Good concert, but she seemed somewhat distracted, and her voice not as strong as I had heard on recorded clips

A program of excellence with polished, seasoned, artists

by UB on 11/19/19Royce Hall - UCLA - Los Angeles

A program of beautiful music by exceptional artists of mostly Jobim masterpieces that deserves more local live events of Bossa Nova concerts.

    Great voice and personality!

by BebelFanAlways on 7/29/18The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I have enjoyed Bebel's music for over 15 years. I have seen her perform at the Carlu, the Exhibition and now at the Danforth Music Hall. She has a voice that truly touches my heart. I am never disappointed but found she encouraged the audience to sing for her much more than I would have preferred at this last performance. I want to hear Bebel sing and not the inebriated loud ladies sitting behind me.

    Bebel is so amazing!

by OhLobo on 7/27/18The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

Bebel was incredible. Engaging with the audience, fun in her interactions, and an absolute joy to listen to sing. I only wish the show had lasted a bit longer. Money well spent!

    Really enjoyed the show!!

by kwdemo on 3/2/18Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

would have loved to see Bebel with a full band. The show was just her and a guitar player, which made it more sparse musically. It was extremely entertaining because she is a true professional, who kept the audience engaged with jokes and stories and general banter. What a wonderful voice she has!! I think some of the audience was upset because she spoke in Portugese for a good part of the time, but hey she's Brazilian!! I am a gringo and didn't understand a lot of what she was saying, but I thought it just made the show even more authentic. Would go see her show again anytime, would enjoy it even more with more musicians on stage.

    Just ok

by GoMimi5 on 2/19/18Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Bebel seemed to be winging it. She needs a full band instead of just one guitar to make it more interesting. I've seen better artists locally for free.

Bebel is timeless, with perfect pitch!

by LaCastanza on 2/19/18Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Bebel is a natural! She's been performing most of her life and can turn a challenging show around instantly. This show was the first of the tour and her scheduled guitarist could not be there. The stand in guitarist arrived on only 4 hours before the show, but they were great together without any issues. There were a couple technical glitches, but again, Bebel has a great sense of humor and the performance was outstanding.

    Disaster!

by Anonymous on 2/16/18Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Very disappointing performance by Bebel Gilberto. She did not live up to her well known family tradition of fine Brazilian musicians and performers. The show lacked preparation, it was very amateur, poor lighting, last minute guitarist joined her and it was very obvious! Her physical appearance was careless, like she just stumbled off a plane and came in to sing! She spoke in Portuguese for a long while, making the incorrect assumption everyone in the theater spoke her native language, until members of the audience voiced "English Please!" Poor performance from a well known established artist than came in just to get her pay & go! Never again Bebel!

Despite some minor technical difficulties the show was amazing. Bebel's beautiful voice and charismatic personality won everyone over. It was an amazing night

    Unprofessional

by 220bB on 2/16/18Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Bebel Gilberto is a talented performer who was in a difficult situation. She explained at the beginning of the concert that her regular guitarist had been refused admittance to the country and she had secured a last minute replacement who had flown in from LA. He was great but Bebel was not. Apparently, these events threw her for a loop and resulted in an unprofessional, sloppy, hard to watch performance. She pulled down the mike stand knocking all of her guitarist’s music on the floor. She asked the audience to sing along to songs in Portuguese. She laid down on the stage and lazily waved the microphone over her head. She repeated phrases over and over. She may have been drunk. She drank red wine on stage. At one point, she began to speak only in Portuguese because she was in Ft. Lauderdale. She asked if Americans were upset because she was speaking in Portuguese. The guy next to us screamed YES! People were walking out in droves. When Bebel actually focused on her music, her talent and skill were apparent. Unfortunately, that occurred infrequently during the performance. Great venue and an amazingly calm supporting musician, but the show was a train wreck.

Bebel was not what I was expecting

by Nicknacknew on 2/16/18Amaturo Theater at Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

I was disappointed. She did not seem very prepared and I felt as though she realized it. I sensed that she forgot lyrics but scatter her way through some of the songs. Her guitarist was competent but very boring and did not transmit either energy or excitement to the audience. I was hoping for much more. I attended the last New York concert by Jobim and will never ever forget his charisma and joy as he played his music because he loved it, not because he had to.

