Fans in search of toe-tapping, brass-honking, high-energy swing revival need look no further than Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. The slick, stylish group have always been as tight as a drum on record, but their live performances are even more impressive, inciting furious dancing among veteran and novice swing dancers alike. Dressed to the nines in their trademark zoot suits and brandishing upbeat favorites like "Go Daddy-O" and "Mr. Pinstripe Suit," Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will take the stage with more energy than ever on their upcoming tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was formed in Southern California in 1989 by frontman Scotty Morris and drummer Kurt Sodergren. After self-releasing their eponymous debut album in 1994, the band got their big break when their songs "Go-Daddy-O," "Mr. Pinstripe Suit," and "You & Me & The Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby)" were featured in the 1996 cult film classic Swingers. The popularity boost that followed landed them a deal with Capitol Records, resulting in a string of swinging albums that included Americana Deluxe (1998) and Save My Soul (2003). In addition to performing in the 1999 Super Bowl half-time show, the band has shared the stage with some of the world's leading symphony orchestras, including the LA Phil and the San Francisco Symphony. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy fans have plenty to look forward to as the boys hit the road for another electric round of shows.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"These guys are one of the slickest units touring today. They deliver to goods every night and watching the interaction on stage is really the cherry on top. Everything a professional touring band should be."
"...if you like big band music you will never see better players and/or performers! Truly amazing players and Scott the lead singer was spot on as always!"
"As good as the recordings are, they are even better live! The lead singer, Scotty, has a unique voice, great style, and a charming attitude. The band was masterful and tight."
I've seen them several times and will keep going back. You can't help but dance along to their swingin' sound...and their lead trumpet player is a POWERHOUSE...
I bought tickets to see BBVD for me and my friend to celebrate her birthday...we both LOVE swing/Big Band sound.....The show was incredible from the minute they stepped on stage to the minute they left....it's a day later and I still have chills. Would absolutely come to see them every chance I could....great night!!!!!!!!! Unforgettable!!! Swingin!!!!!
BBVD never disappoint! They are the tightest sounding, class act, you could ever hope to see! I drive home with a smile on my face and anxious for the next show!
I've seen BBVD several times over the last 13 years and as always, they put on a fantastic show. They played a variety of songs from their latest release "How Big Can You Get: The Cab Calloway Tribute", including Hey Now, The Reefer Man and the staple Minnie the Moocher. The set featured their own tried and true Mr. Pinstripe Suit, Mambo Swing, etc. Full of energy and engaging the audience, BBVD excels at putting on a show, all while making the music the main event.
This is the first time I saw BBVD and will not miss another show. My husband brought me, we were front row leaning on the stage, and were absolutely blown away by the talent. I hope Trump Marina brings them back soon.
HE IS BIG IN SOUND...HE IS BAD TO THE BEAT...AND HE IS SOMEBODYS DADDY !!!!! DONT MISS HIM. BEAT ME DADDY ....EIGHT TO THE BAR..... AND "THE KID" IS TERRIFIC...AL PROFESSIONALS
High energy, crowd pleasing show. The musicianship of the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy band would make Cab Calloway proud!
These guys are so talented, have awesome energy on stage. The music is perfect for all ages, young and young at heart. I would rate them 10 stars. If you don't go to see them, you are missing out on a great show! Go see them, you will love them too!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic show - BBVD played straight through for an hour and a half - no opener, no intermission, and their energy never flagged. The Ark was an excellent venue for this show. I will absolutely go when they come to town again.
Always a great, energetic show. Absolutely recommend it.
From the moment BBVD began playing, my feet, legs, head, hands, and heart didn't stop moving. There are no words for the excitement they produce in their music. I will be returning as often as I can. WooHoo! Lots of high energy fun.
This was an excellent show at a nice cozy place, The Ark. The group interacted with the audience during the show and afterwards came out and sat at tables to sign autographs and talk with the people. They were very appreciated and friendly. If you like Jazz and the big band sounds, you have to see Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
Great upbeat band, good vocals, great humor, lot's of knee slapping, liked it very much.
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was just amazing!!! They sound better live. I recommend!!! They will get you to start swing dancing!
venue was great, performance was great, energy was amazing!, one of my favorite concerts ever!
The event had a lounge feeling that brings you back to when swing was popular and let's you see inside a world most of us are too young to know about.
Can you say happy smiling faces, not a frown in the place. This is one of the most entertaining groups touring today. Have been a fan of BBVD for over a decade, and the continuity of the group shows. These guys are truely friends and show men loving every minute of their performance. The setting the dress and stage performance was over the top. Something I'll never forget....... Don't miss this show
I've never seen the band before and boy was I surprised!! They were great. The best $45.00 I've spent in along time.
I never heard of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy until I was trying to find something fun to do in Nashville, and now, I'm an instant fan! The music was fabulous and the group was entertaining and engaging. I couldn't take my eyes off of them for even a moment. BBVD blends true musical talent and entertainment. If you're looking for a memorable night of music, dancing and fun- they're the group for you!
Great set. Reminded me of the old days in Los Feliz. The band still has that strong charisma and the guys were strong on the horns. It was a bit weird to see BBVD w/o any dancing but I guess that can't be helped at the Birchmere. Service was actually better than I remember but the food could still be better. Overall, though, a great show at a cool little venue.
