He stayed in the Lone Star State all through high school and went to college in Georgetown, Texas at Southwestern University. He had originally planned on getting a degree in education but ended up working as a DJ in Dallas. It was this job, which led him to try amateur stand-up nights that launched the beginnings of his comedy career. Engvall made the long-distance move to California in 1990 so he could seriously pursue a career in stand-up, and his first major break was co-hosting A Pair of Jokers with Rosie O'Donnell. He also made short appearances on The Golden Girls, The Tonight Show, An Evening at The Improv and The Late Show with David Letterman. By 1996, he had a contract with Warner Bros. and started his series of comedy albums, the first of which was title Here's Your Sign. This went on to become his signature line and a major part of all of his standup routines. He gained widespread notoriety as part of the 2000 Blue Collar Comedy Tour, which included big-name comedians Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy. He went on to participate in the tour for six years, as well as star in three related films, the Blue Collar TV show and a satellite radio show. Fans can follow him on Twitter @billengvall
Did a great set. I have seen so on TV but lots of new to me things. I would see again.
Many stories that we had heard, but still make you laugh all night long. A one time treat for us.
Engvall was on stage for 2 hours and we laughed the whole time. His humor was about everyday life and touched the whole audience. The stories were very funny.
Glad Bill did not retire as "he threatened to a few years ago". This man is still as funny as he used to be---just with new relevant material! Carry on Billy! Look forward to seeing you again!
Bill Engvall always brings his A game to a performance and this one was no different. He was absolutely fantastic and good for us that he cane out of retirement to share his humor in a world that clearly needs it. The venue, however, was not the greatest. Talking Stick Resort is a fabulous location and we enjoyed our 2 night stay. The show being held in a ballroom was a big mistake though. The chairs were all tied together giving a person very little room to sit comfortably. We were in the front row and I was feeling a bit claustrophobic. At least they did have a good number of bars in the ballroom and excellent service If you have an opportunity to see Mr. Engvall, take it! (Before he really decides to retire on us. 😁🤣)
I’ve wanted to see him for the past 15years and finally made it!! Bill Engvall DID NOT disappoint at all. I 10/10 recommend!
Everything about the Bill Engvall performance was great. He had no opening act and did almost two hours of outstanding comedy. Engvall is as good as ever! The show started on time and the venue had very easy access to bars and restrooms. Just a great evening out.
Bill was awesome! I’ve loved him since i was a little girl listening to his CDs while driving to rodeos all over the southwest with my dad. Still love him after 30 years!
Bill Engvall was tremendous! His humor brings to mind a great funny man from the 50s - George Gobel. Appropriate for all ages, the "fun"sneaks up on you, and suddenly you're grabbing your chair to keep from falling out of it. This was 90+ minutes of smiles, laughs, and then doubling over because you were laughing so hard. He talked of retirement. Unless he's tired of the road, retiring would rob countless thousands of a "next opportunity"to see a truly gifted comedian on stage.
Talking Stick had easy parking and the room for the concert set up was good. Bill's funny, his bits on his Thunderbirds flight from Nellis and loving candid extracts including his wife had us laughing. Here's your sign, enjoyed the event.
