzels are over $5 each. I am glad hockey games don't have concessions people walking the aisles. Much more enjoyable to watch the game this way.

    Great game! Itty bitty seats!

by Jill F on 11/26/19TD Garden - Boston

The new seats at the garden could only be smaller if built for kids. At 5'6" the woman in front of me shouldn't be leaning back into my knees. They make the seats at fenway seem roomy and spacious. I won't be going back to Garden, not worth spending money for a seat you have to jam yourself into.

Last minute decision to go to the Bruins game. Got a great seat to a great overtime victory. An experience to remember forever!

    Good Game

by Galahad on 11/24/19TD Garden - Boston

I gave my wife, a big Bruins fan, tickets for her birthday. We had dinner next to the Garden and then went in and found our seats, where we surprisingly bumped into some neighbors who were a few rows in front of us. The seat were great, good sightlines of all the ice. The Bruins were a little flat the first period; they got better and won but it was scary for the last few minutes after Buffalo pulled their goalie. The new seats at the Garden aren't especially comfy. Reminded me of flying economy on Spirit or United. I know it's only for a few hours but folks go back and forth for beer and food and toes get stepped on, drinks get spilled. Takes away from the enjoyment of the game.

    Go Bruins!

by Lucky on 11/19/19TD Garden - Boston

As a birthday gift for my boyfriend, I bought us tickets for his first ever Bruins game. We were really excited to go. The mobile app was super easy to use and everything was great. Although TD Garden decided to take out all the seating to fit more seats, so now you're squished in with the people next to you. Not ideal, but still a great experience overall.

    Bruins v Flyers

by Vedra on 11/13/19TD Garden - Boston

Great game but the refurbished seats at the Garden are a real challenge. Many have already noted that elsewhere but it's worth mentioning - be prepared to be in tight space. Seats are definitely shorter and narrower than previous. We usually attend at least one B's game in Fall and one in Spring (same with Celtics) but I and my two companions will likely pass on going to another game this season because of the tight seats. By the way, none of us would be considered large. I am 5'2", medium weight, but with a down jacket and purse, there was no room to spare.

    Bruins vs Flyers

by Jay on 11/13/19TD Garden - Boston

Great events and seats. Only complaint when buying suite seats online I could not purchase 4 seats in a row of 4 that were available. I kept getting an error message stating I was leaving an open seat. This was not the case as there were only 4 seats in that row. Something you should probably get corrected.

A great time in a very fan friendly venue

by SBonner on 11/13/19TD Garden - Boston

This was our first visit to the Boston TD Garden as we are from Philadelphia and this was a hockey trip into “enemy territory”. The arena was very, very nice. I was concerned as we had balcony seats and I feared we would be in a nose bleed section. The layout of the stadium was such that the balcony provided a great view, and we loved our center ice seats. The arena was in a convenient location (busy of course at game time) but we got there early, had an excellent pre-game meal at A&B Burgers across the street, and had a wonderful experience. We parked at the Government Center Garage that was an 8 minute walk away but away from the arena congestion, so we got in and out fairly easily and stress free. It was busy, but you have to expect that, and easily addressed by arriving early. The Boston fans were very kind to the Philly visitors. We had a great time in a fun, safe location.

    Great game............new seats are small

    by C. A. on 10/29/19TD Garden - Boston

Bruins look like they are in mid-season form. The new seats in the Garden are definitely smaller than the old yellow ones.

I Love the Ticketmaster app and mobile tickets, it just makes things so simple and convenient. I also love when I buy tickets to a game and my favorite team wins. This was an awesome trip!

We had fourth row lodge seats and there wasn’t any leg room at all. YOU NEED TO FIX THIS
