About

He didn't name it and doesn't refer to it as such, but folk-rock legend Bob Dylan has been on what's become known as his Never Ending Tour since 1988. The longest the Minnesota native has gone without playing a concert since then was a three-month break he took in 1997 to recover from what could have been a fatal chest infection.

Dylan has played more than 2,500 gigs during this incredible run, and despite a catalog that dates back more than a half century, the shows aren't greatest-hits rehashes. The iconoclastic singer-songwriter tends to focus on whatever his latest musical project happens to be, and he often reworks his well-known songs significantly. Dylan's current backing band -- all of whom played on his 2012 studio album, Tempest -- has a bit of a country vibe, and  usually features guitarists Stu Kimball and Charlie Sexton along with Tony Garnier (bass), drummer George Receli (drums), and  Donnie Herron (pedal steel, lap steel, banjo, mandolin, violin, viola).

Dylan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, and he would have landed there based on his work in the 1960s alone, when he wrote and recorded some of the most enduring and groundbreaking material in musical history. Though his '60s songbook includes classics like "Blowin' in the Wind," "Subterranean Homesick Blues," "Like a Rolling Stone," and "I Want You," he hasn't stopped writing and recording critically acclaimed material, and is constantly mining his archives to release previously unreleased material.

  • Great Dylan Performance

by Cile on 3/29/25Robinson Center - Little RockRating: 5 out of 5

His voice was strong and clear. Really enjoyed his piano playing as I never had the opportunity to hear that. His band was tight and the acoustics were great at the Robinson center. If you get a chance, go see him.

  • Worst concert ever

Lighting was too bright, couldn’t hear a word he said. Horrible concert.

  • Set list lie!

by Unger on 3/29/25Robinson Center - Little RockRating: 5 out of 5

Worst concert I’ve ever been to. Been a Dylan fan my whole life, he didn’t play a single clsssic for 90 mins (when we left) and we literally could not differentiate a single word he was “singing” if could have been any person on earth up there singing. I looked up the set list on setlist.com after to see if I missed any bangers and the set list is completely inaccurate. He didn’t open with watchtower, he did NOT play it ain’t me babe… none of it. Not sure who provides that info but totally inaccurate.

  • Worst Concert

by LieutenantASmith on 3/29/25Robinson Center - Little RockRating: 1 out of 5

It was the worst concert I have ever been too. The lighting was very low and dark. The band and Bob Dylan wore dark clothing so if you sat at a distance you would not be able to see him. He never sang any of the old songs he was famous for (Lay, Lady, Lay, Mr. Tamborine Man, Knockin on Heaen's Door, etc.). He did play/sing "It Ain't Me, Babe"but you could not understand him at all. I could only recognise the words "It Ain't Me, Babe"to even know what he might be singing. He apparently put an album out in 2020 and it was the songs he played. Only the newer generartion would know about it. We and several others got up and left before it was even over. I understand he is 83 years old but even Willie Nelson at the age of 90 who was great has him beat.

  • Bob ALWAYS disappoints- on purpose

by Dib Dab on 2/1/25Rating: 2 out of 5

I’m a big fan of Bob. I’ve seen him play shows over the past 30 years and it has been a disappointment EVERY time. I always think next time will be better, but it’s always the same. After the last show I told my friend, “Twas the best bar band I’ve ever heard.” Yes it was a backhanded compliment, but very true. Watch some YouTube of Bob in his current state to see what I mean

  • Bren Center was Tremendous

by Affectionado on 9/26/24Rating: 5 out of 5

Saw Bob many times through the years. But one day my wife says to me, “Honey, your favorite guy is playing tomorrow at Cal, Irvine!” I instantly dropped everything and ran to my laptop and didn’t care how far back we were, we were going to that concert. Got 2 tickets near the back at the Bren Center. Turns out it was probably the Best Dylan concert we ever attended (took my wife and 3 daughters to the Dolby in Hollywood, spent a lot and all 5 of us were about 3 rows from the stage). The Bren concert was much better. Bob was on a roll and his band was kicking it all night. Great time!!

  • Great (with a slight warning)

by Ben Gillette on 9/22/24Rating: 5 out of 5

I had an amazing time! Although I had a great time, it is different than many other concerts. He does the melody different for each song and it's all deep cuts. His concert is certainly not fan service and it's probably for deeper fans. He sounds awesome though imo.

  • By far the worst concert in my life

by Roberto on 8/15/24Rating: 1 out of 5

Worst concert of my life. I saw Bob Dylan about 5 years ago and it was the worst concert I've ever been to. He didn't play any of his old famous songs. He apparently played new songs and it was very hard to understand the lyrics. We sat up front and it was nice to see somebody so famous, but it was a total waste of time and money. Definitely don't go to one of his concerts.

  • I think "disappointing"sums it up.

by Bravotangomike on 7/7/24Rating: 3 out of 5

I saw Bob Dylan perform at Willie Nelson's Fourth of July Picnic. There were energetic younger acts that I never heard before (Celisse and Maren Morris) that were definitely entertaining. It was wonderful seeing superstars Mavis Staples and Robert Plant/Alison Krauss perform. And then Bob Dylan....It was like a roller coaster where the other performers lifted the audience up, and then Bob brought them back down to Earth. Having no rapport with the audience was bad enough. But Robert could not even play at least a few of his classic songs that everyone in the audience knows. I guess that would be too commercial. Luckily a 91 year old Willie Nelson came out after Bob to show how to entertain and excite an audience. Bob, what a shanda.

