About

All the world's a stage, and the Spanish guitar is one of its greatest instruments. Benise is bringing his Flamenco-inspired pieces and tango-infused dance numbers to the stage, leaving all who hear him spellbound in his wake. Benise is a world-renowned guitarist who has brought his unique blend of Spanish guitar and world music to stages worldwide since the early 2000s. His 2022 tour, aptly named the "20th Anniversary Tour," showcases the best of Benise throughout the years by virtue of music and dance.

His passion for the guitar has taken him on an incredible journey from the streets of Omaha to busking in Southern California and finally to the world stage. Known as "The Prince of Spanish Guitar," Benise has been wowing audiences worldwide with his sizzling music and spellbinding dance for over two decades, rocking fans across the globe with his sultry blend of Spanish guitar and world rhythms, winning the hearts of millions of fans worldwide.

The result: a mesmerizing feast of sight and sound from which no audience member will ever want to escape. Benise has truly mastered an international style of music having been influenced by nearly every genre possible, with great depth and passion vibrating underneath.

Growing up on a farm in Nebraska, his devotion to rock music was palpable. That success was just a twinkle in Benise's eye before finally picking up flamenco music in 1994. From there, he met violinist Jim Sitterly, guitarists Gilberto Gonzales and Yussi, bassist Mychal Lomas, drummer Carlos Lopez, and percussionist CG Ryche and formed a band (also) called Benise.

Benise's sound is primarily influenced by flamenco music and incorporates elements spanning Brazilian samba, Cuban salsa, Parisian waltz, African drumming, and more. The magic happens by bringing together musicians from different countries to create a unique sound that melds their cultures through music.

A significant turning point in Benise's career came when PBS approached him to create a show for its "Great Performances'' series. He spent time writing and recording what would become "Nights of Fire!" -- which made its broadcast debut on public television stations nationwide in 2006 and subsequently won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Costumes for a Variety or Music Program.

Since its debut, "Nights of Fire!" has drawn in audiences of all types -- whether or not they have any familiarity with flamenco music. Dazzling lights, dancers and aerial performers make you feel like you're experiencing something transcendent rather than just listening to a concert.

Benise's ability to reproduce sounds from around the world makes him a force of nature. His original style has earned him worldwide recognition, while he continues to push the envelope. Don't miss out on this unique spellbinding performance and see Benise live when he comes to a city near you.

I have seen the Benise show twice before seeing it in Reno, and was excited to take a couple friends with me, who I had been raving about the show to. The show overall was wonderful and my friends greatly enjoyed it, but I was a bit disappointed that my absolute favorite number was not in the show, the slow tango duet. When I saw the show before it was the choreographer and assistant who danced this piece, and it was exquisite, their chemistry made you swoon, and it was perfectly executed and brilliantly performed. It was the piece I was dying to see again, and actually the choreographer was not there and the assistant was underutilized in this show. The musicians were all amazing, especially Mr. Benise who was very comfortable and charming on stage. This cast of dancers, though they were all good, they were not as refined and crisp as the casts I have seen before. All in all, it is a very entertaining show that I would highly recommend!

  • Benise-Thoroughly Entertaining!

by Coaster51 on 2/16/12Eldorado Hotel and Casino - RenoRating: 5 out of 5

I thought the show was highly entertaining, from the music, to the dancing to the stage sets and backdrops. Benise is very engaging, showing a lot of comfort communicating with the audience and those sharing the stage with him. I particularly was impressed with his musical accompaniment. The violin player, the guitarist (whose birthday was that night), and the percussionist were amazing. Their backup and their solos were so enjoyable, you hated to see it end. My focus on the musical side should not be construed as a slight to the dancing. They were excellent and made their moves effortlessly and flawlessly. All in all, a great night!

  • Benise rocked the stage!

    by bbook1997 on 1/31/12Eldorado Casino - RenoRating: 5 out of 5

Flamenco mixed with Led Zeppelin? Cuban mixed with Eagles? They made it work! It was quite an interesting fusion of music and dance. The duels between the violin and the Spanish guitar were fantastic, and the ladies were hot! Benise put on a heck of a show!

