About

That face, that name, that sneer. Rock icon BILLY IDOL, known for a plethora of hit singles including “Rebel Yell,” “White Wedding,” “Dancing With Myself” “Eyes Without A Face” and many more, returns this summer to perform at The Outer Fields, Western Springs on Sunday, January 19.

Sharing the stage for an epic Sunday afternoon and evening of live music are seminal New Zealand artists Stellar* and Elemeno P.

Artisanal beers, wines and great food, as well as fun attractions, will add to the festival ambience of the day. The event is GA/All ages so bring the family and settle in for a late Summer’s Sunday of great entertainment.

An early architect of punk rock's sound, style, and fury, Billy Idol remains to this day a true rock 'n' roll icon. From punk pioneer to global superstar, Billy Idol has left an indelible mark in popular music and remained a household name for over three decades. His style, music, and attitude have transcended time and trend. Born in 1955 in Stanmore, North London, Idol spent several formative years living on Long Island, NY as a child before returning to the UK and emerging as a central figure of the British punk movement. As part of the infamous Bromley Contingent and a fan of the Sex Pistols, Idol was inspired to front the pioneering British punk band Generation X from 1976 until the band’s split in 1981. Determined to break through in America, Billy Idol hooked up with guitar genius Steve Stevens and a crucial musical partnership was forged.

Idol’s lip-curling sneer and fist-pumping persona vaulted him into the mainstream as one of MTV’s first megastars, making him one of the most recognisable faces in pop music, while selling out arenas everywhere he played.  He has sold 40 million albums while scoring numerous platinum albums worldwide, nine top forty singles in the US and 10 in the UK.  Hit singles include ‘Dancing With Myself’, ‘Hot In The City’, ‘Eyes Without A Face’, ‘Rebel Yell’, ‘Mony Mony’, and arguably Idol’s most famed song ‘White Wedding’.

Legendary four-piece band Stellar*, fronted by the dynamic singer/songwriter/guitarist Boh Runga, are Sony New Zealand’s highest selling Kiwi band. Dominating the airwaves and charts throughout the early 2000’s Stellar* boast three Top 10 albums, 9 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards and a legion of fans throughout the country.

Known for their pulsating live performances, Stellar* return in 2020 to perform a series of special shows to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of their 5 star debut album MIX. That album sold 80,000 copies (5 x Platinum) and generated five top 20 singles – ‘Part Of Me’, ‘Violent’, ‘Undone’, ‘Every Girl’ and ‘What You Do (Bastard)’ – all massive radio singles and indelibly etched in the Kiwi music landscape.  Expect a dynamic set featuring MIX in full, more hits, plus their killer version of Sharon O’Neill’s ‘Maxine’ – which took the 2017 Vodafone NZ Music Awards by storm.

In the early 2000’s Elemeno P erupted onto the New Zealand rock scene, seemingly from out of nowhere. A four-piece with straight-arrow, energetic, power-pop anthems. A succession of massive hits such as ‘Verona’, ‘Every Day’s A Saturday’, ‘Fast Times in Tahoe’ and ’11.57’ followed.

Equipped with a fun-loving attitude, Elemeno P soon became household favourites across the nation, releasing a trifecta of top tier albums in the space of six years.

The band’s debut album ‘Love & Disrespect’ was released in 2003, reaching number #1 on the New Zealand album charts and went on to sell triple platinum. Two more albums would follow, selling Platinum and Gold respectively and leading to the band taking home Best Group at the New Zealand Music Awards in 2008. Elemeno P make a welcome return to the stage in January 2020.

Well they showed their age but still came to rock and rock they did. Joan Jett opened did the hits and then some could have headlined. Billy was great too. The stadium was great well staffed safe easy access in downtown Nashville. Definitely upgrade to the all you can eat and drink package well done so much food and the variety was amazing all top notch food just a few examples make your own tacos, steak, Ribs, soups, full size warm pretzels, and the cheese cake was to die for. It stays open for about an hour after the show so you can relax and eat some more before heading home a little less traffic. Well worth the money. Staff was always there and they were nice and helpful. The drink were great made whatever you wanted and had everything beer all types, wine, hard liquor.

