by jesse1953 on 3/7/16Chaifetz Arena - St. Louissound system was a little messed up to loud on some of the performers seats a little close but other than that I had a great time
Rating: 2 out of 5 Festival--good; promotion--horrible
by StrawberryG on 8/26/14Columbus Civic Center - ColumbusThe Festival itself was good. Performances were great! However, the promotion of the event was awful. First, the event was to be held in the Columbus Civic Center but was moved to the outside without any notification whatsoever. Then, the time was changed without any notification of that either. Poor business.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Blues Festival was a great show!
by AFT67 on 3/27/13Masonic Temple - DetroitFrom the first act on it was lots of fun! Great MC. Accoustics were Fantastic!!!!! Shirley Brown was the downer. She had very low energy. Everyone else was Hyped!
Rating: 5 out of 5 Outstanding Show!!!
by Amanda318 on 3/25/13Masonic Temple - DetroitI have never been to a more enjoyable show. I laughed, danced, and had a wonderful time! I am so happy I attended. Some of these artists are getting up there in age and they are lengendary performers/artists. Denise LaSalle, Mel Waiter, Floyd Taylor, Shirley Brown, Bobby Rush, T.K. Soul were all outstanding performances. LOVED IT!!
Rating: 5 out of 5 Loved Bobby Rush and all the other performers.
by nhaygoodjr on 3/25/13Masonic Temple - DetroitGREAT show! Especially enjoyed the senior ladies dance contest. Will attend again next year.

Rating: 1 out of 5 This was not a blues festival at all !
by Byakn on 3/19/13BI-LO Center - GreenvilleI am a lead singer and harmonica player in a Blues Band. I challenge anyone to find a blues festival anywhere that played less "BLUES" than this one. This event exclusively featured Rhythm and Blues; mostly contemporary Rhythm and Blues. There was no blues at all. I don't know why the BiLo Center would allow such a blatant misrepresentation of the event. We drove from Columbia, SC and only saw "R&B" on a small temporary style yard sign outside the center, as we were walking into the event. In addition to the fact that we paid a bunch for gas and tickets to something far removed from what it's label stated, we had to sit through a barrage of "white people" jokes before the first act and again before the second act. I enjoy blues and I enjoy soul. This show had very little to offer a soulful white blues enthusiast from 100 miles away. Maybe you could call your next symphony a "Hoe Down" or your next Country Concert an "Opera".
Rating: 4 out of 5by SouthernSoulFan on 3/19/13BI-LO Center - Greenville I think TK Soul gave the best performance on the show. I wish he had more time to perform. I also enjoyed Shirley Brown, Theodis Ealey & Lenny Williams. I thought Mel Waiters was okay. I would enjoy him more if his band would play his songs a little slower. I am used to his previous band and his CDs were the music was played slower. I really like the MC singing in his band. He gives them a much better sound. Mel should hire him full time. I did not like the Barkays. I like Southern Soul and some Blues. I don't think the Barkays sing Southern Soul or Blues. I listened to 2 - 3 of their songs and left. I would not go to hear the Barkays if I had a free ticket.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Mel Waiters..... my man!
by QUEENSUGA on 2/19/13North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonThe show was exceptionally great. It was a great start to my birthday weekend. Just a great gift for myself.
Rating: 1 out of 5 Blues Is Alright Show
by Pelina on 2/18/13North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonMillie Jackson was disgraceful. She cheated her audience out of a good show. She was barely on the stage for 30 minutes. She was more concerned about what her front row friends thought of her than other members of the audience. Lattimore was the best performance. Mel Waiters and Theodis were next in line. TK Soul needs to be on a R&B Show, not blues. I don't plan to ever attend a Millie Jackson headliner again. I wish Bobby Womack had headlined the show. The Klass Band wasn't that much of a blues band either. Blues is blues, don't mix it with R&B. You had too many on the show and only half were really blues artist. The show was a ripoff. I would never recommend it to anyone and I go to shows all the time.
Rating: 5 out of 5 the show was great, but Millie Jackson could have
by honeybo2 on 2/18/13North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonI enjoyed the show.TK Soul had the most energy! Mel Waiters can really get down for an old G! Everyone else was good.Millie Jackson did't have a good show,Iwas not please.
Rating: 3 out of 5by Anonymous on 2/17/13North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston Wanted to see Millie Jackson after the show in the lobby like the rest of the entertainers but she did not come out to sign autographs.

Rating: 5 out of 5 The 10th annual tri state blues festival
by MADEWELL on 8/21/12Landers Center (formerly DeSoto Civic Center) - SouthavenAll the Performers were wonderful. The M C should not make racist jokes and make jokes about chruch and his city mayor. This is a mucical event not a comedy club. It started on time and everyone performed in a timely manor. Overall the best yet and I've been to all TEN.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Awesome!!
by TJ96 on 8/21/12Landers Center (formerly DeSoto Civic Center) - SouthavenI really enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. We had a blast. I can't wait to next year events. We will most definitely be back with even more of my friends. All of the artist did a wonderful job. We laughed, song along with the artist and danced the whole night. What a night to remember!!

by SadBoo on 8/21/12Landers Center (formerly DeSoto Civic Center) - SouthavenI've been to this show four times and this was the first time that I was truly disappointed. We went for a show with lots of music instead we got a lot of talking and the couple of songs that were performed were a couple of seconds of the song with an up tempo beat-the words were there but that was it. What in the world was going on!!! I guess we will have to get our ”Blues fix” at the King Biscuit Blues Festival this year. Very disappointed fan
Rating: 5 out of 5 The concert was awesome!
by 2Innocent on 8/20/12Landers Center (formerly DeSoto Civic Center) - SouthavenAll of the acts were very entertaining . The host and hostess were really funny. I loved their jokes! The sixty and over dance contest was halarious. The ladies were given an opportunity to shake what their mama gave them. I think this year's show was the best compared to the last five annual shows that I have attended. All of the acts adhered to the time frame that they were given, which allowed everyone performing a chance to perform for their individual fans.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Tribute to J. Blackfoot was unforgettable!!!
by Thiccwitit63 on 8/20/12Landers Center (formerly DeSoto Civic Center) - SouthavenVery nice show from beginning to end. Can't wait till the next one coming next year.
