Biz Markie didn't come out until after 10 pm

by NewJackSweetie on 3/20/18Irving Plaza - New York

I don't know why I always set myself up for disappointment when I attend a show at Irving Plaza. Doors opened at 7 pm but Biz Markie did not perform until after 10 pm. From 8 pm to 10 pm, there was another DJ who had a set and I was not pleased with that performance. When Biz Markie came out, he did a great job and all but I was very tired and frustrated because he took forever to perform. I think that it should be specified that the lead performer will not come out until 10 pm.

    Nobody Beats the Biz!!!

by Siddyallen on 10/16/17The Queen - Wilmington

OMG did my husband and I have fun at this event. Biz Markie is such a great Mix Master! He took us back to our NYC club hopping days of the 80's and 90's. There was a live band who was awesome as well. They rocked out back and forth. Biz Markie is a sweetheart, talented, old school and off the hook with his skillz. I would definitely do this again. We love the Biz!!!

    Biz Markie Was Great But...

by Musicalfan60 on 6/13/17House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

Biz Markie was great. His mix of music was entertaining and seamless. The but is for the opening band, Rising Star. I am usually a fan of cover bands but they managed to make every song they sang sound the same. There are waaaay better cover bands out there.Rising Star opens the show at 9 and play til 10. Then Biz Markie comes out for an hour but then the band plays again from 11 to Midnight. They were to painful to stick around for the second set which was disappointing since I really enjoyed Biz Markie.

Where da Hip Hop at, Biz?!

by Zindude on 6/13/17House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

I bought tickets as unfamiliar with the sponsoring radio station. Upon arriving, the place was PACKED and difficult to maneuver around. The band was playing a Morris Day tune (which should have been a red flag). Biz Markie came out and started dropping hits...from 1980s top 40 stations! Yeah - I guess I appreciate the talent of WHAM! and Whitney Houston, however I was there to see 80s vs 90s hip hop! The closest he came before I stormed out was RUN DMC...but instead of dropping it's tricky, he played Walk This Way (not really their most impressive tune). I had hoped for an awesome show similar to ones he MC'd in the past (ASR shows), however felt it was more of a top 40 show.

by leopard1976 on 6/11/17house of blues - anaheim

I was so disappointed the worst ever concert I have attended, what a waste of my money so upset. The cover bands horrible can find better band on utube or go to La Mirada Swapt meet save your money.

    Disappointed

by Concertgoer1123 on 6/5/17Cone Denim Entertainment Center - GREENSBORO

The tickets and information given did not say that Biz Markie would be DJing not performing. he didn't even DJ his music, TERRIBLE EVENT.

    So Nostalgic, Loved It!

by TiaM on 5/22/17House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

Biz really held it down from the 80's to the 90's! He even went all the way there and played classic Chicago style house music!!!! So much fun.

    Not for $18

by TerribleTime2 on 4/4/17House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

It's a cover band show which should be free at many local bars. Biz Markie was the headline but his talent was up there with many 14 year old junior high "DJs" Save your money and go to your local bar that has a few cover band on a Saturday night and use your $20 on non-overpriced drinks.

    A little Disappointing

by JoTrucker on 3/26/17House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

Although the marquee has Biz Markie on it, he does DJ but does very little in the show. He has a hype man talking for him as he plays small parts of 80's classic's. People would hope to hear him at least sing his one and only claim to fame song"Just a friend " but he only plays about 10 seconds of it and sings about two words of it. That was disappointing, any DJ could do what Biz does in the show. With that being said the music that is played does get the party started. The crowd really gets into it. But then the second band performs "anti idol" although they are very good for the genre they perform,90's grunge. It is a total vibe killer after the great vibe of the first band and then Biz. They need to change the line up to have "anti idol" play first and end with the other Band because the energy is way high and people would stay longer and leave feeling pumped. Over all for $15 it's worth it, just don't except to much from Biz Markie.

    Wack show!

by Miseducation1234 on 4/12/16House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

This was such a mockery of real hip hop. The opening band covered some 80s songs and that was cool. Last 40 min of the show was about 3 stars, with a marginal amount of effort by biz. The rest of the show was totally a waste time! Biz's first set was about 20 min and had no hip hop mixed in at all. This was clearly a show that was for those who get their hip hop from top 40---it was hip hop lite! And the hype man with biz was the laziest hype man ever! He didn't even move from his spot! The very worst part of the show were these 3 dudes who covered various rap songs! We thought they were a joke for the first 10 min, but those fools were serious! Their dance moves were from napoleon dynamite or a tybo tape. Worst of all, they were on stage well over an hour, which was twice as long as we saw the headliner. If I thought I could get my money back, I'd sure demand it!

Good, could have been a lot better

by POZEST on 4/4/16House of Blues Anaheim - Anaheim

This show is an 80s cover band opening up named PAST ACTION HEROES who is actually very good, entertaining, and funny, followed by a 40 minute music playing set by Biz Markie, followed by an awful 90s cover band, and then followed by another 40-60 minute music set by Biz Markie. Note, Biz Markie does not perform at all. I can't even call it a DJ set because there no physical records that Biz is spinning. They are all digital files off of a laptop and using two simulated discs that he spins/handles as if he were really djing. that was one of the negatives. Biz Markie got his start DJing; and he isn't doing that with his set (in my opinion). I recommend the show producer to omit the 90s band, keep the opening 80s cover band, and then just have Biz Markie do a 90 minute or 2 hour set and then we can all go home by 11p.m. instead of the 1:20a.m. ending. The memory lane of 80s & 90s hip hop Biz played was awesome. Very fun. After Biz's first set, more than half of the people left the show. Also when Biz would say a few things into the mic or motion with his hands it seemed like he was suffering from a stroke or was just plain tired. Note Biz markie does not perform at all; meaning singing any of his songs. I wouldn't do this show again. I love Biz, but not with this set up.

    Okay okay

by Jayem100 on 3/22/16The Dome at Toyota Presents Oakdale Theatre - Wallingford

Was an odd party. Biz played a lot of 80s and 90s rock. Was not what I expected. Rock band in the middle of the show?? Perhaps I should have researched better. Was nice to see the variety of people in the crowd. It was okay.
