About

Created by lead singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Christ Stein, the punk/new wave band Blondie became a phenomenon in the late 1970s by successfully breaking into mainstream pop culture  —thanks in part to Harry’s insouciant, sassy vocals. Millions of fans worldwide continue to embrace the band's signature vibe — an energetic, edgy sound that's still fresh and contemporary. In concert, Blondie always serves up a stylish mix of sounds ranging from pop and reggae to rap, with a dash of retro disco and electro-pop thrown in. Now in their fourth decade of performing. Blondie has released a new album that has already generated several bestselling singles as well as an international tour.

Blondie released its first European albums in the mid-1970s, but it wasn’t until 1978 that the band got international attention with the release of Parallel Lines. During the next several years, the band released a string of hits, including “Atomic,” “Call Me” and its biggest hit, the iconic “Heart of Glass.” In 1982, Deborah Harry began to pursue a successful solo career, but the band reformed in 1987. Blondie was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, the year of its 30th anniversary. That same year, it released a best-of album, Sound & Vision, followed by Panic of Girls in 2009. The band's 10th album Ghosts of Download will be released in January 2014. The new album has already garnered a popular single, “A Rose by Any Name,” and enthusiastic ticket holders got the opportunity to hear several of the band's newest singles during Blondie’s European tour in 2013. Recently, Debbie Harry delighted her millions of fans by announcing that the band will do a promotional tour for the new album in 2014 — although concert dates have not yet been announced.

    Pat Benatar stole the show.

by EidMar on 8/3/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

The Donnas and Blondie were good. Had it just been these to acts, it would have been a fun concert, but not all that memorable. Pat Benatar, on the other hand, was incredible. Her set was worth the price of admission. I only wish they had let her close the show. Listening to Blondie after Pat Benatar was a little anticlimactic.

    Pat Benatar/Neil Giraldo rock

by KathiG on 8/3/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

Pat Benatar/Neil Giraldo were fantastic. The came out rocking hard and didn't let up until it was over. Great set of songs. The energy was fantastic and watching Pat/Neil together makes it even more enjoyable. My only regret is that they came out first, leaving Blondie to finish up. I have a feeling that if they had been the closing act, they would have done more songs. Still it was an amazing, fabulous, exhilarating show. Wasn't as impressed with Blondie. Nothing against them, they seemed to be really rocking, bu I really didn't recognize a lot of the songs, and honestly Blondie wasn't the draw for me. I bought the tickets to see Pat/Neil, and it was worth the price. But we left about midway through Blondie's set.

    Pat Benatar was the BOMB

by pndog on 8/3/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

I have a renewed respect and awe for Pat Benatar. She was terrific - she looked great, she sounded great, and she interacted with the audience a lot. Debbie Harry was - well - weird. We actually started to leave before the Blondie set was over, as did a lot of people. As we were walking toward the gate, they played "The Tide is High," and suddenly she was alive and fun and the venue seemed full of energy. We stuck around for the next song, and then they started playing a cover which I thought was strange for an encore. I definitely think Pat Benatar should have played last - maybe they switch it up in different cities or something.

    Pat Benatar was excellent!!!

by Big80sfan on 8/3/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

Being my first time at Chastain Park, I had a great experience! Me and my group of friends had the best time! We sat on the lawn and thought the concert was awesome!

Pat Benetar should of been the headliner!

by Aubiechic on 8/3/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

Pat Benetar played most of her hits and she was a very good performer. After the first few songs, her voice was warmed up and she sounded great and looked good too. Her husband was also very personable so together they made it a great show. To be honest, I felt like I had already gotten my money's worth after seeing Pat. Blondie was pretty good, but it seemed like her concert lacked good song rythym to where she would play not great songs back to back and then every fourth song would be really good. I would jump up to dance but then I always sat back down because the follow-up song wasn't good. Overall the concert was good -- but I think Blondie should have been the warm up act for Pat Benetar.

    Pat Benatar and Blondie

by ryder111 on 8/3/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

Pat Benatar is just amazing. Still as great as when I first saw her perform back in 1979. Love when they do the old songs toned down. A true sign of great song writing when it's just as engaing with out all the production. And Spider(Neil) is still the best guitarist in the business. Blondie was fun as always. Love how there's no BS inbetween songs. They just go from one to the next. Was thrilled that they did a couple cuts from Debbie's most recent solo album. A great surprise and a real treat.

Pat Benatar Super - Blondie Weak

by gb5155 on 8/3/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

Pat Benatar was super and put on great show - can't say the same for Blondie. Debra Harry has lost it. The Blondie song selection and presentation was weak. Benatar needed to have played longer and Blondie not at all. Would like to see Pat Benatar again very soon - never want to endure another Blondie concert.

