    McFerrin=Sheer Pleasure

    by 1PurpleLady on 3/19/10Birchmere - Alexandria

I have seen him many times - he only gets better. How can that be when he/his voice are the next thing to perfection. One of the most enjoyable performances I've attended. I feel honored just to watch this artist.

Mr. McFerrin was incredible...what a talent!

by joannieva on 3/19/10Birchmere - Alexandria

It was the second time I have seen Mr. McFerrin and once long ago at the Kennedy Center. His talent is wonderful and the audience participation was beautiful. It almost made us think there were plants in the crowd, but it would have been half the people. The Over the Rainbow -Wizard of OZ was delightful. I would go again just to hear what a great instrument he has. Loved it.

    Fantastic performance

    by Blondie03 on 3/18/10Birchmere - Alexandria

This show was absolutely amazing! Bobby McFerrin was very warm and entertaining with the audience. He interacted with the audience in such a unique way, we were very pleased. He is a soulful, animated, charismatic, and such a great musician. He has crafted his art over the years and every time we hear his songs/voice, it's as if we've heard it for the first time again. Please come back to Northern VA, we had such a great time!

    Joyful, funny, beautiful, wonderful!

by DivaBiker on 3/18/10Birchmere - Alexandria

This was such a fun concert. The Birchmere is a wonderful, intimate venue -- perfect for an interactive performer like Bobby McFerrin. He had us spellbound from the start, when he came out and made up three songs on the spot, each in a completely different style. Then he involved us in his improvisations -- having the whole audience sing, then bringing up individuals and groups to join in his fun. (Some of whom were fabulous!) He was joyful and funny. My husband and I call Bobby McFerrin the "Dalai Lama of Music," and I think that says it all. He has more joy in music than any performer I know, and he brings everyone along for the ride.

If you get a chance to see Bobby, see him when he's at his best: alone onstage with nothing but a microphone. This was the real experience, and he brought everything I wanted to see - his cool scat language, his beautiful tone, the laugh-out-loud bits of audience participation...he even brought up the opening act so he could improve harmony to one of their songs. He even did an open Q&A during the encore. The venue was also great - a little pricey for the entrees but you get a couple of nicely furnished rooms with great sound and warm lighting. It looked like there wasn't a bad seat in the house. Just please, don't do like one audience member did and request "Don't Worry Be Happy." Not cool.

    Bobby McFerrin is simply amazing!

by Artkazi on 3/18/10Birchmere - Alexandria

I actually was called up by Bobby McFerrin to sing on stage with an improv vocal master. He invites you into his world and you can't help but get lost in the language of music that he is creating. He is an amazing talent and after his show you will not listen to music the same way again! Thank you Bobby!

Bobby McFerrin - the one and only!

by Smonds on 3/18/10Birchmere - Alexandria

Bobby is the greatest, in a class of his own. It was my first time at the Birchmere. I found the venue accessible in terms of its proximity to major routes, adequate and secure parking space in the grounds, large spacious foyer as you walk in, efficient box office service, excellent arrangement of the tables in the room, good hotel and food services, nice waitresses, good lighting, clean and hygienic rest rooms, lovely ambiance inside. As for Bobby he was just a natural, engaging the audience, doing his thing whilst also responding to the energy in the rooml. Bobby has music in him, no question about it, and he it is his music, has his voice, no one else does what he does. It was very special. I had hoped for a CD autograph and a photo of him though. Just love him and The Birchmere! Thank you

    Brilliant, of course.

by gertiemyrt on 3/18/10Birchmere - Alexandria

What a performance! Not only did Bobby McFerrin keep the audience mesmerized by his own talent, but he included audience members in his performance, which made it even more fun and entertaining. He called his opening act onto the stage and backed them up for a song--magnificent and generous. Sam and Ruby, especially Ruby, were ecstatic, being able to not only open for, but sing with this super star. We will go see him anytime he is in town.

I came in with high expectations and they were all exceeded. This is truly one of the most talented artists I have ever heard.
