Billy Gardell works hard. He has no choice. He's from Pittsburgh. Hard work is the honor code in Pittsburgh, and Gardell lives by it.
And now all this hard work is paying off for Billy, he is the star of the new CBS hit comedy MIKE & MOLLY (Mondays at 9:30PM) where he plays Officer Mike Biggs. And on February 5, 2011, he stars in his own one hour stand-up Comedy Central special - BILLY GARDELL: HALFTIME. A DVD of the special will be released on February 8th.
Billy isn't your average Hollywood success story. No GQ genetics, no family in the business, no coattails to ride. He took the long road to get here, stopping at every small town honky-tonk, military base, and comedy club along the way. Anywhere he could find a live audience.
Billy started early in stand up and got good fast; headlining some clubs before he was legal at the door. But that didn't stop him from being as big a hit at the bar as he was on stage. After all, the kid was living his dream and following in the footsteps of his idol, Jackie Gleason.
As every comic quickly learns when they arrive in L.A., all those years of toiling in the clubs to become a great comic don't mean a thing in Hollywood. You start working your way up all over again. But before long, Billy have built quite impressive acting resume for himself with regular guest appearances on My Name is Earl, The Practice, Yes Dear, Monk, Judging Amy, Desperate Housewives as well as a co-starring role in the critically acclaimed FX series Lucky. On the big screen, Billy made his film debut alongside Anthony Quinn and Sylvester Stallone in Avenging Angelo and afterwards scored a rather memorable scene with Billy Bob Thornton in the Cohen Brother's Bad Santa.
Billy's dedication to acting, along with continuing to tour as a stand up, have allowed him to grow consistently stronger in both arenas. His stand up show is a powerhouse. His grounded, down-to-earth point of view hits a strong chord with American audiences. Stories about his rough childhood, wild adolescence, and new family life are executed with the skill of a master craftsman.
In his spare time, Billy enjoys spending time with his son and following the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The show was good. Gardell's storytelling was spot-on, and his self-deprecation and vulnerability in his humor was very sweet and genuine. I will definitely see him again.
We had the best time at his show and best seats I hope he comes back again next year we look forward to it I can't say enough about him he is amazing.
Billy Gardell and his opening act had me laughing so much I was checking my watch near the end because my neck muscles were getting sore! The venue itself kind of looks like a large converted barn (the way the ceiling sloped looked like that) but the two big screens made it easy to see Billy. I'd go see him again in a heartbeat.
Want to take my friends next time! Our throats were raw from laughing!
We from Pittsburgh LOVE Billy. We followed him from his spots on the radio. He is ALWAYS funny and has a can’t miss show.
This is the second time we have seen Billy Gardell and he did not disappoint!! We laughed so hard we had tears in our eyes. Billy puts on a great show and you leave still laughing remembering the jokes he told you earlier. Will definitely see him again!!
My husband and I went to the show. We loved it from beginning to the end. His bits were very relatable and hysterical. Can’t wait to see him again.

I recommend seeing Billy in person. He was absolutely hilarious and worth the price to see him. We drove from St. Louis to Kansas City to see him. I would definitely go see him again.
Didn't know what to expect, but I laughed the whole show. Much funnier than I could imagine. If you liked him in Mike & Molly, I highly recommend seeing his show.

Loved the show- Would definitely see him again. it was great.
Best show I’ve seen in a long time. I would see him again anywhere anytime
Billy Gardell is hilarious. Very down to earth. Very relatable. Has not lost that real life parenting and everyday life even though he has become very successful! Very humble to his fans. Would have loved the chance to have bought VIP meet and greet.
I saw him perform at the same place a couple years ago and had to see him again. Even though I had a very long day, this was perfect to end my day. His opening act Brian Green is a local comedian here in Milwaukee who does shows at an Improv company called "Comedy Sportz". He was also very good and you can see him at "Comedy Sportz" on the weekends. Just keep in mind that he may not be there because they have many who perform the shows.
