BLUE RODEO IN CONCERT:

Canadian roots rock mainstay Blue Rodeo has been sending fans "Head Over Heels" with their country-tinged sound and lighters-in-the-air concerts for more than three decades. The group has won a dozen Juno Awards in their home country, and they've earned a global fanbase with their approachable sound and unforgettable live performances. They've been called one of Canada's best live bands, and it's easy to see why as co-vocalists Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor tag team anthemic favorites like "Lost Together" and "5 Days in May". Fans looking to catch up with with these veteran rockers won't want to miss them any time they perform favorites from their decade-spanning discography on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Blue Rodeo was formed in the early '80s by Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor, two Toronto high school buddies who started playing music together after graduating. Following a stint in New York they returned to Canada and put together a band, and in 1985 Blue Rodeo played their first show at The Rivoli in Toronto. After two years of performing and honing their sound, the group released their 1987 debut album Outskirts to a Top 20 spot on the Canadian charts. A steady string of popular singles and albums followed in the late '80s and '90s, including country chart-toppers like "Try" and "Til I Am Myself Again". Their success continued in the '00s with no less than five Top 10 albums on the Canadian Albums Chart and a star on Canada's Walk of Fame. Over the course of 13 albums Blue Rodeo has won a whopping 12 Juno Awards, and they continue to impress with their time-honored sound and undeniable onstage chemistry every time they tour.

    Always Amazing

by SherriM on 12/17/23Massey Hall - Toronto

Thursday’s concert at Massey Hall was fabulous. The audience was treated to almost 3 hours of just Blue Rodeo. They hit the stage at 8:00 and other than a brief intermission, played till just before 11:00. They played the entire Five Days in July album, plus some absolute crowd favourites. Can’t wait to see them again!

    Amazing show

    by Rodeo99 on 12/17/23Massey Hall - Toronto

This was such an awesome show - perfect sound in the Massey Hall. The band and voices are flawless. Highly recommended!!! Best of all, got my tickets through Blue Rodeo and didn’t have to deal directly with the scumbags at Ticketmaster and they’re deceptive selling and pricing practices. So nice!!!!

    Special night

by Randyr on 12/16/23Massey Hall - Toronto

We had the most amazing time. It was our first time for a concert at Massey Hall and it was magical. Cuddy and Keelor and the entire band can still really knock it out of the park. The venue is perfect. Can't wait to return for another performance in the near future.

Fantastic, amazing concert!! Greg was at his best, vocally and storytelling! Jim is Jim, always the ultimate performer! The instrumental solos were truly outstanding! Glad they added the 2nd show so more diehard fans could attend!

    Amazing Show!

    by Celtic77 on 10/27/23Avenir Centre - Moncton

It was my first time seeing Blue Rodeo in concert. I've been listening to their music for 30 years, and they definitely didn't disappoint! Amazing show!

    Disappointed

    by Bixby75 on 10/25/23Scotiabank Centre - Halifax

The lady singer ruined it for us. We wanted to hear blue rodeo not her. Also, way too much talking in between songs. I had no interest in the girlfriend stories. They did not play any hits until encore. I would not attend again.

    Great concert

by Jamie on 10/25/23Scotiabank Centre - Halifax

Well, if there was any doubt about Blue Radio's professionalism, this show should put this to rest .. The last time I saw these guys in Halifax was at the start of their TransCanada train trip (decades ago.) They were too drunk to remember their own songs...and it was raining to add to my disappointment This concert made up for that and the band played 2.5 hrs of their best music in a very entertaining and professional manner. Thanks

    Disappointing

by Cynthia on 10/25/23Scotiabank Centre - Halifax

I've been in the Scotiabank Centre to see two shows in the past couple of years, Sting and ZZ Top, and the sound for those shows was so much better than Sunday at Blue Rodeo. I was on the floor for all these shows, and this concert in comparison felt like the band was somewhere off in the distance -- the volume was too low and diffuse and the visuals were dull. I think this gave license to the people around me to talk up a storm, which was the most annoying part... why spend upwards of $100 on tickets and then not listen to the music? Further to that, the band was solid and the songs were lovely, but I didn't get anything from it I wouldn't get from listening to the record. I wished Blue Rodeo played three nights at the Rebecca Cohn rather than one at the Metro Centre... in the Cohn people shut up and the sound is always amazing.

    Very Disappointing

    by D&S on 10/25/23Scotiabank Centre - Halifax

Show started great with 5 days in May 😊 Backup singer was amazing but it felt like we saw and heard more from her than the boys. Folks around us were all saying the same thing Then after 1 hour lights on and band left the stage 😳 Not sure if this was a break or concert was over? Most ppl in our section just left and quite honestly we were more than ready to leave too Huge fan of Blue Rodeo but so disappointed! Could have stayed home and listened to the album ☹️

    Not disappointed!

by Éblouie on 10/24/23Avenir Centre - Moncton

We are very happy to have gone to this concert! It was amazing! Blue Rodeo has definitely not lost their touch! In addition to the expected singers being awesome, we also loved the opportunities that were provided to individual musicians to showcase their individual talents. It really was amazing! Thank you!!! As to the harmonies with the female singer, we think the harmonies were off….her voice was not at the calibre of the band members and it took away from the songs. Just food for thought type of comment. Regardless of this minor glitch, we loved the concert.

    Couple suggestions for next time

by Sprocket on 10/24/23Avenir Centre - Moncton

We bought tickets, only to find out later they added more sections to the seating area, putting us further from the stage. We figured we would at least be able to see them on the big screens while they played, but they didn’t have those either, made it difficult to see the stage from how far back we were. Other than those couple things, it was a good show.
