About

BONOBO IN CONCERT:

Bonobo is constantly testing the boundaries of the ever-expanding landscape of electronica, pioneering new sonic territory with his downtempo, percussive style. Combining ambient sounds and lush synths, Bonobo creates a dream world for fans to escape to during his live shows, mesmerizing audiences with abstract tracks like “Kirra” and “Cirrus.” Whether he’s performing solo or with a 12-piece band, Bonobo will reward fans with his distinct sound and stunning visuals on 2014's The North Borders Tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Simon Green, a.k.a. Bonobo, got his start probing drum machines and producing music in his hometown in rural Britain. This sparked his passion to DJ full time, which included playing local gigs and releasing his 2000 debut Animal Magic under the moniker Bonobo. Since then, he’s collaborated with artists like Erykah Badu and Grey Reverend (Cinematic Orchestra), performed at the world-renowned Coachella festival, and played sold out shows worldwide. The North Borders Tour 2014 will be just as electrifying as Bonobo treats fans to old favorites alongside new tracks from his 2013 fifth studio release.

Bonobo starts a band - but not on my watch!

by mf896 on 4/5/10Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

To be fair, I arrived late and so don't know if a disclaimer was offered at the start of the show. But the one man danceable DJ that regularly rotates through my exercise mix was notably absent. Instead a six-piece band reminiscent of sound tribe sector 9 jammed out, while a female vocalist added lauryn-hill-esque lyrics. After a few moments of confusion, I sought confirmation from the CD vendors: was this actually Bonobo? Amazingly, I got conflicting answers! From his own sales crew!! And then a distraught fan appeared to my left, lamenting the loss of his beloved Bonobo, replaced by a downer jam band. A few more queries confirmed that it was in fact the band we'd come to see, but wearing a totally different hat - and certainly not one i would have dragged four friends out to see. The bottom line: happy for Bonobo to take a turn and start a band, but you must give your audience some warning! And in the very least - make sure the venue is well informed.

    Bonobo was amazing!!!

    by thedude716 on 4/4/10Tralf - Buffalo

The show at Tralf Music Hall in Buffalo NY was ridiculous. The setting was cool, and the people were into the mood of the music. Even the two openers were really good and helped set the mood for when Bonobo played.

Really impressive, the 8 piece band was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

    Bonobo, Big Gigantic=Big Sound

by LoloQ on 7/28/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

I bought the ticket to see Bonobo, but would gladly have paid to see Big Gigantic! They were both amazing and well worth it! The Ogden was a great venue for the experience!

the ogden sucked and bonobo was ok

by RoscoStJames on 7/27/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

Due to worker incompetence, the Ogden staff provided the worst concert experience of my life, and Bonobo is better when he doesn't act like a jam band!

    Welcome

by ElCorazon on 7/24/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

Thank you all for making the voyage across the pond. I enjoyed your show and would be excited to see you play again. I would really like to see a hybrid show with more electronic beats. Next time, drop the bomb, Simon. Anyhow, please come back, love your music.

Hope Bonobo Returns to Denver Soon!!!

by Chibiest on 7/24/09Ogden Theatre - Denver

I wasn't sure what to expect since this is my first time seeing Bonobo live but I was greatly surprised. The live band was stellar as was the accompanying vocalist. I truly hope Bonobo saw the love that the crowd had (I certainly could feel it from the intense energy and rumbling of the upper level) and returns to the Mile High City. I thought his music is genius on CD but it's even better live! How is that possible???? If they came back next month and every month after, I would be quite the regular at the Ogden!
