Fabulous!!! Outstanding talent. Entertaining cast. High energy and audience grabbing excitements!
My wife and I have attended four productions of Billy Elliot. This production is outstanding in every way. Great cast, great settings, poignant without over sentimentality. A high energy production worth a repeat visit.
That is, it's almost impossible to believe that a youngster of 14years old could so thoroughly command a stage of a major Broadway type production to the extent Nicholas Dante demonstrated during the matinee on Thursday. I've lost count as to the number of reviews I've written on Billy Elliot the Musical over the years, or on the performances of dozens of youngster I've viewed in the role of Billy. Nicholas' interpretation on this day literally left me dumbfounded, notwithstanding, blowing the roof off Drury Lane's theater in the process. A performance of an extraordinary range of emotional acting ability, highly skilled dancing ability in both tap and classical ballet...this kid has it all and he delivers it all with an energy level which defys logic. The show is in town until the 7th of June and I anticipate not letting it leave town without seeing it three more times You would do yourself a favor by taking your entire family to see it as well. You will be thoroughly rewarded by his magnificent performance.
Play met all of my expectations. Exceptional performances.
Can't say enough about Billy Elliot!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!! It is a MUST SEE!!!
If you have not booked yourself and your family to view "Billy Elliot the Musical" at Drury Lane's elegant theater, your are missing a production which is equal to, if not, better than the original performance either in NYC, the Oriental in Chicago, or the International Tour. The adult cast is utterly superb, and you will fall in love with the youngsters who make up the heart and soul of this musical. Leading that group, of course, are Nicholas Dante and Kyle Halford alternating in the role of "Billy," and Michael Harp as best friend "Michael." And speaking of superb, Nic and Kyle command the show with their acting, gorgeous dancing, and faultless interpretation of "Billy's" role in the story. These two youngsters are magnificent throughout, and should not be missed. Having viewed numerous "Billy's" across the globe at major venues, Nic and Kyle would blow the roofs off any venue in which they might appear. They are that good. Michael Harp as Billy's star crossed friend fulfills the role with great humor and is a scene stealer in his own right. All in all, the staging, the lighting, Elton John's score, and most of all the dancing and story line will capture your heart and make you a Billy fan for life. This is a show which should not be missed. Even if you know nothing about the story and music, it is still a must see. Do yourself and your family a favor and don't pass it up.
What a terrific play! Characters did a phenomenal job.
I have seen Billy Elliot about 5 years ago and loved it! After Les Mis and Book of Mormons, this is my 3rd favorite musical of all time. Drury Lane's production is absolutely awesome, comparable with the Chicago production I saw a few years back. The Drury cast was great. Billy was exceptional, so was the Dad. The grandma was great too. I have listened to Grandma's song many times, but I never felt that much sadness when she sang it. I loved Michael too! That kid is a natural actor. Great comic timing. Of course, the reading of Mum's letter was heartbreaking. There was sobbing all around!
My mother and I attended both the dinner and the show. Everything was fabulous and a great value. The dinner was delicious and the show was first rate. The boy who played Billy was just fantastic and the rest of the cast were excellent as well. Not a bad seat in the house and no traffic or parking fee. Certainly more convenient than downtown and still excellent quality. We will definitely be doing this again!
The Drury Lane Theater has a dinner option in addition to the show. The selection of an entree was easy as there were adequate choices. The dinner was good and the service excellent. I was a fan of the Billy Elliot movie and have always had an interest in seeing the show. A trip to Chicago coincided with the production at the Drury Theater so we signed up. We were not dissapointed. The cast was exceptional and the performance highly enjoyable. I would recommend this experience without reservation.
I drive three hours one way to Drury Lane, so my investment in a day at the theater is more than just the price of a ticket. However, I can honestly say that I got more than my money's worth with the production of BILLY ELLIOT. I want to give particular credit to the dialog coach. The dialects in BILLY ELLIOTT were totally believable AND totally understandable. Nicholas Dante (Billy) is an extremely talented and advanced dancer despite his young age, but Michael Harp (as Billy's cross-dressing friend) steals the show.
Very entertaining with a very talented cast. My family and I really enjoyed this play. Highly recommended. And so easy to get to in the Western suburbs.
Billy Elliot was amazing. A good mix of comedy , drama and dance. Love to see under dog prevail. Actors were onspot and perfect fit . Billy Elliot and the dance instructor were my favorites. It will move you from laughter to tears. You wilil be engrossed in the action and time will escape you. Highly recommend the show for a nice evening out.
Everyone in this show gives the audience a treat for a lifetime---don't miss the chance to be wow-ed!
I was impressed with the children and teens in this production - their ability to sing and dance was fun to watch! Lots of energy and moving moments.
Having seen the touring version (twice) in Chicago, I would say that this production not only stands up well, but even exceeds the original. The cast is excellent. The role of Billy Elliot demands a continuing presence on the stage complete with complex and energetic dance sequences.
The finest production and interpretation of this fantastic musical presented, and you can find it all on the Drury Lane's stage from now until June 7th. On this day the role of Billy was played by Kyle Hanford who provided the audience with another sterling performance in perfect line with all his previous presentations. The supporting cast is above first rate, notwithstanding, the music, lighting, and most of all the dancing, will delight all parents and youngster who see this musical. And, in fact, all parents and children should see Billy Elliot, given it is a story of courage and determination to pursue one's artistic nature despite communal pressures to do otherwise. In Kyle Hanford you will find a performance of stamina unlike any role known to a young man of his age. He commands the stage and he demands your attention through his Iconic acting and dancing, literally, never letting go. He is the heart of the production and worth all time and money to see perform.
The show is very well done. The young man playing Billy at our show was excellent. Please note, this is NOT a family friendly version. The cursing is probably 75% more than necessary for the story. My 10 year old learned several new words. But that is just a parents opinion
Very entertaining from start to finish. Great acting, music and dancing. Our nine year daughter wants to go see it again..
The level of talent was incredible! It was very fun to watch and enjoyable for us all!