    Blondie and Pat Benatar

by jhp1 on 8/3/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

Pat Benatar was awesome! Put on a great show! Blondie, not so much. Blondie did not hold the crowd's attention and sounded as if she could not perform her songs as she previously could.

    These Ladies rocked it!

by nanster on 8/3/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

The Donnas did an excellent job setting the mood. Pat Benetar really showed her stuff...She's still got it! Blondie was a fun walk down memory lane

    Pat Benatar disappointing

by gatechmom on 8/3/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

I took my teenagers to see Pat Benatar and was disappointed that she only played a few of her hits. Her fans come to see those songs.

Went for Blondie but they all were great!

by Femdom007 on 8/3/09Chastain Park Amphitheatre Peter Conlon Presents - Atlanta

Brought back memories of my being a little girl listening to them and they all still sounded great! Went for Blondie since I loved her so much as a little girl but I was impressed with them all.

    Blondie was awesome!!

by Polite on 8/2/09Paragon Casino Resort - Marksville

Deborah Harry's voice is still as pure as it was in the 80's. Blondie put some cool twists in their songs that made them unforgettable. The guitar solos were amazing! This concert really brought me back, it was very nostalgic. I am forever a fan!

    Blondie at Paragon Casino!

by Paladin on 8/2/09Paragon Casino Resort - Marksville

What a great show. She's still kickin it after all these years... The casino was just that (don't care for the places). Couldn't believe she came to Marksville! Was glad she did, enjoyed her show immensely. Her voice was just like it was 30 years ago, amazing. Even her more recent songs kicked butt.

    Deborah Harry Rocks!!

by Lopey on 8/1/09Paragon Casino Resort - Marksville

Blondie was fantastic! They did all of their greatest hits plus more. Debbie was out there having a great time along with all of the other band members and you could tell it.... by the end of the show, most of the audience was up by the stage dancing and having a ball!! I would go see them again!

    BLONDIE ARE GREAT!

    by chrishead1 on 7/24/09Wente Vineyards - Livermore

Not to be missed if you get a chance. Debbie Harry and Blondie put on an amazing show that rolls through all the hits you know and love along with some other choice songs. I especially loved their Michael Jackson tribute after "Heart of Glass". Debbie Harry is inspiring.

BOTH WERE GOOD BUT NOT THE ROCKERS I REMEMBER

    by GINA61 on 7/24/09Wente Vineyards - Livermore

pat was on first. she was good, voice still pure, but she did not perform the way i have seen her in the past. she did several acoustic songs with her husband, which were very good, but i can't say that one of rocks icons sitting on a stool was what i expected. her whole show was a little layed back and the reciting of her politics between songs I did not care for. even when she did battlefield (which was the encore) it didn't have the pat punch. blondie was also good. she actually got the people up dancing with a couple of her greatest hits, but they came late in the show. she didn't play some of the crowds favorites and what she did play was somewhat layed back as well. she did pick it up toward the end. she seemed to be getting into the music a little more. frankly, both sets were more subdued that one would expect. it was at a winery, but come on, let's rock the place. other entertainers do.

    Blondie was awesome!

    by Pauline909 on 7/23/09Wente Vineyards - Livermore

I loved seeing Blondie at Wente. It was a little disappointing to see so many of the old-fogeys getting up and leaving halfway ... guess they forgot that Blondie is a punk band. Debbie Harry sounded great and I was reminded how much fun her music is. She looks and moves great (I read somewhere today she's 61 ... no way!). The band was killer too. Pat Benetar sounded a little hoarse and her band drowned her out for the first couple of songs.

Pat Benatar was very good, Blondie sounded "tired"

    by dj0110 on 7/23/09Wente Vineyards - Livermore

Pat Benatar and her long-time guitarist (SPYDER), who led off the show, were exciting to watch and listen to. Blondie (Debbie Harry) did'nt sound nearly like what I remember from those years ago, much deeper (husky) voice than what I recall, OR the sound system was not set up correctly. Anyway we left at 10:30, while Blondie was still playing, but admit more than a small part of that was due to getting too chilled because of the light outer clothing we brought (me a light jacket, my wife a sweater) was not doing the job with the breeze as it was.

Pat Benatar rocked, Blondie, not so much

    by TinaMarie2 on 7/23/09Wente Vineyards - Livermore

Pat Benatar was her usual talented self and her husband Neil Giraldo can still play a mean guitar. Blondie on the other hand was a disappointment. Wandering around the stage in tennis shoes and a too-short skirt was a distraction from her music which lacked enthusiasm... Would not recommend Blondie again but would go see Pat Benatar again. Wente was, as usual, windy, but not too cold. Wente is a great venue and I would return again and again to see shows.
