About

He didn't name it and doesn't refer to it as such, but folk-rock legend Bob Dylan has been on what's become known as his Never Ending Tour since 1988. The longest the Minnesota native has gone without playing a concert since then was a three-month break he took in 1997 to recover from what could have been a fatal chest infection.

Dylan has played more than 2,500 gigs during this incredible run, and despite a catalog that dates back more than a half century, the shows aren't greatest-hits rehashes. The iconoclastic singer-songwriter tends to focus on whatever his latest musical project happens to be, and he often reworks his well-known songs significantly. Dylan's current backing band -- all of whom played on his 2012 studio album, Tempest -- has a bit of a country vibe, and  usually features guitarists Stu Kimball and Charlie Sexton along with Tony Garnier (bass), drummer George Receli (drums), and  Donnie Herron (pedal steel, lap steel, banjo, mandolin, violin, viola).

Dylan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, and he would have landed there based on his work in the 1960s alone, when he wrote and recorded some of the most enduring and groundbreaking material in musical history. Though his '60s songbook includes classics like "Blowin' in the Wind," "Subterranean Homesick Blues," "Like a Rolling Stone," and "I Want You," he hasn't stopped writing and recording critically acclaimed material, and is constantly mining his archives to release previously unreleased material.

  • He never disappoints!

by Tiff1972 on 4/14/25Elliott Hall of Music - West LafayetteRating: 5 out of 5

If you know Bob then you know he isn't going to play all the hits as you want to hear them. He likes to do what he wants to do. He is a true artist and I hope I am still doing what I really want to do at his age. The venue was great and the sound was good. Had a wonderful time !!

  • Good show, poorly behaved audience

by Carie M on 4/14/25Elliott Hall of Music - West LafayetteRating: 4 out of 5

The show itself was good. Bob played mostly newer material, and gave great performances of piano, harmonica and singing. Sound quality was also good. The lighting was pretty dark and difficult to see the stage. The worst part of the night was the audience. The show was billed as a “phone-free experience” which is fine but the numerous people getting up and walking around, people unable to hold onto their purchased drinks (and the drinks rolling all over the floor, down aisles and under seats) was VERY distracting.

I can’t believe he didn’t sing a single oldie! And he didn’t come back for an encore.

  • DYLAN

IT WAS DIFFERANT, BUT AT 83 YEARS OLD, WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT, I AM GLAD WE WENT.

  • Wonderful set

There is no one like Bob and never will be. So good and band was tight. An American treasure.

  • The Masterful Dylan

by Peg on 4/12/25Adler Theatre - DavenportRating: 5 out of 5

I was mesmerized by this Bob Dylan concert. The fool sitting next to us left angry because he wasn’t hearing any old radio hits. He obviously wasn’t a Dylan fan or he would know that Mr Dylan typically plays his new music. I was thrilled to hear a couple of rearranged older tunes at this show along with the current rough and rowdy album tunes, however. We saw him in Davenport, IA and it broke my heart that I could not follow him to Peoria, Il the next night or even Indiana the night after that. His musical poetry speaks right to my soul and this show did not disappoint.

  • Disappointed in Bob Dylan Show

by Thundercruise on 4/12/25Prairie Home Alliance Theater - PeoriaRating: 1 out of 5

I’m a great fan of Dylan. I grew up listening to his music. I have many of his song books. I was hoping to hear Bob sing some of his old songs and playing the guitar. Instead Bob was at the piano singing newer songs. At least I think they were new. I couldn’t hear Bob singing the first several songs. Music was too loud and sound system was terrible. When I did hear Bob I couldn’t understand the words. Maybe I’m getting too old. Anyway, the whole show was a huge disappointment.

  • Genius

by Michaelgsmith on 4/12/25Prairie Home Alliance Theater - PeoriaRating: 5 out of 5

Bob Dylan’s eternal genius is fully on display on the Rough and Rowdy Ways World Wide Tour. Incredible singing, piano playing and harmonica playing from the master. 83 years old and still going strong!

  • Worth the drive to this intimate venue

  • Dylan makes you work for it...

by Matt on 4/11/25Adler Theatre - DavenportRating: 5 out of 5

Another great Dylan show. Most of the songs from the most recent album don't do a lot for me personally, but there were enough highlights to make the concert very worthwhile. Dylan, of course, doesn't make it easy for casual fans. Even if he does play some of his more famous songs, they will likely be rearranged to the point where some folks may not recognize them. But if you can appreciate his desire to keep things fresh for himself and his band, you can certainly enjoy being in the presence of a legend.

  • Great show. True Bob Dylan experience

by Vicki on 4/11/25Adler Theatre - DavenportRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great. Mr Dylan played for two hours straight with no break! And him on the harmonica - awesome!

  • Disappointed

by Larry on 4/11/25Adler Theatre - DavenportRating: 1 out of 5

Was very disappointed he never sang any of his hit songs. I know he played newer stuff but wish he would sing his biggest hit songs. No encore either. Some of the songs couldn’t understand him not happy with him.

  • Dylan Shines at the Adler

by PS on 4/11/25Adler Theatre - DavenportRating: 5 out of 5

One of a kind show with several guitar solos which was wonderful alone with the Piano and Harmonica. Bob Dylan is a musical genius and performer and a must see !

  • Not at all what we expected

by eurydice on 4/11/25Adler Theatre - DavenportRating: 2 out of 5

Sadly, the concert disappointed us. For some strange reason, binoculars were not allowed. We were in the balcony (loge) and could not even see Dylan's face. Just a white blob (due to the lighting). So, really it could have been anyone on stage. We loved his 60s and 70s songs and hoped to hear at least a few. All of his songs (except one) were "new"and pretty boring -- could not understand the words, for one thing. And they all sounded the same. Several people around us left early, as did we at about the hour mark. Sorry to have spent the money on this fiasco.

  • Rough & Rowdy

Adler theater has poor acoustics. Sound system is marginal.

  • Sad night for fans

by GenXsurvivor on 4/10/25Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center - MankatoRating: 3 out of 5

I felt bad for the Dylan fans, it was a lackluster performance by a man who didn’t seem to want to connect with the audience.

  • Wonderful Concert Thank you Bob Dylan

by Cile on 4/8/25Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center - MankatoRating: 5 out of 5

Great concert. Bob's voice was strong and reflective, and his piano playing was very nice to hear. The band was tight and in sync with each other. The venue was good for this event but one audience experience to note. The floor seat rows contained too many aisles. As a result, several other attendees would move to the front and block the aisles and views of Bob. Would have preferred to see just outer aisles. But Bob and his band were topnotch.

  • Don't waste your time and money

by JP on 4/8/25Rating: 2 out of 5

Most disappointing concert I have attended. Bob is unable to perform well and chooses to only perform deep cuts. The only concert I have ever left mid-set.

  • Harsh sound system but still enjoyable concert

by E.H. on 4/8/25Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center - MankatoRating: 4 out of 5

The stage lighting in Mankato was quite dim so tough to make out faces despite sitting fairly close to the stage. The sound system also seemed harsh. That said, we quite enjoyed the setlist and style in which the music was played.

  • Rough & Rowdy

by RAR on 4/7/25Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center - MankatoRating: 5 out of 5

Bob is a living legend and it’s amazing he’s still touring. But he is, playing the songs from his Rough and Rowdy Ways, turning Mankato’s Mayo hockey arena into an intimate jazz club. Bob and his stellar band were great offering jazzy, bluesy takes on all the songs from R&RW. How great is it that this musical genius is still touring, sharing his music live?
