Bell Biv DeVoe on Tour
Since their days as members of the groundbreaking boy band New Edition, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe have known how to command an audience with soulful harmonies and fierce moves. As Bell Biv DeVoe, the trio specializes in what they call "hip-hop, smoothed out on the R&B tip with a pop feel (appeal) to it," and they bring that concept to the stage during their high-energy shows.
Bell Biv DeVoe in Concert
In the '80s, childhood friends Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe exploded out of Roxbury, Massachusetts, as part of New Edition, the boy band that laid down the template for later acts like New Kids on the Block, the Backstreet Boys and One Direction. When New Edition went on hiatus in 1990, new jack swing pioneers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who had worked with the group on hits like "If It Isn't Love," encouraged the three to splinter off and form their own act. Bell Biv DeVoe's first album, 1990's slick yet hard-edged Poison, was a smash, spawning videos that ruled MTV and singles that topped the United States' R&B charts. In 1993 they released their second album, Hootie Mack, which featured the Boogie Down Productions–sampling "Above the Rim" and the sultry slow jam "Something in Your Eyes." The trio took a break from releasing music until 2001, when they released BBD, which leaned into West Coast hip-hop influences while still showcasing the group's sensitive side on songs like "I Ain't Going Nowhere." In the years that followed, Bell, Bivins and DeVoe toured as part of New Edition's reunion tours, performing Bell Biv DeVoe sets as part of the show. 2017's Three Stripes, BBD's fourth album, showed off the trio's grown and sexy side as well as its appreciation of modern R&B trends.
My wife absolutely loved the Bel Biv Devoe and 98 degrees show at Foxwood. Overall, a great experience.
BBD dropped straight fire from start to finish, a little over an hour. The crew sang hit after hit after hit after hit. Very impressive that the BBD catalog still holds its weight after almost 40 years. Best show I’ve been to in years. Their opening act was a very well sung cover band. They sang all the TRL hits from the late 90s/2000s. They sang songs from all the hit makers of that era, NSync, The Backstreet Boys and Brittany Spears. They even mixed in some Whitney Houston and Destiny’s Child. The openers even sang 2-3 of their own songs, you may have heard of them, 98Degrees. This was in a word, sad. If you can see BBD, I say Just Do It!! They do not disappoint.
Had a great time at show, good to hear the songs from my past. Lots of great songs and loved the dancing.
This was a great concert, it completely exceeded my expectations.
Phenomenal show. The champagne toast with Bell Biv DeVoe was awesome. The fellas are the most kind and gracious artists when it comes to their fans. I wish BBD would have been onstage a little bit longer and sang some of the album hits that we love. It was a Great show and I can’t wait until the next one.
The show was so exciting that I think it finished too soon. The participation and interaction was like no other, but it just finished too soon.
Very good show! Definitely worth every penny!!!! I stood up the whole show and had a Ball!!!
I can't say enough how much I enjoyed myself. I was on my feet the whole time!! I loved it!!! 🔥🔥🔥💯🎯💯
Love it had a amazing time hope they could come back again
The performances were good even though they started about 30 minutes late. Everything was overpriced though, the tickets, the parking and the feed and drinks. The seating is too compact and too close together which made it very uncomfortable especially if you have a larger person seated next to you. People in front of you constantly stood up, so you have to stand up too to be able to see. Probably the last concert Inwill attend.
The concert was a perfect way to continue my 60th birthday countdown. From the DJ to the lineup to the ushers assisting everything was perfect. Concert was a BLAST
I was so excited to finally have floor seats as this has always been a big goal for me! None of the acts disappointed I was very happy to hear Tyrese and Tank live they sounded perfect! Show started at 830 which gave people time to get drinks, food and find their seats. Overall the crowd was amazing and the people in my section were a really fun time! I will definitely buy floor seats again at the AAC in the future!
