Billy Crystal - Best Show Ever!

    by Bell56 on 10/27/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

A marvelous evening! Billy was onstage for 2 1/2 hours and kept the audience laughing and cheering. The second half was a lovely remembrance of his father's life that ended when Billy was 15. The show was unforgettable.

Billy Crystal tugs at the heartstrings!

by MNLynn on 10/27/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

Fabulous production! Billy Crystal is a gifted storyteller. Loved the way they tied in the set of his childhood home to display all the home videos. It was very effective. He's a very lucky man to have such vivid memories or his childhood -- even the difficul memories -- and such a rich heritage of creative family members to draw from. We laughed out loud and wiped away tears. Couldn't ask for more!

Loved the show, Billy was excellent and full of energy. We were on vacation and bought the tickets at the last minute. I would have welcomed binocular rental at the theater, as we were seated way way in the back

I enjoyed the book so much that I bought it as a Father's Day gift for both my husband and my father. I had such high expectations of this one-man performance, and Billy Crystal exceeded every one of them. We laughed from start to finish. Having the windows turn into screens for old photos and movies added so much to the enjoyment. I can't think of one thing that could have made it better. We drove 6 hours from Chicago just to see 700 Sundays and it was worth every mile and minute.

    700 Sundays Was Amazing!

by BRBiker on 10/26/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

Bill Crystal is simply outstanding. He is quite possibly the be best "all around entertainer" of our time. To think he could hold your attention for almost 3 hours and do so in a way that the time just flew by. I was expecting it to be funny but I had no idea how powerful the 2nd half would be and how it would touch me personally. My father died when I was very young and I recently lost my mom as well and to hear his story was very emotional and comforting for me. But then, to fold back in the humor and end in such a positive way. It just shows what great writing there was in the show. You can really tell he loves the stage and commands it in ways that very few actors can. A great big thank you for bringing back this masterpiece for a second round and thanks for choosing Minneapolis to get it rolling. He may never know how much this show means to me personally having lived though some of the same things you shared. You never think for a second this guy is in his mid sixties. He never looked more fit!

Billy Crystal is delightful in Minneapolis!

by EllyCarol on 10/26/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

Billy Crystal came to Minneapolis with his Broadway hit, "700 Sundays" for a week in October 2013. Billy never fails to entertain! Mr. Crystal is bright, animated, quick-witted, and we sat with huge smiles on our faces as Billy (the solo actor in the 2 act play) told the story of his family and his start in show business. Mr. Crystal told the touching and personal story of himself and brothers and the 700 Sundays he had with his dear old Dad. You could feel the emotion for his mother, dad, brothers and his wife, Janice. While there, I met several people there who thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Crystal, as I did. Go see this show! You will have a big smile on your face too! Thanks, Billy!

This was such an unexpected treat. Mr Crystal shared his life story and made it very entertaining and fun. Plus he touched on the sadness his family lived with when his father passed away. It was a memorable night.

Laugh yourself silly for 2 1/2 hours

by ontherd on 10/26/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

Billy Crystal did not disappoint. He has got his timing down pat. He lets the laughs subside before continuing and you herareverything. Drove from KC to Minneapolis to see this show and it was well worth it. Anyone who has a chance to see it should do so. Billy told his story poignantly and with humor. We were amazed that he can single handedly carry this show - non-stop commentary for 2 1/2 houtd

    Billy Crystal is the best!

by DorieAnn on 10/26/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

I have always wanted to see Billy Crystal and when I found out he was coming to the Twin Cities I just had to get tickets. My husband and I attended and although I'm a bigger fan, he enjoyed it equally as much as I did. Not only was he incredibly funny, but it was very touching to hear him talk about his Dad and his early death. I feel like the Twin Cities was very lucky to get this show before it returned to Broadway. Billy even came out at the end of show and talked some to the crowd. After two hours of a one-man show that was true showmanship! As a white Catholic girl from the Midwest, even I could relate to his crazy Jewish family. I'll never forget it!

    "700 Sundays" is a hit

    by Thomas618 on 10/26/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

700 Sundays is the story of Billy Crystal's life. In ways, he is like nearly all of us. His parents loved him and they died (his father far to soon), he found a mate, they had children and he had a career. But unlike us, Billy's family played a major role in American culture. His uncle recorded Billy Holiday's "Strange Fruit" when no other record label would. Billy saw his first movie sitting on Billy Holiday's lap. His father produced jazz concerts for Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and other jazz legends. So in these ways his family and life are in no way like ours. But in the end, Billy tells us that what is really important in life, no matter who you are, is finding love, being in family, doing what you like to do and being kind. Billy is a mensch. I laughed a lot in the show, but I cried more. Go see it. It made me feel grateful for what I have in life, even though I've been knocked down a bit this Fall.

    Billy Crystal was amazing !!!

    by DALTX2 on 10/26/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

So glad that we traveled from Dallas just to see this show in Minneapolis. The story was heart warming, hilarious, sentimental, and moving. Mr. Crystal gave 150% giving two hours of his life story to us in a flawless performance. Would definitely go again, given the opportunity. Also, so appreciated that he Pre-signed (not a stamped signature) his book, 700 Sundays posters and programs, as well as baseballs and mugs for us to purchase as a keepsake.

by Divadude on 10/26/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

Who knew Billy Crystal had such an amazing childhood? Example: He went to his first movie with Billie Holiday. I have seen him countless times in films and on TV and always liked him but never adored him. Seeing him in this show, I finally appreciate his immense talent and charm.

    so funny it hurt

by BigjohnS on 10/25/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

Basically a tribute to his father, the influences in his early life. He held us in his hand and the laughs followed through out the performance. Did not realize how good a baseball player he was, but he walked away to do what he wanted to do and there was of course a woman involved
