About

That face, that name, that sneer. Rock icon BILLY IDOL, known for a plethora of hit singles including “Rebel Yell,” “White Wedding,” “Dancing With Myself” “Eyes Without A Face” and many more, returns this summer to perform at The Outer Fields, Western Springs on Sunday, January 19.

Sharing the stage for an epic Sunday afternoon and evening of live music are seminal New Zealand artists Stellar* and Elemeno P.

Artisanal beers, wines and great food, as well as fun attractions, will add to the festival ambience of the day. The event is GA/All ages so bring the family and settle in for a late Summer’s Sunday of great entertainment.

An early architect of punk rock's sound, style, and fury, Billy Idol remains to this day a true rock 'n' roll icon. From punk pioneer to global superstar, Billy Idol has left an indelible mark in popular music and remained a household name for over three decades. His style, music, and attitude have transcended time and trend. Born in 1955 in Stanmore, North London, Idol spent several formative years living on Long Island, NY as a child before returning to the UK and emerging as a central figure of the British punk movement. As part of the infamous Bromley Contingent and a fan of the Sex Pistols, Idol was inspired to front the pioneering British punk band Generation X from 1976 until the band’s split in 1981. Determined to break through in America, Billy Idol hooked up with guitar genius Steve Stevens and a crucial musical partnership was forged.

Idol’s lip-curling sneer and fist-pumping persona vaulted him into the mainstream as one of MTV’s first megastars, making him one of the most recognisable faces in pop music, while selling out arenas everywhere he played.  He has sold 40 million albums while scoring numerous platinum albums worldwide, nine top forty singles in the US and 10 in the UK.  Hit singles include ‘Dancing With Myself’, ‘Hot In The City’, ‘Eyes Without A Face’, ‘Rebel Yell’, ‘Mony Mony’, and arguably Idol’s most famed song ‘White Wedding’.

Legendary four-piece band Stellar*, fronted by the dynamic singer/songwriter/guitarist Boh Runga, are Sony New Zealand’s highest selling Kiwi band. Dominating the airwaves and charts throughout the early 2000’s Stellar* boast three Top 10 albums, 9 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards and a legion of fans throughout the country.

Known for their pulsating live performances, Stellar* return in 2020 to perform a series of special shows to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of their 5 star debut album MIX. That album sold 80,000 copies (5 x Platinum) and generated five top 20 singles – ‘Part Of Me’, ‘Violent’, ‘Undone’, ‘Every Girl’ and ‘What You Do (Bastard)’ – all massive radio singles and indelibly etched in the Kiwi music landscape.  Expect a dynamic set featuring MIX in full, more hits, plus their killer version of Sharon O’Neill’s ‘Maxine’ – which took the 2017 Vodafone NZ Music Awards by storm.

In the early 2000’s Elemeno P erupted onto the New Zealand rock scene, seemingly from out of nowhere. A four-piece with straight-arrow, energetic, power-pop anthems. A succession of massive hits such as ‘Verona’, ‘Every Day’s A Saturday’, ‘Fast Times in Tahoe’ and ’11.57’ followed.

Equipped with a fun-loving attitude, Elemeno P soon became household favourites across the nation, releasing a trifecta of top tier albums in the space of six years.

The band’s debut album ‘Love & Disrespect’ was released in 2003, reaching number #1 on the New Zealand album charts and went on to sell triple platinum. Two more albums would follow, selling Platinum and Gold respectively and leading to the band taking home Best Group at the New Zealand Music Awards in 2008. Elemeno P make a welcome return to the stage in January 2020.

