Iconic R&B group Blackstreet has had audiences moving and grooving since the early '90s. Their summer 2013 concert at London’s Wembley Arena wowed fans with an amazing performance of old-school vocals. On stage and on tour, Teddy Riley, Dave Hollister, Sherman “J-Stylz” Tisdale, Lenny Harold and Tony Tyler command the audience. Riley’s silky vocal sounds lay a solid lyrical foundation over which Blackstreet’s many melodic musical layers can be built.
Blackstreet’s 1996 single, “No Diggity,” topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts. So smooth that it was described as a “four-minute full-press come-on,” the song earned Blackstreet a Grammy Award. It laid the foundation for their second album, Another Level, to eventually reach quadruple-platinum status, selling over four million copies. The album's single “Don’t Leave Me” reached the No. 1 spot on the R&B charts. Further collaborations ensued, as Blackstreet worked with artists as diverse as Janet Jackson, who shared a gold record for “I Get Lonely” with them, Ja Rule and Eve. Today, Blackstreet continues to bring their unique approach to harmony and phrasing to every show they perform and to every stop on every tour. A ticket to Blackstreet earns a listening to the sounds of classic R&B paired with a dose of new jack swing overlaid on the beats of today. Riley and company know that musical innovation never stops, so in concert, Blackstreet gets audiences up and on their feet, dancing and singing along like it was the 1990s all over again. No diggity, no doubt.
Great concert! It started to rain so it was hard to see around the umbrellas; but all in all it was fantastic!
Outside of the screens having blocks on the screen, I enjoyed this venue and the concert. I have new found regard for Teddy Riley. Just saying that "Fantastic" can certainly be used to describe what he did. Stokely was energetic all the way through. Hats off to Blacksteet and Holister too!
Dave Hollister should have had an hour all by himself. Overall the show was excellent.
Can't wait to do it again! Family friendly had a great and wonderful time.
Great music & artists. Stokley was the BOMB! I wished TR would have had more artists w/ him that he worked with
Loved the Atmosphere and spending time with my loved one. It reminded us of our younger days
We truly enjoyed the experience, all the groups were great.
I enjoyed the concert but wanted more Blackstreet singing and less of Teddy Riley experience!!!
Had a Great Time, Stokley, Blackstreet ft Dave Holister put on a show Teddy Riley put on a show now that’s getting your money worth !!!
Thought I would hear more Blackstreet songs, it was more like the Teddy Riley look what I did show, Stockley was amazing, also enjoyed Lavelle
Great concert. I surprised my boyfriend for his birthday to see his favorite singer, Stokely. He had a great performance. We both agreed that Teddy's performance made the concert. We were not impressed by Blackstreet at all. I was expecting the original members. The new members have beautiful voices but the performance just seemed like it wasn't well put together. We enjoyed ourselves though!
The speakers cracked, the groups could'nt hear themselves singing, and the audience could not hear most of the music.
The Chicago Theater was an awesome venue! The concert however was not at all what I expected. It was very unorganized with the acts not being ready and wasting a lot of time between artists. When the artists did make it to the stage, they sang many of other peoples songs opposed to their own. This was very disappointing because I came to see them and hear their music, not the music of artists that were not there. Also it was a 'Love in the 90's tour' yet too much music from other decades was emphasized.
This concert started out with a bang and just got better!! I was a little disappointed that Next was short a member, but given that he was honeymooning , I'll cut them some slack. I was never really a fan of Adina Howard , but she put on a great show. Then Next came out and did their thing followed by Jagged Edge. All three were good but the highlights of the night were definitely En Vogue and Blackstreet with Teddy Riley!! The keep the crowd jumping!! Dave Hollister did his hit "Spend the Night" and I loved it!! I'd pay to see this show again but this time I'd want front row seating!!
Awesome concert! Great performers and great seats! Loved it from beginning to end.
The artists were as good as they were when they played in the 90's. next and Jagged Edge alone were worth the tickets.
Really could've let David Hollister perform more of his song's
Dave Hollister and Backstreet stole the show!!!...Great performances all around!
Really great show. Adina sounded good. Next would have been better with RL but they kept the crowd hype. My favorite group was Jagged Edge and that's because I'm biased! I'm one of their biggest fans. I wasn't excited to see En Vogue initially but they sounded amazing and they had cute little dance routines. Dave Hollister, Teddy Riley and Blackstreet were perfect as the last group to perform. Teddy's music/talent is undeniable.
I had never bern to the Chicago Theater, every seat was a good seat. Yhe show was amazing and the artist did an even better job. Teddy Riley shut the place down.
