About

Blood, Sweat & Tears on Tour

Though they haven't released a new studio album since 1980, Blood, Sweat & Tears have never left the road. And although their current lineup features none of the players who appeared on their string of hit singles from their late-'60s/early-'70s commercial peak, their original mission — to fuse the compositional complexity of jazz with the power and precision of rock ‘n' roll — has carried on under the guidance of founding drummer Bobby Colomby, who no longer performs with the group but still serves as their de facto spiritual advisor/casting director. Over the years, Colomby has enlisted a number of singers — including American Idol alumnus Bo Bice — to fill the big shoes vacated by BST's most famous vocalist, David Clayton-Thomas. Since 2019, that role has been occupied by Keith Paluso, a former contestant on The Voice. But no matter who's belting out the hits, a Blood, Sweat & Tears show is guaranteed to be a brasstastic experience.

Blood, Sweat & Tears in Concert

Al Kooper could've retired in 1965 already a legend at age 21, thanks to his iconic keyboard work on Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone." But the restless musician would go on to play a crucial role in expanding the parameters of popular music when he joined improvisational New York group The Blues Project, before founding the even more ambitious Blood, Sweat & Tears with guitarist Steve Katz in 1967. The group's debut album, Child Is Father to the Man, was a groundbreaking fusion of rock, jazz, psychedelia and orchestral music, though creative differences would drive Kooper out of the band shortly after its release, with Katz and drummer Bobby Colomby seeking to push the group into a more accessible direction. They'd find their golden ticket into the Top 40 in the form of Canadian singer David Clayton-Thomas, a charismatic, big-voiced showman who contributed the signature single "Spinning Wheel" to the band's 1969 Grammy Award–winning self-titled album and led the group at their historic Woodstock performance that summer. Over the next few years, Blood, Sweat & Tears stood at the forefront of a jazz-rock revolution that counted Chicago and Santana as compatriots, showcasing their bold, brassy sound on swaggering originals like "Lucretia Mac Evil" and inventive covers (like their soulful rendition of Carole King's "Hi-De-Ho"). Clayton-Thomas left the band in 1972 to pursue a solo career (only to return in 1975), and since the release of 1980's Nuclear Blues, Blood, Sweat & Tears have existed primarily as a live act, with an infinite array of revolving lineups — in fact, no fewer than 175 players have passed through their ranks over the years. But under Colomby's direction, Blood, Sweat & Tears have survived and thrived into the 21st century with their big-band bonhomie intact.

  • BST/Jason Scheff

Even though I had gone to see Jason Scheff, I was pleasantly surprised by how great Blood, Sweat & Tears was. They put on an excellent show. The whole experience was a night. I will never forget. Seeing Elvis‘s bass player, Jerry Scheff, was the icing on the cake.

  • Awesome performance!

The first half of the show were all Blood Sweat and Tears tunes, but for the second half we were treated to something wonderful. Jason Scheff, former lead singer for the group Chicago, was the guest star, and he sang some wonderful tunes before bringing out his father, Jerry Scheff, who was Elvis' bass player starting back in 1969 when Elvis made his debut on the same stage. They did some tunes together along with the wonderful B, S, and T band with their excellent horn section. It was a thoroughly enjoyable concert.

  • Two Concerts in One

by Edie on 4/15/25Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing concert! Blood Sweat and Tears played all our favorites and they sounded great even though not the original band members. To top it off l, Jason Scheff from Chicago joined them. He played some of our favorite Chicago tunes. And then, Jason’s father, Jerry Scheff, came on stage and told riveting stories of his time as a bassist for Elvis. Jason and Jerry then played together . It was an amazing show and we loved every minute of it.

  • Great Concert

Best of both worlds with Blood Sweat & Tears combined with Chicago hits. Brass section was incredible and sax, keyboard, percussion and guitars amazing. Two hours nonstop. Both vocalists were great and I appreciated keeping the arrangements true to original music. Jason Scheff and father number so memorable. Thank you!

  • One of the best experiences!!!

by Belle on 4/15/25Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

We rolled into town (RV) and checked to see if anything was going on that evening. Scored a couple seats (not next to each other but one directly in front of the other so that worked!) Blood, Sweat & Tears sounded AMAZING!!! Then… The Unexpected surprise of seeing Jason Scheff and the heartwarming appearance of his daddy Jerry… who had shared that very stage with Elvis AND his young sons 48 years ago. He shared stories and played like he was still a kid himself! It was an AMAZING & EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE!!!

  • Worth EVERY penny!

I traveled 2000+ miles for this show and would do it again in a heartbeat! BST was great, Jason Scheff was fantastic, and Jason’s Dad, Jerry Scheff was incredible!

  • A treat!

by UltraF on 4/15/25Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great show. Not only highlighting BST music but featuring the amazing musicians. Adding to that, it was a show within a show with Jason Scheff performing many Chicago songs AND bringing out his dad who recalled stories of days as a headlining bass player with Elvis and other bands. It was a sweet tough to the event.

  • Great show!

by wnybab on 1/29/25Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino Bears Den - Niagara FallsRating: 5 out of 5

I haven't been to The Bears Den in a number of years. When I bought the tickets online, I hoped I picked a good seat. Turns out I did as there is not a bad seat in the place. We enjoyed the smaller venue along with the interaction the group had with the audience. I grew up listening to the music of Blood, Sweat and Tears. When I saw the ad for their show, I immediately wanted to go see them. My husband and I truly enjoyed their show! Alot of people were saying "wow"after the show. Thank you to the Bears Den for booking Blood, Sweat and Tears. We'll be back for another show!
