  • Bodeans - Great concert!

by sibiris on 5/16/11Bears Den At Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel - Niagara FallsRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing the Bodeans in concert. They were well worth the price of the ticket. They came onstage at 8:00, and sang for two hours straight. There were no intermissions, just amazing music. This was an acoustic show, it suited the venue very well. The venue was very well laid out, quite small with the stage lowered in the center, and three sections of seats which rose up from the stage, so everyone had a good seat. They sang and played with such energy and enthusiasm, they clearly love what their doing, and want the audience to enjoy it just as much as they do. They're not just going through the motions, they sang straight from the heart, and put every ounce of energy into the evening. They played all of their well known songs, a few newer ones too. This is a group that you don't want to miss if they are in your area. I sincerely hope they come back to western NY.

As always the BoDeans put on a fantastic show. They never let their fans down. I didn't want the night to end. I highly recommend this event.

They were awesome. Truly appreciate how hard and long they played. Loved that they unplugged the just sang acouistics at the end. Can't wait to see them again:)

  • I want more Bodeans - especially like this show

by Timmy24 on 2/26/11SOUTH MILWAUKEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - SOUTH MILWAUKEERating: 5 out of 5

Sammy sounded better than ever. His voice seemed stronger than it was in the early days. The stories behind the songs gave new meaning to the lyrics for me.

  • Always good

by Jeniann707 on 2/16/11House of Blues - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

Audience participation is a MUST!!! This is the most fun I have EVER had at a concert- been a fan since the 80s. I recently relocated here from the Gulf Coast and had the treat of seeing them in New Orleans at the HOB, and two Midwest venues since then in last 3 years. I have lost count of how many times I have seen them.

  • Bodeans and Bighead Todd

by Pudds on 8/31/10Minnesota State Fair Grandstand - St PaulRating: 4 out of 5

It was no surprise that local fav Bodeans did their part in pleasing fans... a great mix of old and new, slow and fast. Bighead Todd though was fantastic! I was unaware of how much fun he has on stage... and can that man make that Fender sing!

I gave this a FAIR, no pun intended, rating because the concert wasn't over crowded! I thought the package deal wasn't so much of a deal. I came for Big Head Todd, And Loved the Bodeans!!! The parking was so, so... I would have liked to been able to just buy tickets only!

  • Bodeans and Big Head Todd & Monsters-perfect match

by Erinyes on 8/30/10Minnesota State Fair Grandstand - St PaulRating: 4 out of 5

Great concert - both bands are tremendous. Last time I saw Big Head Todd, was in Aspen, CO during an outside, night concert with snow. Unbelievable event! The Twin Cities should try this venue. Thanks.

  • Big Head Todd and the Monsters were awesome!

BHTM is the epitome of live music performers. The music was great and the band was very gracious when signing autographs. Also, the fans were awesome!

The Bodeans rocked the Minnesota State Fair. The concert was outstanding. Great music and fabulous vocals! Oh, and we love the rest of the band too!

The outdoor setting @ the MN State Fair just topped what we already knew was going to be an unforgettable night! Great fun and music! We arrived early and got right in front by Sammy! Loved Big Head Todd & the Monsters too!

  • Bodeans are great!

The weather was perfect for an outdoor concert with temps in the 70s once the sun went down. Kurt and Sammy played for 2 1/2 hours and sounded as good as ever. The fans joined in singing for songs like Still the Night and Good Things. These guys have been around for a while but they are well worth seeing.

My husband was always wanting me to listen to the BoDeans..........and I never took the time.....well, we went to the concert at the MN State Fair and let me tell you they were outstanding!!! Excellent vocals, and even better guitar playing.......I will definitely go see them again!!!!

  • Outside concerts are awesome

by Parentnightout on 8/27/10Minnesota State Fair Grandstand - St PaulRating: 4 out of 5

Both performers were really good. I thought that the Bodeans were opening for Big head Todd & Monsters so when we showed up a few mins late I was dissapointed that we had missed some of Big head Todd. Both Artists sound perfect after all these years. They were great to see live. I would see them again.

  • Bodeans deliver!

by missingireland2 on 8/27/10Minnesota State Fair Grandstand - St PaulRating: 4 out of 5

A beautiful night under the clouds was made more fantastic with the musical harmonies of Kurt and Sammy. A mix of old and new material was welcomed by those in the stands as well as hundreds of people standing in front of the stage. We never tire of listening to these guys - Kurt is a guitar virtuoso and Sammy's gravelly voice calls out to you to join him in singing their greatest hits. Big Head Todd & Monsters were OK -- way too loud. As I looked around I saw a few children and thought how sad it was that they're experiencing hearing damage at such a young age. When the band wasn't just "making noise," their sound was good - the lead singer actually has a great voice -- it's just too bad it gets drowned out by screaming guitars seemingly playing all different melodies. For you Bodean fans, they're coming to St. Cloud next March - get your tickets now. :-)

  • Big Head Todd was the best band

by Nantuckett on 8/27/10Minnesota State Fair Grandstand - St PaulRating: 4 out of 5

We loved Big Head Todd... The Bodeans were good too. We thought Beig Head Todd would be the major act so were disappointed when they opened so therefore did not play as long. We bought shirts and got their autographs... That was fun!

  • Big Bodeens Head

by facefront on 8/27/10Minnesota State Fair Grandstand - St PaulRating: 5 out of 5

MN state fair, Big Head Todd & the Monsters opened the show with a high energy, bluesy, roots rock set that had everybody engaged from the first song. Hats off to the FOH engineer it was one of the better sounding sets that I've heard this year! The Bodeens did not have the energy that I expected they almost seemed a little tired & bored. The sound was not up to par and was way too vocal heavy, I get it it's about the vocalist, but there wasn't any punch to the rest of the band.

  • Bodeans most underrated band in America

by Jeffjuggler on 8/27/10Minnesota State Fair Grandstand - St PaulRating: 5 out of 5

It baffles me that the Bodeans are not bigger stars than they are. They are talented, professional, & authentic. As live performers they are connected as a band. Sammy Llanas is soulful, heartfelt, & engaging. Kurt Newman is a passionate performer & an excellent guitarist. The rest of the band is tight & appear to have a great time playing. The vocals blend & it is easy to see the harmony that comes from working together for years.

  • BHTM should have headlined

by Scottmon on 8/27/10Minnesota State Fair Grandstand - St PaulRating: 4 out of 5

The Bodeans almost put me to sleep. They were way to mellow for me. Big Head Todd and the Monsters rocked but their set was too short. The Bodeans should be opening for BHTM.