  • Benise "Spanish Guitar"

by onewingnut on 11/15/11Plaza Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 3 out of 5

After waiting 4 months with great anticipation of seeing Benise again, I was let quite let down by the overall show. I was so excited because I was taking my daughter again and was able to get outstanding seats. The overall production of the show was disheartening. Seeing Benise in Daytona made me buy tickets for this show. Musically it was just ok. I was not impressed with the other musicians as I just didn't feel them draw you into the show. The choreography was clean, but lacked the drama compared to the "Nights of Fire" show. I presume that the show was very scaled down due to the size of the venue, but the stage at the Peabody (Daytona) looked to be the same size. We had fun with the people who sat around us, which made it enjoyable. Will I go again? I'll have to think real hard about that................

  • It was fantastic!

by Huascaran on 11/14/11Plaza Live Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was wonderful, colorful, and enjoyable.Benise is great composer, guitarist and performer. Even more, he is a good dancer and handsome artist. I also admired to Omar, the violinist who made the violin cries. The rest of the band worked wonderfully during the concert. The dancers showed professionalism and energy while dancing. Today Monday both my husband and I are going to see them again at the theater of SfCC in Avon Park.

  • Amazing!!!!! we see him everytime he is in Florida

by astounding on 11/9/11Kravis Center - West Palm BeachRating: 5 out of 5

We would not have missed the show for anything. Benise gives 110% each time. Never fails to provide the kind of entertainment that all of our family enjoyed. The show was excellent as usual and my daughter wanted to know if there was another show the next day, because she would have liked to be there again.

  • Benise was smoke and mirrors

by Anonymous on 11/9/11Kravis Center - West Palm BeachRating: 1 out of 5

The dancers, singers and musicians displayed very little talent. The only musician which was noticiable was the percusionist. Benise only had talent in his hair. I think if it was cut off he would not be able to play at all. The show was a huge dissappointment. I was very surprised to see such a low class show brought to the Kravis Center in WPB.

  • Benise was on his game

by kbrwn on 11/2/11Abraham Chavez Theatre - El PasoRating: 4 out of 5

The first time I saw Benise was on the sunsets and spanish guitars cruise. This concert was good and Benise was as spectacular as usual, but I guess I had higher expectations than what I saw. I also missed Karen Briggs accompanying the band on her violin.

  • Benise was OUTSTANDING!!

Enjoyable but not awesome. Very talented people but not a real polished show.

  • Benise - I loved every minute of it.

by Bobbyrod on 10/17/11Abraham Chavez Theatre - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5

I had never seen Benise, but I will not miss his concert when he gets back to El Paso. He puts on a great show and my wife and I are fans of his forever. Highly recommend seeing him and his fantastic group of musicians. Bob

  • Benise-Wow!

by Washerman on 10/17/11Abraham Chavez Theatre - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5

After a recommendation of a friend we saw a couple of DVD's of his previous performances. When we learned he and his troop would be in town we bought tickets, right up front. My wife and I were blown away. Benise did not hog the spotlight, but did have many of his troop, either as individuals or small groups perform, showing us the width and breath of their talents. When he comes back next year we hope to attend.

  • Great Performance

by Anonymous on 10/17/11Abraham Chavez Theatre - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5

took my male cousin from Arizona (Flamenco Dancer) and he totally enjoyed it also. He said this is one of the best performances he has attended.

  • Exceptional team play

by VivaChihuahua2010 on 10/16/11Abraham Chavez Theatre - El PasoRating: 4 out of 5

I knew it was going to be a good show but did not expected that much "fun" watching them play and a matching dancing. I definitely recommend my friends and everyone.

  • by Anonymous on 10/16/11Abraham Chavez Theatre - El PasoRating: 4 out of 5

The music was wonderful and the dancing impressive. At times it was a bit cheesy, but still enjoyable. I especially liked the more intimate moments when the musicians performed without the rest of the entourage.

  • Kind of a snoozer.

by Dang42 on 10/16/11Abraham Chavez Theatre - El PasoRating: 2 out of 5

Good musicians and it was interesting to watch ... for about 30 minutes. It all then becomes repetitive and cheesy. It was OK, but I wouldn't go back. That main guitar guy becomes annoying after a while.
