Bell Biv DeVoe on Tour
Since their days as members of the groundbreaking boy band New Edition, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe have known how to command an audience with soulful harmonies and fierce moves. As Bell Biv DeVoe, the trio specializes in what they call "hip-hop, smoothed out on the R&B tip with a pop feel (appeal) to it," and they bring that concept to the stage during their high-energy shows.
Bell Biv DeVoe in Concert
In the '80s, childhood friends Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe exploded out of Roxbury, Massachusetts, as part of New Edition, the boy band that laid down the template for later acts like New Kids on the Block, the Backstreet Boys and One Direction. When New Edition went on hiatus in 1990, new jack swing pioneers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who had worked with the group on hits like "If It Isn't Love," encouraged the three to splinter off and form their own act. Bell Biv DeVoe's first album, 1990's slick yet hard-edged Poison, was a smash, spawning videos that ruled MTV and singles that topped the United States' R&B charts. In 1993 they released their second album, Hootie Mack, which featured the Boogie Down Productions–sampling "Above the Rim" and the sultry slow jam "Something in Your Eyes." The trio took a break from releasing music until 2001, when they released BBD, which leaned into West Coast hip-hop influences while still showcasing the group's sensitive side on songs like "I Ain't Going Nowhere." In the years that followed, Bell, Bivins and DeVoe toured as part of New Edition's reunion tours, performing Bell Biv DeVoe sets as part of the show. 2017's Three Stripes, BBD's fourth album, showed off the trio's grown and sexy side as well as its appreciation of modern R&B trends.

The Wintrust needs to update/improve their sound system! Live music did not sound great! The performance was good but it should have been better. They only performed for about 10 minutes! I really wanted/needed MORE!!! Tank sang for 30 minutes and he wasn’t the closer/ headliner. It was a good concert but it had the potential to be a great one!
I think the lineup could've been better selected. The order of performers should be switched. Ginuwine should have been 1st then Tank,an intermission, Silk then BBD . Other than that is was good.
It was advertised that TGT would be there. Tyrese was not there (i.e., no TGT). Tank's solo performance should have gone before Ginuwine's because he didn't bring the energy needed for BBD to follow. BBD's set was good, but too loud. Transitions between artists, sound quality, and lighting were not done well.
The sound system at the Wintrust arena is poor. However the acts were good.
This was one of the best shows ever. I am stuck on 90s R&B music!!!! The 90s were the best times of my life.
Worst experience and concert I’ve ever been to. They only performed like 7 songs and only two songs were new edition songs. Tank performed almost an hour and wasn’t the headliner. Tank should not have performed so long. I thought Tyrese was going to be there but he wasn’t.
Bell Biv Devoe was cut short but was the highlight of the night! I need a redo without Tank because he took up all the time ugh.
This was a "how can we save money"concert. The headliner Bel Biv Devoe gave their typical consistent performance but they cheated us by not having a live band. They brought a drummer who was very good and DJ Shakim who is the New Edition DJ. Basically, they played off of a track. I am old school and I appreciate a live band with the headliner. Tank and Ginuine sang off tracks. Nothing special and you won't believe this... Tank took his shirt off. Silk who was the opening act stole the show with their energy and amazing vocals. They sang off of a track also but that can be expected for the opening act, not the entire lineup. Silk deserves their own show with a nice band. Maybe at a smaller venue like a City Winery. If you are considering this show, save your money. It was like sitting at home listening to your favorite music source. Oh and the floor seats at Wintrust Arena were absolutely brutal. We were squeezed in like Sardines. Disappointing for $200+ seats to squeeze in next to each other. The drinks were good and we enjoyed the popcorn. There, I ended this review on a positive note.
They definitely did an amazing job and also the background dancers
I was very disappointed in BBD performance they should have done more songs for them to be the headliner of the concert everyone else song more songs then them I was so disappointed 🥲🥲
Silk and Ginuwine, I can’t wait to see yall again. Tank and BBD it was great to see yall perform. Very entertaining. Silk really got to me, I’ve been listening to them for the past 3 days since the concert. Ginuwine I got out my seat for him. He came into the audience. Tank put on a show, very classy. BBD, amazing. Ricky Bell singing is top tier!!
The show itself was good but I expected more from Bell Biv Devoe. Their segment was extremely short for them to be the headliner. Tank was out on stage too long. My entire purpose of purchasing these tickets was to see them. Very disappointed.
Bell Biv Devoe sung Poison and 3 songs from when they were with New Edition…they didn’t sing the four songs in their entirety either. They looked good, sounded good and danced good but they were the high liner so they should have performed longer. It really was the Tank show and no offense but I didn’t come to see him nor did I really want to see him take off his shirt. Ginuwine’s backup singers sung better than he did. Silk was ok. I’m glad I didn’t pay a lot for the tickets because this was not a good concert…it was bad!
The openers for the show were AMAZING! Silk, Tank, the tribute to Reese from 3Piece… had us out our seat and singing along but Ginuwine barely sang and was out of breath. Tank sang so many new songs the crowd didn’t even know and Bel Biv Divoe did the same…we left early. Plus as a pregnant couple, sitting in a same venue surrounded by smoke and weed was agonizing. The United Center would NEVER!
Great Friday night outing ,awesome show they still try to get it in age has set in guys it’s ok
The concert was everything I expected and more! The energy in the room was amazing. I will definitely see them again!!!
I visit in Chicago for my birthday. I went to the BBD concert and meet n greet! I had the best time! BBD delivered! Thanks so much to these handsome and kind gentleman! ❤️❤️❤️
Love BBD #Ne4lyfe. Everyone else was good and it was a bonus to see. I was interested in seeing them and excited about seeing New Edition in Las Vegas next year. Wintrust needs a better sound system the feedback and bad mics made some parts uncomfortable. Remove the dj from the stage we paid good money for the seats to have to be blocked by the guest dj standing on the stage
I would not recommend this show or any of these artists beside BBD. It appeared that the artist(s) were all LIP SINGING and their stage performance was poor!
