4 of the best musicians I have ever seen together

by mrdominick on 5/3/10The Ritz Ybor - Ybor City

Worth the wait (they started at 10:20) after the opening band who were pretty good too. I have been to quite a few shows over my many years and this had to be one of the very best ever. The amount of talent each member of the band has was amazing. They played a wide genre of music from slow to fast with everything in between. These 4 guys were a very tight and well oiled machine. Very glad my wife and I went to the show.

    AMAZING..

by HYPESKI on 5/3/10Florida Theatre Jacksonville - Jacksonville

The whole concert was great. Alberta Cross opened for Ben and had a good show. Ben and the R7 put on a 3 and a half our set. Vibed with the crowd and was respectful and humble to his talent.

    Excellent

by rammerhead on 5/3/10The Ritz Ybor - Ybor City

First Ben Harper show and it was excellent. Nice mix of songs, excellent sound and the whole band (not just Ben) hit it out of the park. Great show, highly recommended.

Good show but a little ticked off...

by cjcchris on 5/3/10Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

Guster was great (am a big fan) and we also enjoyed Ben Harper and the crowd...first time seeing him. Had purchased seats under the cover and really wanted to see Guster up close but security wouldn't let us go down to the front to the standing area...but for Ben Harper they let everyone down front...would have loved to take my friends down front for Guster but box office wanted an additional 90 bucks for that! To stand....

    Energy was down...

by Anonymous on 5/3/10The Ritz Ybor - Ybor City

I love Ben Harper, but the concernt seemed lack energy at times. When the crowd was supposed to cheer they did loudly, but there was never that moment that brought the crescendo. This is the second concert that I have seen at the ritz that i have been disappointed by so I think it may be partly the venue that governs this lack of intensity. just my 2 cents.

    Ridiculous

by OneLuv324 on 5/3/10The Ritz Ybor - Ybor City

This show was incredible. About half of the songs were older and covers, which is so sick considering they just released a new album. They were loving the crowd and feeding off of us, pushing them to continue playing. Although I just started listening to Relentless7, I would recommend the show to anyone who appreciates an awesome live show and anyone who loves to watch Ben perform. Overall, it was one of Ben's best performances I've seen, and the band rocked.

    Relentless Ben

by militabit on 5/3/10The Ritz Ybor - Ybor City

There is no doubt that Ben Harper is an extremely talented singer, songwriter, and guitar player! His concerts are never short of that and the May 1st show was no exception. However, what was missed was the Ben Harper classics, which often include the soulful blues, gospel, jazz, and funky melodies. Instead, what the crowd got was hard rock and roll played with lots of guitar! The Innocent Criminals were surely missed, along with the djembe drum and deep bass tones. The socio-political side of Ben was also not present, but more of the wild "Hendrix" side of Ben! All- in- all, Ben Harper and Relentless 7 are sure to please and his new music proves that he can play many styles of music and just be relentless!

    Amazing Show

by awk128 on 5/3/10The Ritz Ybor - Ybor City

I have been to a bunch of different concerts in my life - and this one was one to remember. In a smaller venue with a well selected set list - Ben Harper and R7 kept the crowd into it for the entire show!

The Ben Harper show something to be talked about!

by Baum2011 on 5/3/10The Ritz Ybor - Ybor City

Ben Harper was the most energetic performer I have seen in a long time. The love for his music and the sheer excitement he showed on stage was invigorating. I will do whatever is possible to see him play again!

    Spiritual

by slimiller on 5/3/10The Ritz Ybor - Ybor City

What a rare gem Mr. Harper is. Second time I've seen him, and again I was just blown away. His versatility and passion are tough to match. He sets the bar really high. Don't miss an opportunity to see him.

    Holy hell....the best!

by lissabelle23 on 5/2/10House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

The last time I saw Ben Harper was 11 years ago and as amazing as I remember him to be I'll just multiply it by 20! The whole show was just amazing song after song and I can't believe how long they rocked! The show didn't get out until almost 1 am. His concerts always have a very private feel to them, almost like we get to sit in with them in a jam session. This concert DEFINITELY did not disappoint.

    Ben Harper was incredible

by Fuente on 5/2/10The Ritz Ybor - Ybor City

Show was on the heavy side although I enjoy this live. I expected a little crisper sound from monitors, a little bottom heavy.

    Good performance, but bad playlist

by SOHO7301 on 5/2/10The Ritz Ybor - Ybor City

Ben put on a good show but did not play enough of his most popular tunes. He committed what I think is a entertainer's faux pas: he played unfamiliar songs off a new album to promote the new album, but leaving fans without the great songs they paid and came to see him perform.

    Harper was worth the wait

by UTKay10 on 5/2/10The Ritz Ybor - Ybor City

Although there was over a 30 minute wait between the opener and Ben, it was definitely worth the wait. He's probably one of the most passionate performers I've ever seen live.

    amazing

by illbewhittaker on 5/2/10The Ritz Ybor - Ybor City

As always Ben Harper brings his amazing guitar skills and is in no hurry to leave the stage. Harper was a three hour tour de force with a great mix of hard screaching slide guitar and mellow acoustic favorites to bring the crowd back down to sea level. With an encore performance mixing in an amazing rendition of Led Zeppelins Heartbreak that shook the entire building. Ben Harper is not to be missed or underestimated live. If only his albums sounded this good he would be one of the greatest of our generation.

    Ben Harper too new

by ritapope on 5/2/10The Ritz Ybor - Ybor City

My favorite Ben Harper is the older albums (Cruel World). I absolutely LOVE Ben Harper and have been a HUGE fan for over 15 years. This show was 99% all of his new stuff, which sounds good, but I was really hoping for a mix of everything, especially songs like "Waiting on an Angel" and "Forever". He is such an unbelievable performer and loved seeing him Live, but it was way too much of the new album, and not enough mix of everything else:(
