    Decades Collide was awful

by NancyBob on 3/22/16The Dome at Toyota Presents Oakdale Theatre - Wallingford

Absolutely horrible and not as advertised. I expected a Dance Party (with maybe a dance floor where you could actually dance to an entire song). The first band was not danceable at all, Biz Markie played some decent songs, not necessarily from the 80's and 90's; many were current songs. He only played a few seconds of each song; how can you dance to that? The second band (Kick) , with it's screaming female lead singer was ear-splitting and played nothing you could dance to. They received a poor reception as evidenced by the fan base. Again, this event was not as advertised as a 80's vs 90's Dance Party. The music was not contained to just 80's and 90's and it was not danceable. At least the tickets were cheap: $10 (not the drinks though) although I don't know why I spent money on a "no-waiting-in-line" uplift (there was no line to get in) and the extra $10/per ticket for the "Platform" was not worth it either.

    Quite a Collision!

by ISurvivedThe80s on 3/21/16Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia

Each of these acts would be worth seeing on their own. All three together? A collision of great music! I personally loved The New Romance and would love to see them again for a full show -- only having 1 hour of 80s was a bit of a bummer for this show. But, the other band, Here Comes The Night, was a decent 90s cover band. And Biz Markie as DJ was a blast -- both for his 80s-90s set between bands and then his post-band set, which seemed to defy any specific decade and run the gamut of all things hip-hop -- a great dance party set. The whole night was a LOT of fun.

    Not Enough Material Performed

by MonieRizz on 3/21/16Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia

The DJ and band portions were good however I was disappointed because Biz did not sing his hits. He did do a few bars of just a friend but it was not the whole song or none of the other hits. I think anyone would expect to see an artist perform his original music instead of just mixing the whole set.. There are several DJ's in Philly who are just as good as Biz however performing his hits makes him standout above the rest. I could have went to any party at a bar or club and heard the music he played. Many people expressed disappointment on the way out.

    a little confused

by bford on 3/21/16Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia

The Bizmarkie set was good, but I Thought the band was going to be on the hip-hop/r&b tip. It turns out the band was more rock/pop. We still enjoyed the band because I am flexible like that.

by Kat140 on 3/20/16Irving Plaza - New York

    Loved it...mostly.

by TeaPeaEm on 2/29/16The Fillmore Charlotte - Charlotte

Biz Markie's first set and ON POINT!!! I loved every second of it. His second set was WAY TOO LOUD!!! We ended up leaving. I don't understand why he had them turn up the volume. I mean, it was unbearable. The rap duo, Brody and Coch, was SUPER WACK!!! They butchered hits and were just all together wack. The DJ was good.

    Nobody beats the BIZ!

by MichelleKC on 2/29/16The Fillmore Charlotte - Charlotte

I upgraded to VIP and brought a seat rental, and I spent 90% of the whole night up and dancing! Biz Markie and sitting down is an impossible combination. I'm already planning to do this CIAA related event again next year!

    80s vs 90s

by Trenb on 1/19/16Deluxe at Old National Centre - Indianapolis

Miz was awesome first of all!!!!! He actually played two sets which I was impressed we seen and heard his performance that much. The cover band..... Umm semi impressive . the choice of songs was a lot more like 70s and maybe their top picks more than the top hits. It was a classic event overall. To hear the music that helped me through decades of my life, in few hours. I cant wait for the event to return. Suggest hairbamgers ball for the next cover band !!!!!

    Amazing

by Thirtysix on 1/19/16Deluxe at Old National Centre - Indianapolis

I had the best time ever, the band home grown did a great job. Biz just shut it down during both sets. The music was not just hip hop it was rock played also, which was great since we were a mixed crowd. It was an awesome show I danced all night long.

No Rapping at a Rap Show!

    by Wheels357 on 1/15/16Bogarts - Cincinnati

Really.. I get it.. You're an 80's Rapper and usually play with other rappers.. But when you play a 2.5 Hour set and ONLY DJ that's CRAZY. You did sing 5 word to The Vapors! I guess I get what I paid for.. But would it have hurt to actually Rap.. That is your profession!