  • Billy Idol is a must see!

by Shannon on 6/2/25Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Its been forever... but you kind of forget how legit Billy Idol is. Your memory almost makes him a cartoon character of himself with his sneer and spikey blonde hair and his motor cycle shic black leathers. But NOPE that memory is so wrong... he looks fantastic and definitely a "sexy sextagenarian"(his words not mine) in so much beautiful leather. His voice is perfect, his band is bang on, the set showed you this wasn't a "pay the credit card bill"tour... this was a fantastic brit pop rock punk show. The crowd was so into it... although im sure we all felt it more than we would have in the 80s!. I hope he comes around in Canada again. I would highly recommend it. Joan Jett & the Blackhearts complimented it so well. She never disappoints!

Billy Idol and Joan Jett are truly timeless performers, you guys! Both in their 60’s, they delivered an electrifying concert that was packed with energy. 🤩 They both sang all their greatest hits and the crowd loving every minute. If you haven’t seen them, I highly recommend you do! 🤩🙌 So glad we ended up going, I was feeling a little under the weather, but said screw it, let’s go! SO GLAD we did!!

  • Good experience despite the weather!

by Cece on 5/30/25Riverbend Music Center - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

It was colder and windy, but the concert was so much fun! Amenities were clean. The turf on the Lawn area was great. It was not slippery or muddy. Much better since the last time I was there, it was just plain grass back then.

  • 2nd concert experience

by Elle C on 5/27/25Riverbend Music Center - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

I grew up listening to Joan Jett and Billy Idol but never did the concert scene until last year, I must say they did not disappoint!!! Riverbend has been my only concert venue and I love it! The ease of Ticketmaster to get my tickets and to be able to find them on my phone in the app was awesome and so easy. Billy Idol did not disappoint at all I am sure his concerts when I was a teenager were awesome as well but to know that this many decades later he is still able to raise the roof at a venue was incredible and I feel privileged to have been part of it. Thank you from the bottom of my head it was definitely "A Good Day..."

The show was great and it was my first time going to riverbend. I really like the venue. but all the construction and gates being closed with no signage made it harder to get in. The food options were a great disappointment. And the prices were ridiculous.

  • Billy Idol is a great entertainer

by Jack Axe on 5/27/25Riverbend Music Center - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts opened for Bill Idol, and she ROCKED!! Last year I think she had some medical issues, but this year she was great. And Billy Idol's show was fun and energetic. And he is such a professional, sharing the spotlight light with his band mates. He really seems like a good guy. His stage personality was Awesome.

  • Fantastic show by Billy Idol

by Mick on 5/27/25Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Billy Idol put on a fantastic show in Toronto. He sounded great and the stage set up, lighting, etc. was great. He played all of his big hits with many selections from his new album (which is great btw) that blended right in with his old hits. Steve Stevens was great as well, with several chances for a few short guitar solos. Opener Joan Jett was great too. My only slight disappointment was Billy didn't play Wildside off of the new album, which is a duet w/Joan Jett. It would have been great to bring Joan back out on stage to see them perform together on that one. But overall a solid A!!

  • Once a lifetime experience perfect sound n picture

  • Overall a fun experience.

by Damijazzy on 5/26/25Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The show was amazing. Joan Jett and Billy Idol rocked. Plenty of Security and the crowd was great. We had to rent chairs because they wouldn't allow us to bring out outdoor chairs in. I was shocked to see the bathrooms replaced with portable toilets and I hope that's only temporary while upgrading because nobody enjoys using a portable toilets. Getting out made me extremely anxious as there were hundreds of people crowded together and barely moving. Thanks Budweiser Stage for bringing these 2 amazing acts to Toronto for us.

  • Awesome

Billy idol and Joan blackheart and the jets were amazing. The price that you pay for the food and drinks are way too high. Waste of money. The seats could be more roomy.

  • Excellent Show

Billy Idol put on an amazing show at Riverbend. He sang all of his hits as well as some new songs. The crowd loved every minute of it. Joann Jett was also incredible. She played her hits as well and she put on an great show. It was a great evening filled with awesome music.

  • Two great rockers rocked it!

    by Steve C on 5/26/25Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

We loved the Billy Idol and Joan Jett show at the Budweiser Stage. The sound quality was excellent and the venue has a fun, festival sort of feel. That said, the prices of drinks and food and the quality of both were extremely disappointing. $15.50 plus tax for a very, very poor selection of Budweiser only products, wildly expensive Sangria options-none of which contained real fruit and generally uninspired food options abounded. When you are a captive audience this is forbidden from bringing your own drinks or food, this venue needs to do a much better job of providing desirable services at a reasonable price. Toronto has tons of craft breweries and none of them were represented here. Same goes for the food-where were all the great small and pop of food vendors that we encounter at other places? In short, the entire services were designed with only corporate profits in mind. Do better Budweiser.
