About

Billy Gardell works hard.  He has no choice.  He's from Pittsburgh.  Hard work is the honor code in Pittsburgh, and Gardell lives by it.

And now all this hard work is paying off for Billy, he is the star of the new CBS hit comedy MIKE & MOLLY (Mondays at 9:30PM) where he plays Officer Mike Biggs.  And on February 5, 2011, he stars in his own one hour stand-up Comedy Central special - BILLY GARDELL: HALFTIME.  A DVD of the special will be released on February 8th.

Billy isn't your average Hollywood success story.  No GQ genetics, no family in the business, no coattails to ride.  He took the long road to get here, stopping at every small town honky-tonk, military base, and comedy club along the way.  Anywhere he could find a live audience.

Billy started early in stand up and got good fast; headlining some clubs before he was legal at the door.  But that didn't stop him from being as big a hit at the bar as he was on stage.  After all, the kid was living his dream and following in the footsteps of his idol, Jackie Gleason.

As every comic quickly learns when they arrive in L.A., all those years of toiling in the clubs to become a great comic don't mean a thing in Hollywood.  You start working your way up all over again.  But before long, Billy have built quite impressive acting resume for himself with regular guest appearances on My Name is Earl, The Practice, Yes Dear, Monk, Judging Amy, Desperate Housewives as well as a co-starring role in the critically acclaimed FX series Lucky.  On the big screen, Billy made his film debut alongside Anthony Quinn and Sylvester Stallone in Avenging Angelo and afterwards scored a rather memorable scene with Billy Bob Thornton in the Cohen Brother's Bad Santa.

Billy's dedication to acting, along with continuing to tour as a stand up, have allowed him to grow consistently stronger in both arenas.  His stand up show is a powerhouse.  His grounded, down-to-earth point of view hits a strong chord with American audiences.  Stories about his rough childhood, wild adolescence, and new family life are executed with the skill of a master craftsman.

In his spare time, Billy enjoys spending time with his son and following the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Simply the funniest best time I had. Loved the venue, seating was a little to tight because it felt we were riding a plane

    Billy Gardell

by Michelle on 11/19/19Emerald Queen Casino - Tacoma

We bought four tickets in the VIP section. The warm up act was very funny but Billy was exceptional in the way he shared his personal life and made it so relatable. The four of us all enjoyed the show and would love to see him again sometime. Excellent experience.

Great comedian would definitely see again

by Darticus on 11/19/19Emerald Queen Casino - Tacoma

The warm up comic was great. Billy Gardell was hilarious and down to earth just a regular super funny guy, and that made it even better. Kept politics out of the act so it was fanatastic for once. Weve seen craig ferguson, ron white, lewis black and Billys show was in the top two. If you want some laughs from start to finish id recommend seeing him.

Billy Gardell is more than what is on TV.

by Chott on 10/24/19Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

Billy was fantastic! The Cincinnati crowd was small but he definitely came out and killed it. He is extremely relatable and leaves you thinking about his performance for days afterwards. We can’t wait to see him again.

    Hilarious Night Out!

by Reds Fan 41 on 10/23/19Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

We went to this show with some dear friends with whom we had not socialized in a while. I had seen Billy previously and was the one that advocated for this night out. I told my wife and our friends that Billy was hilarious and the show would be great. And we were not disappointed. Billy had us rolling in the aisles laughing pretty much non-stop. He also mixed in some important life lessons with the humor. The only downer was the crowd was way too small for such a talented and engaging entertainer. I sincerely hope that does not keep him from coming back to Cincinnati again soon!

Great Jokes and Storytelling about Life

by MintJuleo on 10/23/19Taft Theatre - Cincinnati

I recognized Billy’s photo in and ad for this comedy show and decided to go even though I had never seen the show Mike and Molly nor was I aware he is a comedian. He is a top notch performer with many jokes about life and families. I would see his show again without question.

Paid good money for a suite. The seats were awful, and the e wascc Co way to much outside noise.

Great show.. venue not so much

by yoyo on 10/22/19Harrah's Hoosier Park Terrace Showroom - Anderson

Billy was great.... the venue was not so much at all... It was at Hoosier Park Casino & we had front row... Sounds great but the row starred at a wall. The stage was 18 feet to our left and we would have had better seats by paying less for 10th row as all we seen was a neck shot most of the night. Hoosier Park is not a place to sit in the front 10 rows unless you are right in front of the stage. Great show from the neck up (as this is all I could see.)

    Great show!

by JMurf on 7/23/19The Cabot - Beverly

Billy Gardell killed it last Saturday night at the beautiful Cabot Theater in Beverly MA. He mixed it up flawlessly and had great and very funny advice for the married couples in the audience! We enjoy his show Mike and Molly in reruns pretty much everyday after work for some comic relief and are looking forward to his new show coming out in the fall on CBS, Bob ♥ Abishola. Both opening comics were also a riot! Jack Lynch is from my hometown and he nailed it with his blue collar comedy and witty quips!

by s. c. on 7/15/19NYCB Theatre at Westbury - Westbury

Mr gardell was funny without being dirty. . His skit was about his married life and son, touched upon his dad who recently passed away. His opening act was also very funny. Was a great night out. Westbury music fair is a great venue. Ate dinner at westbury diner which I wouldn’t recommend.