    Just ok

by MsDownTown on 1/5/16The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

The atmosphere was nice. Everyone seems to be having a good time. I missed the first band but the second band was ok. Biz Markie was ok. I expected more hip hop and R&B. There was a mix of music. The songs played weren't even played halfway though and some were just a snip of the song played. So when you heard a hot song and started to dance to it, it would change to another song. I found it a bit disjointed. I probably won't be going back.

    Bizmarkie Flashback party

by DCSilverSpringLady on 1/5/16The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

We danced and had a great time. Bizmarkie did not disappoint. I just wasn't well informed of the format. There was a rock band for the first hour. Bizmarkie deejayed the second hour. Another rock band performed the third hour and Bizmarkie came out the last hour and rocked the house. We had fun and danced. Didn't like the second band as much, but many in the crowd did. The second band was courageous and covered some hip hop songs with a rock flare, but it didn't work for me!

Great time. Biz Markie spins the best old school music. He makes me miss my state (New York) every time I hear him spin.

    Disappointed

by LolaMo211 on 10/3/14The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

Very disappointed. This venue leaned more towards the 80's. Aside from the band even when Biz DJ'd. Then a 90's band singing Montel Jorden. When you advertise a venue with Biz as DJ you expect A LOT more R&B and hip hop. Where was CeCe Pineston, Boyz2Men, Busta Rhymes, Tribe Called Quest, SWV. Too much 80's all the way around. If you're going to have a 90's band I get that they'll cover Rock and Grunge stuff but the DJ portion should cover legit music that can't be played by a band. The bands were great and props to the 90's band for their rendition or Britney's Oops and NSync's Bye Bye Bye. The crowd cleared out as soon as it was clear there would be no more R&B/Hip Hop vibe. Again if you advertise Biz as DJ you need to play to the crowd and make EVeRYONE happy.

Great event, but, needed more bartenders

by JazzyJ36 on 9/30/13The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - Hammond

I was surprised the concert started on time & rolled through all the musical acts in just under three hours. Great crowd, everyone was in good spirits & enjoyed this blast from the past. Now for the not so good...there was 3 bartenders at the rear of the main floor & the line ran almost halfway to the stage to get a drink. We saw a second bar area just outside the main venue where there were approximately 6 register stations but only 2 were staffed. We waited in line upwards of 30 minutes, missing a large portion of the concert. Multiple people in line were quite frustrated with lack of bartending staff at a concert that is held at a casino. Seems like they could've made adjustments when the huge lines formed. Overall I had a great time. Ticket price was kinda high since I missed the Groupon deal.

    It was memorable!!!

by Chely79 on 9/30/13The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - Hammond

Chicago's/Newyork finest singers turned up. They definately kicked it oldschool. Judy Torres aka JTO from the Bronx was beautiful as always and still till this day our Queen of Freestyle. Cynthia & Johnny O finally performed their famous hit song Dreamboy/Dreamgirl which had its audience overwhelmed in happiness & teary. :'( ♥Beautiful Feeling!♥ George Lamond CHITOWN FINEST was looking fine as ever & sounded georgous. I can't wait to see him perform again December 7th including other amazing freestyle artists. TKA is still best group ever. Blacksheep, Slick Rick, and all the rappers did their thang and brought oldskool hip-hop back to life. ;-)

    Somebody scream...

by deedeevee1 on 9/30/13The Venue at Horseshoe Casino - Hammond

It was a fantastic night. Great music. The show itself was a little long. The flow of the program was also a little awkward. The freestyle artist were awesome. Bizmarkie sucked. Sugar hill gang rocked the house.

Was excited about the venue, but was very disappointed. Sound system was inconsistent. Chubb Rock did his thing. He was great. Brothers need to practice before they get on stage. Keith Murray, well!!! That was a disaster. Got to stop smoking.
