About

He is the host of the highly successful shows "Cash Cab" and "Cash Cab: After Dark" on the Discovery Channel.  He was singled out by publications such as Entertainment Weekly, who put Ben on their MUST LIST in 2006, People magazine who said "All Hail Cash Cab," and the New York Post. As a stand-up he has also been profiled in publications such as the New York Times, Maxim, the Associated Press and other reputable publications as well. In fact, "Cash Cab"    has gained such a following that he received a Daytime Emmy nomination last year for "Outstanding Game Show Host."

As far back as Ben can remember, he was always delivering something. Whether it was flowers, sandwiches, pizza or people, he had over 68 odd jobs prior to and during his stint as an up and coming stand up comic. He recalls driving passengers in his limo, dropping them off, and then hitting the comedy clubs before coming back to pick them up and take them home. In fact, some of his passengers were so enamored with him that they even came to watch him perform! So, when Ben was offered the job as the host of "Cash Cab," driving was a no brainer. And when he was told that he had to successfully pass real taxi school to become a licensed cab driver in New York City to take the job, Ben passed with flying colors.

Ben got his unlikely start as a stand-up comedian when he was mistaken for a comic in the green room of The Comedy Store in Los Angeles where he was hired to answer the phones. The booker seeing that the other comics in the room could not get enough of Ben's humor booked him on the spot. After a few years of performing in Los Angeles,                      Ben moved back to New York and for two years consistently went to open-mic nights to hone his craft and he hasn't stopped making people laugh since. Now with over 10 years under his belt as a successful stand-up comedian, Ben continues to perform all over New York City and has achieved international acclaim for both the show "Cash Cab" and performing stand-up comedy all over the world.

He has appeared at the Aspen Comedy Arts Festival in 2002 and again in 2004 while promoting the movie "Bad Meat." He has performed at the Edinburgh Festival in 2000 and again in 2004 as well as the Masters show at the Montreal Just for Laughs festival in 2005. Ben was also a "Star Search" semi-finalist in 2003 and was an audience favorite where 16.2 million people saw him perform. Ben has also guest starred on numerous television comedies and dramas such as: ABC's           "The Knights of Prosperity" & "Hope & Faith",  NBC's "Law and Order SVU," and Fox's "Mad TV," as well as a recurring role on "One Life To Live."  His upcoming special "YouSpoof 2.0" will debut on the Discovery Channel later in 2008.

Some television highlights of Ben's career include his own Comedy Central Presents Special, and performances and interviews on shows such as: "The Tonight show w/Jay Leno," the "Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn," "Last Call with Carson Daly", "Comedy Central's Premium Blend," "The World Stands Up," and "Tough Crowd w/Colin Quinn." Film roles include a featured role in "Spiderman 2," and the independent comedies; "Bad Meat," "Don't Shoot The Pharmacist" "They're Made Out of Meat " , "Meet Me at Rays," (also co-wrote/directed).

In addition to being the host of "Cash Cab," Ben is also a trained tri-athlete, preparing for a ½ Iron Man competition in October of 2008. This triathlon includes a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike trek and a 13.1 mile run.

Ben Bailey is from New Jersey.

Ben Bailey was not as funny as expected

by cashcabfan on 2/1/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I am a fan of Cash Cab and have often found Ben Bailey funny on the show. During his stand up performance, I found that he was very slow to tell his joke and often took each joke too far, so that it was no longer funny after the first punch line (he often tried for 2 or 3 punch lines with each joke). Disappointingly, the opener was much funnier than the feature performer. He also seemed bitter towards fans of Cash Cab and complained about people recognizing him on the street - and was very angry when members of the audience shouted out. I do not regret attending the show, but would not recommend seeing him live.

Ben Bailey is the funniest man alive

    by Leanneelizabeth87 on 1/31/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

This was my first comedy show and Ben Bailey did not disappoint! His opening act Stephen Donnolly(?) was hilarious, but my face hurt after Ben Bailey from smiling so much. The only bad thing was that the audience was calling out and interrupting Ben Bailey during his bit and some people got into a fight. He played it off really well, making hilarious jokes from it, but he was definitely pissed by the end.

    Ben Bailey is the Best!

by Ivegonefishing on 1/31/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I admit I had only seen Cash Cab a few times and really didn't know who Ben Bailey was. Wow, was I blown away by his show!!!! I took my College age son and his roommate to Ben's Boston show at the Wilbur Theater. His comedy and storytelling ability is second to none, and man-can he ad-lib! I see a fair amount of comedy and fun most funny and I chuckle alot. But there was a point in Ben's show where I was literally wiping tears from my eyes. If you like comedy and a great night out, you cant go wrong seeing Ben Bailey!!!

    Ben was no hack!

by Stubbyohearn on 1/31/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

We arrived early(about 45 min. before the show). I recommend this because the waitresses get overwhelmed at showtime. The show was great. I hadn't seen Ben other than cash cab and was prepared to be disappointed. He was hilarious in spite of being interrupted by screaming nitwits and a full blown cat fight in the audience. We would go see him again. Reviews of other shows mentioned how tight the seats were and they were accurate. Think twice if you're claustrophobic.

My face hurt from laughing so hard. He also did well dealing with unruly audience jerks.

    Ben Bailey is hysterical!

    by bostoncomedyfan44 on 1/31/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

If you ever have a chance to see Ben Bailey - GO! He is one of the smartest, funniest comedians that I have seen. He had the whole place laughing hysterically and then of course thinking about the jokes the next day! Timing, stage presence and everything was excellent.

    Ben Bailey is hilarious!

by Offy on 1/31/11Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Although most people only know Ben Bailey from his job as the host of the TV Game Show Cash Cab, he's been doing stand up for a lot longer than he's driven a taxi cab. Bailey has a great comedic style that makes great use of timing and a unique delivery.

    Ben Baily was FANTASTIC

by DMShibley on 1/30/11Hu Ke Lau - Chicopee

The comedy show was SUPER. Added bonus - we did not know that another comedian was on stage first - Steve Donovan from Worcester...he was really funny. Ben Bailey was FANTASTIC. Would go see him again...like the improv! Did not know the venue, HuKeLau had a $10. per person minimum. We had dinner elsewhere, but had coffee, dessert there.

    Same Old Act

by greeneysgirl on 1/30/11Hu Ke Lau - Chicopee

It was a nearly identical act to what he's been doing for the past three years. He definitely needs to come up with a bunch if new material. We were pretty disappointed. Also the venue didn't honor assigned seat tickets, they just sat people first come first serve. We were supposed to be a few seats from the stage, according to our seat number purchased on TicketMaster, but we were seated towards the back. Overall the night was a let-down.
