BONEY JAMES IN CONCERT:
Legendary sax man Boney James is a model of stamina and endurance, consistently wowing fans with his nonpareil virtuosity and herculean performances. Taking the stage with his trusty Selmer Mark VI saxophone, James eschews the placidity of smooth jazz in favor of a bombastic playing style, and whether he's leading call and response with his band or tearing through an epic solo he never fails to bring the house down. Billboard named him their No. 3 Contemporary Jazz Artist of the Decade, and fans lucky enough to catch him on his upcoming tour will be left with no questions as to why.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Massachusetts-born James Oppenheim, a.k.a. Boney James, began playing clarinet at age eight, switching to saxophone two years later. In his teens, he was introduced to Motown and jazz saxophonist Grover Washington Jr., leading him to join a fusion band when his family moved him to Los Angeles at age 14. Following stints as a session player for acts like the Isley Brothers and Teena Marie and a featured role playing in Morris Day's band, James released his solo debut album Trust in 1992. Since then, he has released more than a dozen albums, selling more than three million records worldwide and earning a number of accolades including a Soul Train Award and two NAACP Image Awards. Back on the road, he'll draw from his decade-spanning catalog to deliver fans an unforgettable night of virtuoso sax playing.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Unbelievable! A non-stop wonderful show for almost 2 hours. Boney seems almost unreal in how long he can hold a note. Don't miss this!"
"Boney James is a great performer. He came off of the stage and danced with the audience, and he played to both sides of the stage. He sounded great and his band was fantastic."
"Boney James did what Boney does. He rocked the place. Great concert. Would go again next week if they played."

The venue was awesome! Really nice theater for events! Boney James was fantastic.
I took my dad to see Boney James it was an amazing concert. I can't wait to see him again.
Although the performances were great. I did not agree with Will Downing being part of the Jazz Festival as a R&B artist. That made the advertised ticket sale a partial lie.
The concert was all I expected it to be. The opening act was fantastic. Will Downing was very good and Boney James and his band was exceptional. Looking forward to see who will be at next year’s jazz festival.
I've been a fan of Boney James but never seen him live. He lived up to my expectations and more. Jeanette Harris was a great performance. She is very talented. Will Downing wasn't as crooning as I know him to be. This was my fourth time seeing him.
I had great seats for starter. They opened the doors on time, also the show started on time which made it even better. All the artists were amazing.
The show was phenomenal Will Downing just keeps getting better with time . Boney James was high energy perfection from beginning to end can't wait to see him again
I really enjoyed the show. It gave me a new appreciation for Boney James and will definitely go see him again.
I had a problem tickets coming by mail.. Ticketmaster responded quickly and new ones sent to me within days.. great customer service
Boney was in the mood that night. He performed for a group that he knew appreciated his music in a great venue. Loved it.
Boney James killed it again Never disappoints Layla brought it too… The second night not so much The opening artist should have been the closer
I love The Aretha outdoor amphitheater, but having 3 artists with 3 set changes was too many for the evening. Damian Escobar (1st) was too short, Lela Hathaway got the most time + performed with Boney James, who got cut short - with the crew literally giving him the "cut"sign during his performance. It was kind of disappointing. But overall, a decent concert. Maybe next time it will be solo performances or all combined for a more enjoyable evening!
Rate it an A+ ALL around, concerning the Artists/Concert length/Venue. Both artists were phenomenal, the performance length for both were satisfying and the venue interior (seat spacing, refreshment as well as facilities access) and exterior (parking access to building and ease of exiting) we’re all AWESOME!! I would definitely attend other events at The Factory/Chesterfield MO!! Thanks!!
Always excited to see Boney James perform, he gives an awesome performance.
The venue was outstanding and the entertainment experience was very good.
Loved it! I attended both nights of the Smooth Jazz on Land concerts! The Friday night lineup was Lalah Hathaway and Boney James! Smooth jazz royalty! Absolutely stellar and flawless performances that the audience appreciated and enjoyed! Will definitely return to St. Louis next year for this event!
