BILL COSBY ON TOUR:
Legendary family funnyman Bill Cosby has been making America laugh for over half a century, proving that clean, wholesome humor still has a welcome place in today's stand-up circuit. From his days as Jell-O's spokesman to his role on the eponymous Cosby Show, his folksy demeanor and all-inclusive comedy have made him a national treasure, with a fanbase that spans generations. Hot on the heels of 2013'S Bill Cosby: Far From Finished — his first TV standup special in 30 years — Cosby is once again on tour, treating audiences around the country to his signature brand of family-friendly comedy.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Cosby was a class clown as a young student, but he was also a high achiever, acting as captain of the baseball team and class president. After a demanding work schedule led him to drop out of school, he joined the Navy, continuing to hone his comedic talent while shooting the breeze with fellow servicemen. Soon after his time in the service, Cosby began performing at clubs around the country, ultimately landing a pivotal spot on NBC's Tonight Show. That appearance gained him the exposure he needed to break into acting, paving the way for his Emmy-nominated role on the show I Spy and his popular Saturday morning cartoon Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. His biggest success, however, was the era-defining Cosby Show, which dominated airwaves in the '80s as the most popular TV show in the country for five straight seasons. In addition to numerous acclaimed acting roles, Cosby has continued to perform and record stand-up over the years, racking up a whopping nine Grammys for his comedy albums and cementing his place among the giants of American comedy.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Enjoyed 2hours of laughs! He combined some old material with new material and the result was great laughs. It was a pleasure to experience good clean fun --- no profanity or descriptive sexual encounters used to get a cheap laugh."
"Still he can captivate an audience for 2 1/2 hours while sitting in his chair just telling us hilarious stories as if he was in our living room, just making us laugh our heads off!"
"Cosby is a master. He spoke for 2.5 hours without a note or a prompt. He just told funny story after funny story."
Good clean humor that everyone can relate to. I have followed Cosby for 40 plus years and his material is still as good as ever.
I took the whole family (a little nervous) including my 11 and 13 year olds because we have listened to classic Cosby albums around the house since they were born. I must say that it was a really knock out performance from a man that just knows how to paint a picture of what appears to be real life events. Hilarious real life events. He connected with the audience as soon as he walked onto the stage and continued to mesmerize us with hilarity throughout the performance.
Cosby was hilarious. His routine is just everyday stories, but it is all in his delivery. I was surprised at how small the audience was, and I would encourage others to go watch his show.
Couldn't believe it when it wrapped up. Almost 2 hours without a break. He was on a roll from beginning to end. We loved every minute!
Funny stories, funny jokes. Audience was disruptive and this entertainer allowed it.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Bill was so funny. Besides the heckler that spoiled part of the show, Bill was very calm and picked up right where he left off. Would see him again.
Awesome time. Good clean comedy. Still witty and on his A game. Just wish I could have seen him do the old Cosby kids gang subject matter like Buck Buck.
He has a routine that moves fairly easy from joke to joke. I don't think his most recent Comedy Central performance does his current show justice. He does get lost with some details in the beginning, but picks up steam and finishes strong.
The show was amazing!!! Bill Cosby was Bill Cosby!!! The guy you watched on the Cosby show. He stayed true to his art form. Nice, clean comedy. At one point in the show, someone tried to heckle him which angered the heck out of the audience but Mr. Cosby handled it the way a true professional would. He allowed the guy to speak and simply waited until he was escorted out without responding to his craziness. Afterwards, he carried on as nothing happened. This man is an comedic icon and I'm glad I got a chance to see him In my lifetime.
Bill Cosby is just as funny as he ever was. I used to listens to his albums as a kid and enjoyed his TV personality as an adult. He has a way of connecting to things we all experience in our lives. This show is for all ages and demographics.
Watching Bill Cosby on stage, was TOTALLY ENJOYABLE! His down-to-earth, highly relatable, childhood stories were as captivating as ever.
Age has not changed Mr. Cosby's humor only enhanced it! Great show.
With all the bad press this man has had to endure...he's still a class act. I am so tired of people trying him in the court of public opinion. What ever happened...IF it happened, was over 30 years ago!! Something would and should have been done before now...WAY before now! I totally enjoyed his show....laughed at everything because it was real, reminded me of me...and my life... It's such a joy to be able to come to a comedy show and not have to hear one single cuss word and still have fun.
I had a hard time enjoying him. On the morning I purchased the tickets. the bad news on him broke that afternoon. But we went. We were not going to waste the tickets. We were so looking forward to his clean mouthed fun. I didn't giggle once. But my husband giggled & laughed and that was worth everything. I love to see my husband enjoying himself. We were in the balcony as close to the stage as you can get. The speakers up there were not on. Mr. Cosby's pronunciation isn't sharp so we had a hard time hearing him. I went to an usher (who happened to be the boss usher) and she instructed me to go to the coat check and they furnished me with an ear plug system so we were able to catch what he was saying. He looked like he was in his PJ's.
Great show in a great venue! "The Cos" delivered his trademark clean humor. The 2-hr show was very enjoyable!
I have always been a fan of Cosby and drove 3 states just to see him. The show was worth every mile driven and I'd do it again without hesitation. Laughed harder than any other venue I attended and he kept it going for two straight hours!
Dr. Cosby has still got it! He put on an amazing show filled with huge laughs and meaningful family material. We laughed so hard it felt like we had just worked out afterward. 15 minutes into the show a protestor stood up in the balcony, interrupting by shouting "Rapist!." Dr. Cosby handled this with amazing composure and class. When the audience turned and began shouting down the protestor Dr. Cosby calmed everyone down and got everything quiet. He told us to let this man have his say and then he would be escorted out and the show would continue. And that's exactly what happened. Bill Cosby has been a long time hero of mine and seeing him in person and seeing him handle this situation only made my esteem for him grow.
Bill Cosby is still the best in delivering his style of comedy .Excellent choice of material.
After passing by the idiots protestors outside the theater I found the employees of the Lyric very nice and friendly and helpful. The show started a few minutes later the schedule time, but people still coming in. Mr. Cosby start out a little slow, but pick up pretty fast and once up to speed, he could not be stop even with a Heckler in the theater. (which he handled with such class). I could not stop laughing, the man is still as funny as ever and it was worth every penny to see him.
The performance was amazing. Mr. Cosby came out to a rousing ovation. He performed while making us laugh the entire time. You felt like you were interacting with an old friend or even a father figure while he was on stage. It was amazing and there was no mention of the unfortunate scandal by anyone. Just good, clean comedy by one of the greatest performers of our time.
