About

Bell Biv DeVoe on Tour

Since their days as members of the groundbreaking boy band New Edition, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe have known how to command an audience with soulful harmonies and fierce moves. As Bell Biv DeVoe, the trio specializes in what they call "hip-hop, smoothed out on the R&B tip with a pop feel (appeal) to it," and they bring that concept to the stage during their high-energy shows.

Bell Biv DeVoe in Concert

In the '80s, childhood friends Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe exploded out of Roxbury, Massachusetts, as part of New Edition, the boy band that laid down the template for later acts like New Kids on the Block, the Backstreet Boys and One Direction. When New Edition went on hiatus in 1990, new jack swing pioneers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who had worked with the group on hits like "If It Isn't Love," encouraged the three to splinter off and form their own act. Bell Biv DeVoe's first album, 1990's slick yet hard-edged Poison, was a smash, spawning videos that ruled MTV and singles that topped the United States' R&B charts. In 1993 they released their second album, Hootie Mack, which featured the Boogie Down Productions–sampling "Above the Rim" and the sultry slow jam "Something in Your Eyes." The trio took a break from releasing music until 2001, when they released BBD, which leaned into West Coast hip-hop influences while still showcasing the group's sensitive side on songs like "I Ain't Going Nowhere." In the years that followed, Bell, Bivins and DeVoe toured as part of New Edition's reunion tours, performing Bell Biv DeVoe sets as part of the show. 2017's Three Stripes, BBD's fourth album, showed off the trio's grown and sexy side as well as its appreciation of modern R&B trends.

  • A huge disappointment

by DS on 3/16/25Rating: 1 out of 5

I saw Bell Biv DeVoe at the Muckleshoot casino in December. They played maybe seven songs and then left the stage. They could’ve played more New Edition stuff. They did not do it with Ricky Bell there. The seating was horrible. The concert was horrible and after seeing New Edition in Vegas twice in the last year, I was so sorely disappointed do not go see this group by themselves.

  • VERY DISAPPOINTING

by Shari on 12/21/24Muckleshoot Casino Events Center - AuburnRating: 2 out of 5

While the content of what was performed was cool, some of the songs they cut short and some songs weren't performed at all....the actual concert, if you can call it that, was less than. Supposed to start at 8p...BBD did not come on stage until about 8:35p and they were done at 9:20p. I could not believe it. I bought these tix 3 months in advance for less than an hour show. SMH. They didn't even sell merch....which I would have purchased....They said it was their last show of the year...seems like they would have put a little more into it, but maybe father time has caught up to them. I still love me some Ronnie Devoe though!!!

I had a great time. Got up on the stage & had a blast dancing around.

You know for a Monday they could have put on a way better and longer show! I was very disappointed! I will wait until they go to a arena where I know they out way more effort into the show!

I was really disappointed for the amount of money spent for my birthday to see BBD and they were only on stage for 50 mins

  • The Ultimate Professionals

These gentlemen are the ultimate professionals that never disappoint. They hit the stage on time and it was non stop energy from that moment. The vocalist of the group, @mrrickybell, has taken very good care of his instrument. After 30+ years with this group, he sounds better than the records. The dancers are electrifying and make you want get up and groove throughout the performance. If you have not seen a BBD show, you are truly missing out.

What an evening of fun! Brought back so many memories of the NE Crew Johnny, Ronnie, Ralph, Ricky, Mike and Bobby toooooooooooo! These guys are performers and entertainers! Wished the show was longer but I was still pleased!

  • Birthday gift

Bell Biv Devoe was amazing. They lived up to the hype. They were amazing!! The venue on the other hand was horrible. I’ve seen talent shows on bigger stages. As much money as the muckleshhot has, they can actually have a real venue.

  • Very short show, the performance was under an hour.

by Nelly on 12/19/24Muckleshoot Casino Events Center - AuburnRating: 2 out of 5

The venue was set up as a conference hall. The stage should have been elevated or they should have provided screens for us in the back to see. With everyone standing, ones with height challenges could not see the whole performance.. They started late and finished early 😞

  • Listen!!!!💛💛💛💛💛

by Mary Weaver on 12/14/24Rating: 5 out of 5

Reading these comments and lets be clear.. The line up should be flipped to where it’s Genuwine, Tank, Silk, BBD. Other than that it was a great show as always.
