Little Fish Drowns in a Pond of Mediocrity

by CATCHBASIN on 10/8/13Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Score poor Book lacked continuity to weave the stories together Choreography unimaginative (except for trees and cowboys) Direction sluggish and very slow paced Actors and Orchestra were the best part of the production

Big fish was an awesome show. The set and costume design were stunning and the special effects lighting made it incredible. I laughed and cried and had a completely wonderful time. The live show blew the movie right out of the water!!!!

    Loved the show!

by cliftonite on 10/8/13Neil Simon Theatre - New York

I thoroughly enjoyed Big Fish! The acting was great - just loved Leo and his ability to transform himself from a teenager to an old man was uncanny. The songs were beautiful and helped to move the story along and the singing and dancing were phenomenal. Best of all were the sets ...it was fantastic to watch trees turn into witches, etc. I did not see the movie or read the book so perhaps that it why I enjoyed the story line....but all in all I would definitely recommend this show to anyone who loves Broadway musicals and a heartwarming story.

Big Fish is sooo worth seeing!

by seamaven on 10/8/13Neil Simon Theatre - New York

The musical was beautifully put together and the story was told so very well. I enjoyed the scenery, and the stage changes were so lifelike. The music was great, and everyone captured my heart! This musical not only entertains, but it tell the story about life, and how you interpret it.

Just saw Big Fish rating among the best on Broadway. The director pulled together a fantasy - reality in a imaginative captivating way. The acting, singing, dancing, scenery, costumes, lighting were superb. The play was feel good from beginning to end.

    Entertaining from the beginning

by lvaughan222 on 10/8/13Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Norbert Leo Butz is an everyman on the stage. Choreography is wonderful and entire show is engaging and entertaining from the very beginning.

Entertaining but it lacked some of the emotional depth of the movie. Set design was beautiful and visually amazing. I was on the mezzanine, though, and it is hard to see one of the main elements at the front of the stage.

Big Fish is a MUST SEE!

by BrianD44 on 10/8/13Neil Simon Theatre - New York

Had the opportunity to see Big Fish this past weekend. Knowing the story from the movie already, they did a fantastic job of weaving the story and translating it to the stage. The set design, lighting and integrating the costumes into the visual spectacle were stupendous. Great music, dance numbers and acting all around. An absolute MUST SEE. We will be going to see it again!!

And the Tony goest to Big Fish for set design!

by dutchessnancy on 10/8/13Neil Simon Theatre - New York

A nice story but not memorable! Music is very nice but you don't walk out humming any of it. My way of judging a show. Leo Norbert Butz is always great but I think he looked like he wanted to bust out of a paper bag. The set design is ingenious! Flows so perfectly smooth! Have to admit though it is the only time I have ever cried at the end of a show.

The play was amazing, very touching

by yellaf on 10/8/13Neil Simon Theatre - New York

This musical is amazing. The producers were able to combine a fantasy, a comedy, and drama all in one play. It was very touching. Everybody had tears of sadness and joy at the same time at the end. I believe at's a great family event to go to with your tweens/teens. Five stars!!!

    Go to Big Fish

by MakeMusic on 10/8/13Neil Simon Theatre - New York

The characters were all very interesting and played their parts well. All the singers were very good. There was a lot of imagination used in building the plot, and there was a lot of variety in the scenes. The audience responded very enthusiastically. I hope it is nominated for a Tony.
