About

BILLY CONNOLLY IN CONCERT:

Sideways-thinking and speed-chatting Scotsman Billy Connolly is a consummate improv performer and storyteller, regaling crowds with off-kilter folk songs and ridiculously circuitous stories for decades. Fans can always expect something weird, canny, and Scottish at his winking live shows as he works his way through new material and old standbys from his expansive discography. Having bounced back from prostate cancer in 2013, he remains an unstoppable force of funny on his 2014 tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Originally trained as a welder, Glaswegian comic Billy Connolly was inspired to a life of performing after one too many drinks at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Seeing the freaks and geeks he realized he could do the same, taking up banjo lessons and forming the comic-folk duo the Humblebums. His hilarious introductions before the band’s shows gained him recognition as a comic, and when the band split in the '70s, he took his act solo. Since then, he's gone on to achieve legendary status as a funnyman, writer, actor, and massive influence on subsequent generations of "tongues."

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"First time I have managed to see Billy live and he was amazing. We laughed from the minute he came on until he finished.”

"Billy Connolly is one of the best comedians! I've seen him perform in multiple countries now and have never been disappointed."

"Billy was the best comedy show I have ever seen. Laughed so hard I cried and my sides hurt.”

Billy Connolly's ability to go down a garden path tangent, and then reel it right back to where he wandered off every time is amazing. He does perform longer than the usual comedy act, crossing at least the 2 hour mark.

    He's still got it!

by Glescakeelie on 5/22/16The Wilbur - Boston

Rare treat to see and hear billy on stage. He's still able to make us laugh at life absurdities up to and including his own health. He always makes me take some small pride in sharing the infamous Glasgow humor that is sometimes indecipherable to non Glaswegians. We will laugh as the bombs are falling. Love you billy Connolly.

    2+ Hrs of pure delight!

    by LoDogg2015 on 5/21/16Warner Theatre - Washington

Mr. Connolly provided 140 minutes of entertainment with no signs of his Parkinson's disease slowing him down in the least. The Warner Theater sound system could be better as at times with his Scottish accent and low mike decibel levels, it was hard to understand parts of the performance.

Billy Connolly - Best Live Scottish Comedian

by MDCockney on 5/18/16Warner Theatre - Washington

I'm a Brit Expat and Billy was fantastic. Edgy & Funny, Never Disappoints his audience. Billy used to play with his band in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. My Brother-in-Law says to tell him "Ian has his Black Pudding" Great show!

    Go see him

by Anonymous on 5/17/16Warner Theatre - Washington

Billy Connolly's stamina is as amazing as is humor. I can only liken his energy to Bruce Springsteen's -- but Connolly's much funnier, even if you can't quote much of his act at work the following day.

Billy Connolly - Scotland's Comedic Saint

    by Muffy61 on 5/17/16Warner Theatre - Washington

For over two hours Billy Connolly took us on a comedy tour. Off we went with one story laughing until our sides ached, then away we went down a side road for a hilarious side story, then back around to where we began. It was an honour to listen to him weave his magic. An evening with Billy Connolly is a treasure

    Connolly was brilliant

by gauchotramp on 5/17/16Warner Theatre - Washington

Connolly laughs at his own jokes for good reason! He's a comedian's comedian, still in touch with the funny.

    by Opals10 on 5/17/16Warner Theatre - Washington

Billy Connolly was a delight to watch, frequently hilarious and great storyteller. Amazing to see him telling non-stop stories and jokes for over two hours with growing energy and enthusiasm through to the end. What a great talent! Splendid entertainment - worth every penny.

Nothing High Horse About Billy--Only Hysterical

by Wittgenstein on 5/17/16Warner Theatre - Washington

Being unable to stop laughing for more than two hours is not a pleasure I usually get to enjoy, but Saturday night was the exception as Connolly once again showed he is one of the great comedians of his generation.

    True master

by HarryFaeGlasgae on 5/17/16Warner Theatre - Washington

Even in old age and poor health, he's the master. He may not have the same energy as earlier years, but he can tell a funny story like no other. Hope you goes on for many more years!

    High Horse

by Drylaw on 5/17/16Warner Theatre - Washington

It was an enjoyable night but nothing to rave about. I hate when artists talk politics and make it one sided, i.e. don't insult ALL the politicians, just one. I am sure you can guess who he picked on. I don't pay money to come hear their political leanings but to hear them sing or make me laugh.

    Billy Connelly-great Scot!

by Kipper60 on 5/2/16Beacon Theatre - New York

Billy has always been one of the funniest people on the planet. Even though he's older and has medical issues, his story telling and timing are as sharp and hilarious as ever! Love him and loved the show.

    A Scotsmen's Comedy!! ;)

by Jamiesons5 on 5/2/16Beacon Theatre - New York

Took my Scotsman to see a Scotsman for his Birthday!! Looks like Billy is back, as my hubby said "it seems like he is back to his old self." He did a lot of Scottish material and kept it real about all his health issues. All in all he made us laugh and that's what it was all about. Thank you to Billy for giving us laughter, that's what it's all about brother!!

He's long in the tooth and can't bounce around the stage like a kid any more but I thought this was one of his best shows in years. Great fun.