  • Great Entertainment from Two of Punks early days

by Hutch20 on 8/19/25TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

Nether Billy Idol or Joan Jett is the age they were when they first hit it big. But age hasn’t slowed them down. Jett opened the show and of course played all her hits along with a few covers like “Everyday People” by Sly. After a short break and buying a $22 drink. Idol took the stage with long time guitarist Steve Stevens who hasn’t lost a step since he first partnered with Idol years ago. For the encore he saved his best for last knocking out the crowd with White Wedding. Great night Great show

  • Excellent Venue

by Bryan C on 8/19/25TD Pavilion at the Mann - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

This is more of a review of the Mann Music Center than it is Billy Idol or Joan Jett, who were both great. The Mann is one of the best outside venues in Philly. There is a great view, the lawn seats are fine and it is easy to watch the screen if you can't see the band. The area above the lawn has lots of different foods and drinks, and while the drinks are extremely expensive well... that's the case everywhere these days. The facility was very clean, trash free, and enjoyable. I wish the Mann had more rock concerts because it is 100% better than the pavilion arena in Camden, which I won't even go to anymore.

The Joan Jett and Billy Idol concert is one me and my wife would absolutely do again! The venue was amazing

  • Great concert!

Billy Idol and Joan Jett and their bands were AMAZING!! I’d see this concert again and again!!!

  • Awesome Show

by Nhy on 8/18/25Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre - Tinley ParkRating: 5 out of 5

He was absolutely exceptional!!! His voice is golden, the band was great especially his guitarist. I saw him with Joan Jett and she was wonderful as well. Both sound exactly like their records. Billy still has tons of energy on stage, I'd 100% recommend seeing him and I will be going again the next time he's in town!

  • Billy still has it.

by Dana on 8/17/25Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre - Tinley ParkRating: 4 out of 5

My only issue was suffering through the first 45 minutes of Joan Jett, Billy's opening act, it was painful. Once Billy took the stage there was no mistaking the Rock Concert had begun. His heart is still in his music! Enjoyed every minute of his show.

  • He’s still got it!

by JESSLK on 8/17/25Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre - Tinley ParkRating: 5 out of 5

What an amazing performance! Joan Jett came in for an amazing opener, followed by an incredible show by Billy Idol. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

Seats were good but they closed the lawn seats and was not comfortable with everyone packing around seats

  • Great show, Awful audience

by Dave on 8/17/25Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre - Tinley ParkRating: 3 out of 5

Billy Idol puts on a terrific show. All his familiar hits, performed with great energy and well honed production, backed by a truly talented band. I’ve seen him perform at least 5 times at various venues over the last 3 years, and this was his best show of them all. Rock goddess Joan Jett and the Blackhearts opened the night in fine fashion with a solid performance as well. Highlights for me were “I love Rock and Roll” of course, and a great rendition of “Crimson and Clover”. My issue is with the multitude of low-class, drunk, poorly behaved “fans” that managed to distract from an otherwise great evening. There seems to be an unwritten but popular practice of people without pavilion tickets to the Union One Amphitheater sneaking into the pavilion sections and moving around from seat to seat hoping actual ticket holders won’t show up to claim their seats. We saw this going on all around us. And of course these people tend to be the ones that also manage to be the most obnoxious to everyone around them during the show. The obnoxious beast without a ticket that sat in front of me had put away 6 beers in the hour between doors opening and the start of the show. His companion felt the need to stand up on the seat while dancing and singing throughout. There were also plenty of people who felt free to be smoking, which can be quite difficult to tolerate for some sensitive people. Overall thoughts: I enjoyed the music, but it’s not worth putting up with the rest of it. I won’t be back.

  • The King of The Rockin’ Fist Pump at 69 yrs old

by Sconfer on 8/17/25Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre - Tinley ParkRating: 5 out of 5

First, Joan Jett opened and set the rockin’ tone for the evening. Next, as the crowd was pumped, the leather clad bad boy took the stage with energy only he can bring. The LCD back drop painted vivid scenes which was only surpassed by the quality of the band and his outstanding backup singers. He played the venue like a master showman ensuring each section got to see him. Mid-concert he ripped off his shirt and tossed it to a lucky fan. With all the hits from Mony Mony, Rebel Yell, Dancing With Myself, Eyes Without a Face —to name a few and some tracks off the new album, fans were not disappointed. Instrumental songs by his band included the Top Gun Anthem , Segovia like master riffs, and collages of Led Zeppelin by Steve Stevens. You can guess what song he finished with by introducing it “Alright Steve, show them what a hit song sounds like, will ya?” It was a great day to….tour again!