  • Best poet in songwriting

by PeKi on 5/14/24The Orpheum Theatre Memphis - MemphisRating: 5 out of 5

He leads us through a wonderful journey of emotions, beauty and views - and every day in a different way. Inspires us to look at all the different aspects of things and human behaviour. Lyrics and music so beautiful that it makes people cry during the concerts. Very well behaved audience, remains mainly silent while he sings - applause like a storm between songs, standing ovations, stage rush. If you haven't seen Bob you haven't seen anything ... his songs are a blessing to the world. <3

  • Dylan Still Has It

by JW on 5/2/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Bob Dylan has once again proven he is master of his craft as songwriter and performer. Dylan’s new “Rough And Rowdy Ways"album (which comprises most of the setlist) contains songs befitting the mature statesman that he is. The songs are well crafted, balanced and subtle with an air of mystery to the material much like the man himself. Unlike many artists of his generation, he is not reaching back to familiar patterns and churning out albums that sound more or less the same. As is his custom he has reinvented himself once again and the songs on this album are a please to hear performed live.

  • Fabulous show!

by Graham on 4/25/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Seeing Bob Dylan play live is always an incredible experience, but I think the shows on the Rough & Rowdy Ways tour are among the best I’ve seen in the 35 years I’ve been going to his shows. He’s playing all of the songs from his 2020 album “Rough & Rowdy Ways” (with the exception of “Murder Most Foul”) and so don’t go to see him if you’re wanting to just see his greatest hits.

  • Bob Dylan the Icon

by Alicia on 4/11/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

It was an amazing show with one of my favorite artists. Bob and the band were incredible and I loved every moment of it.

  • can't go wrong with DYLAN

by JAM on 4/9/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Even tho we were sitting in the cheap seats it was a wonderful experience. Wish there had been handicap seating I could afford. The stairs were a challenge, but it was worth it to see Bob Dylan live!

  • First Dylan show

by Handpicked Vinyl on 4/8/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

When you attend a Bob Dylan presentation you need to know first and foremost that you are going to see a performer not just a musical performance but a performance from a true artist. He is very lyrical, and somewhat musically talented... but the timing and pace of what he can do really emphasizes his messages and accompanies his lyrics very effortlessly. It is like watching an episode of Bob Ross painting, there is nothing in the beginning then all of a sudden the canvass is flowing with color and telling an intimate tale and your looking around wondering how did we get here. If you attend expecting a run of hits you're going to be disappointed. But if you go in knowing that what you're watching is an artist performing that day, in front of you, live and presenting to you art in a real time feeling and expression. The songs even though some were well-known were hard to spot because of the different accompaniments and lyrical phrasing that I'm sure comes with the feeling of the day. That alone makes it an experience that is truly one of a kind. There is no encore there is no interaction with the audience and very little was said other than lyrics being spoken. No cell phones cameras or recording material are allowed and it's very strictly enforced with a bag up policy which was the first I had ever experienced but seemed very well executed, thought out, and planned. It did not add any time to the entrance or exit of the show. And After experiencing what I did my takeaway is this: I'm glad I attended the show. I'm even more pleased because I familiarized myself with the latest album which the tour was supporting. Many of the songs were familiar to me but not so familiar to those wishing to hear old music. Know before you go: You're going to be without your cell phone during the show There is NO encore NO HIT SONGS: familiarize yourself with the latest album. Have fun and enjoy watching a TRUE legend preform LIVE in front of you arrangements and timing that really is one-of-a-kind. P.S. I wonder if when it's all over Dylan would have benefited more by adhering to the concepts of jam bands like: The Grateful Dead, Pish, and the Dave Matthews Band. Allowing shows like these to be recorded allows your music to live on in the many different forms that you've presented it. All that's truly left now are the memories of those like myself that attended the show.

  • Disappointed!

by Tuttie on 4/8/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 2 out of 5

Venue of Fair Park Music Hall was a total disappointment. Set up used such low lighting to create some effect that it was hard to see the 6 musicians- all wearing black. We all know Bob Dylan mumbles a lot - expected. But couldn’t make out much of his lyrics. On top of that he slowed down most of the tempo of most/all of his songs. No energy. Couldn’t wait to get out of there - left after an hour.

  • A League of His Own

by D.R. on 4/8/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

Bob Dylan can be unpredictable on stage. However, this tour was set up to promote his recent album, Rough and Rowdy Ways. As such, he played the album in its entirety, save for the 17-minute "Murder Most Foul."He included a smattering of other songs but not that many well-known ones. Bob and his band were excellent, and his voice was in decent shape, so it was an outstanding show. I knew not to expect an assortment of greatest hits, so I wasn't disappointed.

  • 58 years ago Bob Dylan

by Shanna on 4/7/24Rating: 5 out of 5

My parents saw him September 24, 1965, in Austin, Texas when my mom was pregnant with me. I was born in November of 1965. So I thought it appropriate to see him in Dallas April 4. What a poetic genius, musical prodigy, and talented artist. We loved it! He’s one of a kind! Worth waiting 58! Years.

  • No Hits Concert

by Mark on 4/7/24Music Hall At Fair Park - DallasRating: 2 out of 5

18 songs and only familiar song. Obscure selections. First time seeing Bob Dylan and that was a thrill, also his voice is still very good
