    Amazing Show!

by Wilder on 9/27/22The Wiltern - Los Angeles

I loved every minute of the show, and I’m so happy I got to see two of my favorite bands live. The venue was fantastic as always. The Wiltern continues to be my favorite place to see shows. I love the location, atmosphere, and stage. The only thing that I thought could’ve been better was I found that the audio wasn’t balanced super well during black midi’s set, at least from where I was standing. I found that the bass overpowered the melody and made it hard to know exactly which song was playing. Other than that, it was an incredible experience, and I’m very grateful that the Wiltern was offering such a cool event.

    Damn

by JoJo T Cat on 7/24/22Paradise Rock Club presented by Citizens - Boston

I am 51 years old, and to be honest didn’t expect the venue to be packed. The Paradise is in the middle of Boston University, and though it was July, the place was packed with collage kids. Hellfire was fully released about a week before the show, and it was great to hear the young crowd sing the saxophone parts (the horns were not at the show). I could watch Morgan Simpson play drums all day and never be satiated. He’s a machine, but also nuanced in a way most rock drummers could never be. For example, I recently saw the Dead Kennedys, and as much as I love DH Peligro, he was off beat at times, and only played loud and louder…Morgan Simpson is just a mother. Geordie Greeps was also quite a showman. I could not always make out some of his more burlesque crooning songs. I don’t know if Cameron Picton was having trouble singing (it was also very hot in Boston), but his vocals seemed kind of curt or staccato. Still, I was psyched to have been able to catch what I feel is one of the most innovative and creative bands around today.

The opener was like a musical alchemist. Black midi was relentless as always and changed tone at breakneck speed.
