BEN HOWARD IN CONCERT:

Mercury Prize-nominated English singer-songwriter Ben Howard’s voice, songcraft, and intricate guitar work take the spotlight during his understated yet emotionally powerful live performances. On tour in 2013, Howard drew stellar reviews for his festival  appearances at Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, and the Montreaux Jazz Festival, generating buzz for the 2014 release of his highly-anticipated sophomore album.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

“An absolutely amazing gig. Great atmosphere and spine-tingling performance from Ben Howard.”

“Incredible. I don't think any other word could be used for how amazing Ben Howard is. I had been looking forward to seeing him perform and play guitar for months and he surpassed my expectations. “

“Ben Howard is one of the few artists who is actually better live than on his album. Amazing show!”

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Ben Howard was raised in a musical household where folk music held court. Inspired by artists like Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, and Van Morrison, Ben began playing guitar and writing his own music at an early age, penning tunes in the highly melodic, rootsy style of his folk idols. His 2011 debut LP Every Kingdom  was a huge success both in the UK and the US, yielding the hit singles “Old Pine” and “The Wolves” and earning him two Brit Awards in 2013—British Breakthrough Act and British Solo Male Artist.

    Ben Howard did not disappoint

by JumbleOfLetters on 10/9/12The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

Great show. It was my first time seeing him and I was very pleased Both opening acts were enjoyable and fit well as an opener for Ben. The Fonda is the perfect size for this style of music. Great night overall.

    Mindblowingly Awesome

by angelarose92 on 10/8/12The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

Ben Howard is easily the best performer I've ever seen in concert. I'm a huge fan and know all of his songs, but I was still awestruck by how impressive he is in person. He is so amazingly talented yet humble...I would go see him again 500 times. The Fonda Theater was a really cool venue too.

Absolutely stunning. I'd been waiting for months for this concert, and was not disappointed (except that it was too short!). The Fonda Theatre is a pretty cool venue for this type of show. I don't do well in standing-room only venues, so being able to sit in the balcony was nice. There were a couple of drunk girls who kept trying to worm their way into the booth with the guys who were sitting in front of me, though. Opening act Gill Landry was well received, performing electric folksy "songs about girls," but Marcus Foster was definitely the favourite of the crowd, interacting and joking with some of the audience members and rocking out. There was a really long break between the opening acts and the main act -- I counted at least six songs on the house monitors before the band was ready to go on. Ben Howard is pretty mellow sounding on his recordings, but even with just four musicians on stage, produced a stellar, upbeat, intense show. The crowd was enthusiastic and greeted each song with a wave of applause. Everyone was just so thrilled to be there. I loved how the band tweaked the songs just a little as they played them, whether it was adding another instrumental loop or jamming to the outros or intros. The time flew by and I couldn't believe it when midnight rolled around and the set came to a close. I definitely recommend seeing Ben in concert whenever you have the chance. Also, I <3 India (cellist/percussionist/bassist extraordinaire).

    Ben Howard and Marcus Foster

by Zucksties on 10/8/12The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

These two musicians are by far my favorite artists to listen to at this current moment in time. Without a doubt these two are going to be major commercial successes. I just wish everyone else in the world would realize how talented and awesome these two are sooner, because they are truly missing out and some revolutionary music.

    Ben Howard is brilliant

by JennBHfan on 10/8/12The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

I loved Ben Howard's music before seeing him live, but after seeing him play live, I love him even more. He really pours his heart and soul into his music. And, in my opinion, he sounds even better live than on his recordings. His band is also brilliant and emotive (a drummer who simultaneously plays the bass, and a girl who sings, plays the bass, the cello, and the drums). I loved every minute of this concert and would gladly pay even more to see Ben Howard and his band again.

    Ben Howard's British Invasion

by Lynsi on 10/8/12The Fonda Theatre - Hollywood

Ben Howard was awesome. His openers Gil Landry and Mary's Foster were great; Marcus was definitely one of the highlights of the show. He set the stage (pun intended) for Ben. I do wish that the Marcus Foster and Ben Howard would have talked more. But overall it was great. Worth the 4 hour stand with floor seats or sure!

    Incredible performance =)

by MyLittlePony on 10/1/12Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Excellent live performer, super talented musician! Venue was a bit tight but I loved being right next the the stage. Sound quality was good, but not superior. Had a few technical issues (feedback, loss of mic sound). In addition to Ben, the supporting band was amazing, so much emotion and energy throughout. Cannot wait to go see him again!!

Ben Howard was awesome. PA system sucked.

by JPSJR on 9/26/12Paradise Rock Club - Boston

Please update the sound system. Or maybe it was the sound engineer. But we moved around the room, upstairs and down. The vocals and instruments were muffled and toned down way too far. Otherwise, great show.

Great show! The only downside was that I wish he could have played longer as I felt as though he didn't perform as many songs as I had expected and had experienced from similar artists. Great venue and great crowd!

2nd time I've seen Ben Howard. Looking forward to the third. His music has the effect of waves rolling you along, gentle crashing, heavy crashing, then rolling along again. Great performer. Wonderful band. Love to see them all again.

    quality!

by blevans on 9/24/12Paradise Rock Club - Boston

what a guy! he talks to the audience in his beautiful accent, his guitar skills are fantastic. he played some songs that aren't out yet and he has me so excited for the next album. with a few songs he added some twists to the ends of them--almost made it rock concert-like, and got the crowd really pumped up. He sings soulfully, the whole band has fantastic harmonies and drum parts. One thing I didn't enjoy was a 45min wait in between the opening artist and Ben, but perhaps that was the venue's fault, not the band's.

I'd go to see Ben Howard every single day if it were made a possibility to me. Absolutely incredible! Is your rating system only limited to 5 stars? This show warrants twice that amount!

The BEST concert you will ever go to

by MayLane on 9/24/12Paradise Rock Club - Boston

A friend brought me to see Ben Howard in Paris in May 2012 before I had listened to any of his music, and I fell in love. Seeing him a second time at the Paradise Rock Club was nothing short of amazing, only this time I knew his music so well. He is so talented and brings such honesty to his music. And it never feels like they're putting on an act on stage- they're just having fun. It was also such an intimate setting, being so close to the stage, and with him being so close to us, it felt like a conversation.