  • Excellent show by Idol and Jett

by DaveRocker on 8/17/25Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre - Tinley ParkRating: 5 out of 5

Truly a great show and reflection of 80s rock that is the best. Jett sounded awesome and played a variety of Blackharts and Runaways music in addition to her solo work. Idol knows how to work a crowd. His band was great and I loved his backup female singers - they were so cool. His voice sounded good and he played every single of his best hits

  • Always great!

Billy Idol always delivers it. Great energy and crowd interaction. Wish he played more songs and more songs from recent albums.

  • Billy still rocks!

Great show, great venue. Billy Idol still has it. He sounded great, the stage was fun.

Cool places with places to eat and drink Bathrooms are close by and very clean, nice environment and sweet spot

  • Billy Idol was AWESOME! The opener, well….

by Chuck on 8/17/25Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre - Tinley ParkRating: 5 out of 5

First time seeing Billy Idol (I’m 53/M, two daughters 21/25) he was awesome! He was all over the stage, a REAL entertainer and performer! His back up singers, wow! And his band of course was flawless! I now have new songs I didn’t even know they made that are on my playlist! My daughters love his music/they have great taste like their dad 😉 The problem for me was his opener, Joan Jett. She sounded great! But she also used the stage to give some political views that I wish I hadn’t paid to hear. Joan the United States isn’t going to become militarized. Please for the love of God stop thinking we’re going to lose the freedoms to see concerts. Her words, not mine. And please leave your politics at the door. You’ve made your money from performing and singing, not from being a political activist. I’ve been a Chicago Firefighter for nearly 30yrs, the color, the race, the politics, the religion beliefs are left at the door when I’m giving my life to save another. So please just perform for people and keep rocking! Without the politics.

  • Good concert.

by NParnell on 8/17/25Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre - Tinley ParkRating: 4 out of 5

The concert itself was good. However, we had lawn seats and the lawn was not open. We had no where to sit and we're forced to gather in the walk way. My disabled husband cannot stand that long. There should have been an alternative place for him to go sit. Also parking attendants where not paying any attention when we came in. They were literally on their phones. Felt like with the cars. We have a handicap placard and had to drive all the way to the back of the lot and then go threw traffic cones to get back to the front where the ADA parking was.

  • GREAT show!

by Richards on 8/17/25Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre - Tinley ParkRating: 5 out of 5

The venue was great. Clean and secure. Billy Idol gets better every year, it’s unbelievable. Steve Stevens is a guitar legend. Joan Jett was slow and boring IMO

  • A nice upgrade

by Karan on 8/17/25Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre - Tinley ParkRating: 5 out of 5

We arrived at Credit Union 1 to find that our tickets had been upgraded. That was a nice upgrade and surprise. Where we were sitting you could see and hear really well. Still confused as to what made this upgrade happen. But it was nice. Billy performance was great. Very energetic. That is what you want from a performer. I have been to other concerts were the the artist just stood in one place. If he comes back I would go again.

  • Great Show, Venue needs Work

by Disappointed on 8/17/25Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre - Tinley ParkRating: 3 out of 5

We had great seats! But unfortunately people were allowed to come from the back of our section and stand to watch the concert in between the sections. The one young man that was working was afraid to tell them to go back to their seats. Very unfortunate for those of us that paid to be close to the stage.

  • Amazing

by The absolute best show on 8/17/25Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre - Tinley ParkRating: 5 out of 5

This may well have been the best concert I have ever attended. The joy and enthusiasm of the performance was off the charts. He is clearly having so much fun performing. Billy looks and sounds amazing. The band (so great to see Steve and Billy together) is outstanding. The entire set was tremendous - the new songs are super (Too Much Fun is such a great song and captures the spirit of the show). This is the must see tour of 2025. I will go again!
