About

All the world's a stage, and the Spanish guitar is one of its greatest instruments. Benise is bringing his Flamenco-inspired pieces and tango-infused dance numbers to the stage, leaving all who hear him spellbound in his wake. Benise is a world-renowned guitarist who has brought his unique blend of Spanish guitar and world music to stages worldwide since the early 2000s. His 2022 tour, aptly named the "20th Anniversary Tour," showcases the best of Benise throughout the years by virtue of music and dance.

His passion for the guitar has taken him on an incredible journey from the streets of Omaha to busking in Southern California and finally to the world stage. Known as "The Prince of Spanish Guitar," Benise has been wowing audiences worldwide with his sizzling music and spellbinding dance for over two decades, rocking fans across the globe with his sultry blend of Spanish guitar and world rhythms, winning the hearts of millions of fans worldwide.

The result: a mesmerizing feast of sight and sound from which no audience member will ever want to escape. Benise has truly mastered an international style of music having been influenced by nearly every genre possible, with great depth and passion vibrating underneath.

Growing up on a farm in Nebraska, his devotion to rock music was palpable. That success was just a twinkle in Benise's eye before finally picking up flamenco music in 1994. From there, he met violinist Jim Sitterly, guitarists Gilberto Gonzales and Yussi, bassist Mychal Lomas, drummer Carlos Lopez, and percussionist CG Ryche and formed a band (also) called Benise.

Benise's sound is primarily influenced by flamenco music and incorporates elements spanning Brazilian samba, Cuban salsa, Parisian waltz, African drumming, and more. The magic happens by bringing together musicians from different countries to create a unique sound that melds their cultures through music.

A significant turning point in Benise's career came when PBS approached him to create a show for its "Great Performances'' series. He spent time writing and recording what would become "Nights of Fire!" -- which made its broadcast debut on public television stations nationwide in 2006 and subsequently won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Costumes for a Variety or Music Program.

Since its debut, "Nights of Fire!" has drawn in audiences of all types -- whether or not they have any familiarity with flamenco music. Dazzling lights, dancers and aerial performers make you feel like you're experiencing something transcendent rather than just listening to a concert.

Benise's ability to reproduce sounds from around the world makes him a force of nature. His original style has earned him worldwide recognition, while he continues to push the envelope. Don't miss out on this unique spellbinding performance and see Benise live when he comes to a city near you.

  • Cheesy.

by limaryla on 9/13/12Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand OaksRating: 3 out of 5

I thought for sure the cheesy performance was all tongue in cheek, like this guy Benise was playing with and making fun of the whole flowing hair, rock-star stance performances we used to see. But I realized about halfway through the show that not only did this mediocre performer believe his own hype but that the audience did too. I guess not many quality performances and performers make it out to the sleepy town of Thousand Oaks, CA. Maybe they are starved for culture and the arts. Anyway, a couple of the band members were pretty good and the showgirls were great. If you really like classical guitar I highly recommend catching a show of Rodrigo y Gabriela - their abilities will take your breath away. No hair flinging necessary.

  • What talent!

What gifted performers! I first saw these guys play at the Oaks Mall at Christmas time nine or ten years ago. I bought their CDs and have been enjoying their music since. So glad they've hit the big time.

  • Benise was good

by 100FAN on 9/13/12Fred Kavli Theatre-Thousand Oaks Civic Arts - Thousand OaksRating: 4 out of 5

Benise is gifted, special musician. He put on a nice production concert. I have to say that we miss the old Benise we saw in a park in Oxnard not to long ago. We all know he is getting bigger and popular, but we wanted to hear more Benise and not so much of the back ground show. As we all know Benise can light up a stage with just a guitar and himself. Have you ever seen the movie 'Pure country" when a musician looses his roots... I kind of felt that way watching Benise on stage at this concert. This is not a bash on Benise because we all think he is a very talented, gifted musician. We will continue to see him play and wish for one day to see a little more of the old Benise one on one with his fans.. Overall I could never say it was a bad concert, I think if he had a bad concert it would still be the best we ever heard. Regards A Fan

This was a very mediocre show, he is just riding the heels of his last tour "spanish guitar".

  • Benise OMG!

by Lenea on 9/8/12City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic. Can't wait to see the performance again. Everyone that performed was excellent. The excitement on stage was really something. I was so spellbound that I had to be reminded to take pictures instead of sitting there like a deer caught in headlights. :) I first heard about Benise on PBS. The live show was everything I hoped for.

  • Benise spectacular as always

by JuanDouglas on 9/8/12City National Grove of Anaheim - AnaheimRating: 5 out of 5

Beautiful, artistic dancers, Omar Lopez, an energetic violin player with a distincitve sound and style, eye-catching costumes and props, and a great supporting cast of musicians all contribute to Benise's skillfull Flamenco guitar playing. Benise lets his family of musicians and dancers perform to their to their highest potential on stage, giving the audience plenty of action to see and hear. What a a great show. Thanks.

It was a great show ,Benise is a fine great guitar player, who deserves many acolades. We have not heard such music since we were last in Spain. When He came off the stage and into the isles, the crowd went wild and it was electric. I think He could encorporate Peruvian and Adian music into the program. Martha & Rick

Another amazing performance. Was lucky enough to see Benise few years back when he performed at the auditorium in Riverside, then last Fri night at Fox Theatre. After the performance went to Mission Inn for glass of wine and upon leaving Benise was arriving. He gave me a kiss on the cheek. It's been a week, still haven't washed off!

  • Benise and his cast were dazzling!

by PDForever on 5/3/12Fox Performing Arts Center - RIVERSIDERating: 5 out of 5

This was the fifth time I've seen Benise since he first toured in 2003. The shows get better and better and "En Fuego" is simply dazzling. The energy on stage is exhausting...the band members, dancers and Benise himself. To top it off, Benise and some of his cast signed autographs after the show and allowed us to take photos of him. That's rare in this day and age, but that's Benise's first class style.

  • Great new show

by Merna1 on 5/2/12Fox Performing Arts Center - RIVERSIDERating: 5 out of 5

I loved the show. I have always been a big fan of Benise. I first became a fan about 13 to 14 years ago. Used to be able to talk with him, when he played Borders book store and when he would play at the Ventura Harbor. I love his music. He is very caring about his fans, and has a very good memory. I see him about everyone other year and he always remember me. His music is so beautiful
