Boston Bruins History

Established in 1924, the Boston Bruins were the first American team to join the NHL(Opens in new tab). They won their first of six Stanley Cup championships in just their fifth season in 1929, defeating the defending champions New York Rangers. It was the first Stanley Cup championship to feature two U.S. teams. The Bruins added championships in 1939 and 1941, and between 1943 and 1958 they reached the final five more times.

After the arrival of future Hall of Famers Bobby Orr (a three-time MVP) and Phil Esposito (one of the greatest goal-scorers of all time and the first player to score 100 points in a season), the Bruins won Stanley Cup Championships in 1970 and 1972. The image of Orr flying through the air after scoring "The Goal" in overtime to defeat the St. Louis Blues in 1970 is one of the most memorable in hockey history.

On April 9, 2023, the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3, marking their 63rd win of the season and setting a new NHL record for the most single-season wins. They made history again on April 12 when they reached 133 points scored in a single season thanks to a 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals, besting the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens for the NHL team with the most points scored in a single season.

Twenty-nine straight appearances in the Playoffs followed — a record among all professional sports — including Stanley Cup Final appearances in 1974, 1977–1978, 1988, and 1990.

After a two-decade absence, the Bruins returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, defeating the Vancouver Canucks in a thrilling seven-game series behind the goaltending of Tim Thomas. To date, the Bruins have made 20 appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, including most recently in 2019. Legendary players who have worn the Bruins’ jersey include Hall of Famers Cecil "Tiny" Thompson, Eddie Shore, and Aubrey "Dit" Clapper.

Great game and nice seats. The crowd was family like.

  • Hostile Environment in Tufts Family Section

by RozzieSq on 10/25/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Had tickets in Tufts Family Section. That didn't stop all the drunks around the children from threatening Canadiens fans, from dropping "F-bombs" every other word, or from general loutish behavior just because their team was losing. It was a great game, but the environment indicated that the Bruins do not care about the experience of families.

  • Bruins win

by FrenchCville on 10/11/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Great event, venue, seats, and outcome. Bs win in OT.

  • Love the B's, not the prices

by SPLSteve on 9/14/16Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

Love going to B's games, so much fun actually being there. But the ticket prices are getting out of control. $500 for a family of four in the nosebleed seats is insane, add another $100 for parking, drinks and snacks. Not as fun, but much cheaper to stay home or go to a bar and watch the game.

  • Lower Prices

    by Joespit1 on 4/11/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

Bruins games are over-priced. It costs $35+ to park, tickets are over-priced, once you get to the TD Garden, beers, food, everything you can possible purchase is insanely over-priced. Makes me want to stay home and watch the game.

  • Great Game!!

Even though the B's lost in overtime, the game was extremely fun! You must go if you are a Bruins fan!!! Even if you are not a big hockey fan, you will have the time of your life! These games are so fun and entertaining!

  • Bruins shine!

by Raggedygigi on 3/16/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

  • Bruins/Hawks, great game great seats

by KevinSean on 3/6/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The B's showed up to play. It was a great game, great seats, no drunks or trouble that I saw. Well done by all. I even got extra jalapenos on my nachos.

  • A fine night for hockey!

    by petty2010 on 3/6/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

A great game because the Bruins won!! Great energy in the Garden because the Chicago Blackhawks, the Stanley Cup Champions last year, were in town.

  • Really?

by PqLear on 3/2/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

My fourth Bruins game this year, fourth uninspired loss. Not going again until they understand the importance of stepping it up a notch in front of their own home fans.

  • Bruins

by GeeWowza on 2/25/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Bruins game in TD Garden - section 326 (Tufts Family Section). Great night out with my son. Entertainment value was great. Seats were great.

  • Way too much money!

by TheJackofBoston on 2/9/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

Great game except I was in the nosebleed section up top of the Garden after feeling like I paid the price for a suite. Didn't have any of the $12 draught beer because it was $12. There is no reason to pay ticket surcharges and fees for tickets that you should be able to pick up at the box office. Love the B's but can't justify spending $300+ to take my son to the game.

  • Awesome game!!!

  • First live NHL game

    by DBurb5 on 1/19/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

While in Beantown for the Dillashaw vs Cruz UFC Fight Night card I decided to get a ticket to watch the Bruins on the night before and I wasn't disappointed as it was a fantastic experience both the game itself and the interaction that American sports have with its fans.

  • Bruins were great (for 2 1/2 Periods!

by PMAEsq on 12/29/15TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

If you were a Bruins fan, you saw 21/2 periods of pretty good hockey. After that, not so much.
