About

Iconic R&B group Blackstreet has had audiences moving and grooving since the early '90s. Their summer 2013 concert at London’s Wembley Arena wowed fans with an amazing performance of old-school vocals. On stage and on tour, Teddy Riley, Dave Hollister, Sherman “J-Stylz” Tisdale, Lenny Harold and Tony Tyler command the audience. Riley’s silky vocal sounds lay a solid lyrical foundation over which Blackstreet’s many melodic musical layers can be built.

Blackstreet’s 1996 single, “No Diggity,” topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts. So smooth that it was described as a “four-minute full-press come-on,” the song earned Blackstreet a Grammy Award. It laid the foundation for their second album, Another Level, to eventually reach quadruple-platinum status, selling over four million copies. The album's single “Don’t Leave Me” reached the No. 1 spot on the R&B charts. Further collaborations ensued, as Blackstreet worked with artists as diverse as Janet Jackson, who shared a gold record for “I Get Lonely” with them, Ja Rule and Eve. Today, Blackstreet continues to bring their unique approach to harmony and phrasing to every show they perform and to every stop on every tour. A ticket to Blackstreet earns a listening to the sounds of classic R&B paired with a dose of new jack swing overlaid on the beats of today. Riley and company know that musical innovation never stops, so in concert, Blackstreet gets audiences up and on their feet, dancing and singing along like it was the 1990s all over again. No diggity, no doubt.

    BBD and Doug E Fresh

by Jaymangirl on 6/19/10Verizon Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

The entertainment was great needless to say my favorite two acts were Doug E and BBD. If you are 35-40 years old you would have been taken on a trip down memory lane when you were in your teens and twenties going to house parties and clubs and rocking to the sounds of the acts that performed last night. The crowd was on their feet during Doug's and BBD's entire performance these two have never disappointed me, and they give the same energy during televised performances. These two acts were AWESOME. Montell Jordan, SWV and Blackstreet had average performaces in my opinion, and somewhat disappointing because I rocked to their sounds back in the day as well. Michael Bivins mentioned hope of a New Edition reunion. As a life long fan I hope they can put aside all differences and reemerge as the great group they are. They have grown appears to be handsome, mature men and should be able work out their differences not just for the sake of their fans but also for themselves. Whenever they reunite, for whatever reason it's talked about for days. For example the reunion to honor the Jackson Five during the BET Award Show, that performance is still being talked about. They are truly missed and were meant to be performers. New Edition MUST reunite for themselves and most of all for their FANS. No one can rock a house like Doug, the crowd went bananas when Doug took the stage. I danced, rocked, rapped and song along with so much enthusiasm I was sweating bullets and refused to take my seat even with 4" heels on. All I can say is, " AIN'T no party like a Doug E Fresh party". Can't wait to see New Edition back together.

    Great Concert!

The event was pretty good except for at times the singers voices were overpowered by the music. Mic volume needed adjusting.

The New Jack Swing concert was just okay, to me.

by LadyofDestinction on 6/19/10Verizon Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

My friend and I were so excited to attend this tour. But the line up of songs were just not strong enough. They selected very boring songs. Everyone in the crowd was excited too, around me. The performance just wasn't as strong.

Doug E Fresh highlight of the concert!!

by Livinmylifelikegolden on 6/19/10Verizon Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

Overall the concert was great. BBD, SWV, & Blackstreet did their thing & had the crowd up & dancing to the throwback hits from the late 80s & early 90s. It was a great performance!! But the highlight for me was Doug E Fresh. How is he still going, & going, & going!! I was so hype during his performance. He killed it for sure! His performance rocked the crowd. This was the best party I had been to in a long time!!! Loved it hands down! And I would love to see him again! You don't want to miss it!

The groups had us on our feet all night!

by DaddyLonglegs on 6/19/10Verizon Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

My lady and I thoroughly enjoyed show. I wish each group would of did more songs but the songs they did do were good. For me, Bell Biv Devoe was the height the evening. They put on a hell of a show. Doug E. Fresh also was great.

Doug E Fresh! off the chain

by unique1995 on 6/19/10Verizon Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

Overall the concert was good. There were technical issues with microphones, etc with BBD and Blackstreet. Do to that, they should have gootten to perform longer. also, I loe Blackstreet, bt they should not have been the HEADLINER! DOug E Fressh or BBD should have taken that spot. The crowd should leave hype once the last group has performed the last song and that did not happen. I will be at the next old school concert!

by Ryan06 on 6/19/10Verizon Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

It was a good concert for the most part. My wife definitely enjoyed it. Doug E, Montell and SWV hyped it up with Blackstreet putting the touches on it.

New Jack Swing... ball to you fall!!!

by Vigorous1920 on 6/19/10Verizon Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

This was a great concert. I love the 90's swing to it. The only con I had was Montel Jordan really bored me and Blackstreet music was too loud. BBD was awesome and should have been the headliner. If you want to go back 27 years.... see this show and it is great from any seat (center row participant)

New Jack Swing is still swingin

by TracyA1120 on 6/19/10Verizon Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

That was the best concert I've seen in years. From the opening with Montell Jordan to shutting it down with Black Street and Dave Hollister. They should do this type of tour every year.

    Nice concert

by Stephsteph2426 on 6/19/10Verizon Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

All of the performers did not show. It was the New Jack Swing tour featuring Blackstreet, however there was no Blackstreet. Dave Holister was also announced for performing, but he was not there. Overall, the concert was nice.

    Sound problems during main act!

by GQAdonis on 6/19/10Verizon Theatre At Grand Prairie - Grand Prairie

This was not a good event. The talent assembled sounded good, but a few problems made the event a failure: The main, act, BBD, had sound problems and their voices could not be heard. Montell Jordan and SWV did not have bands, so their performances were lackluster. Blackstreet, which on some materials were advertised to appear, did not appear.