    Disappointed

by cmchicago on 6/21/16Space - Evanston

Ms. Gilberto has very good vocal control and sounded pretty good at her Chicago appearance. But was not impressed. She was an hour late and only played for 61 minutes. Supposedly a flight delay, but what professional would cut the schedule so close? Thought it was a bit odd that she self-promoted her "grammy-nominated" song from the stage... just seemed a bit tacky. Would have been better if someone else tooted her horn. She liked to get the audience involved and said several times how she does it all for the audience, though rather briefly. Just good to know prior to buying tickets.

Will never see her in concert again! Not worth it!

by NotAnotherRyGuyinBoaron on 2/19/16Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Bebel Gilbert has the worst attitide I have seen in a performer. She acts like a big dive but lacks the resume to back that up. Not really sure ehat inflates her ego because she is mediocre at best. She dies have a nice voice but her performance is stiff and she messes up on the lyrics of song. Her overall demeanor os strandoffish and she treats the audience as if they are bothering her and we get that feeling that her being there and performing is a big inconvience to her. Never I have felt that uncomfortable in a concert. She said the most ridiculous and absurd things which reassured my feelings that she is a total narcissit who doesnt care at all about the audience and coukdnt care less about whether or not you have a good experience. Dont waste a minute of a day or a dime of your money supporting this woman, she is bot worth it.

Bebel only played for one hour and during the concert she shushed the audience many times, she complained about the sound and the guitarist. I found her to be a little obnoxious. I was very disappointment with her performance giving her background.

Concert was awful. She just brought a gitarist and NO BAND! She was rude to the crowd as well. She was awesome last year. Not this time though. The venue was strange last year they had seats. This year we had to stand. All in all in was a disappointment.

    Not her best effort

by G0estoeleven on 2/19/16Brighton Music Hall - Boston

I've seen Bebel before, and this concert was not as good. She spent far too much time complaining about the audience talking and for people filming her. When people made requests, she said that her agent wouldn't let her deviate from her set list. On one song, she completely bungled the lyrics. I had high expectations but left very disappointed.

    Disappointed e triste

by Diplogeek on 2/18/16State Theater - Falls Church

I was so excited when I learned that Bebel Gilberto was coming to town. I have bought or listened to all her albums, have even made my 16 year old son into a fan of her father and her. I speak Portuguese well and can understand all the lyrics and think she has a beautiful voice, which made me even sadder when I didn't get to hear that much of it. She was supposed to go on at 9, went on a bit later than that, then wasn't happy with the sound on the monitors and did a couple of half songs while she got that straight, and then tried to engage with the audience in a sort of choppy way, took requests, and then wrapped it up in a hour. She was accompanied by one guitarist, who looked a little perplexed by the erratic nature of her performance, and the fact that he had no perceptible set list. Somewhere in there were a couple of her best songs, and when she sang a whole song it was great. I usually see bigger acts in big venues with well-planned set lists that provide a mix of old and new stuff, leading to a strong climax and then an encore or two. This "set" (not an actual concert) meandered around, and then wrapped up quickly to give her time for the "meet and greet" in the incredibly drafty lobby of the theater (it was about 20 degrees outside) to get a CD signed. Who listens to CDs? It would have great to meet her but I had enough so we just scurried for the car.

No Band - Acoustic Set - Brief Show

by Nordeste on 2/15/16Perelman Theatre at the Kimmel Center - Phila

Bebel Gilberto did a lackluster 60 minute acoustic set at the Kimmel Center on Feb. 14, accompanied only by a guitar player. Many artists will disclose that their tour or event is acoustic when the tour is promoted. This shows consideration and respect for the people who spend their money and time to support the artist, but might not want to see an acoustic set. Their was no full disclosure in this case. Very disappointing. Given the steep ticket prices and with no band expenses, Bebel must have made quite a killing for her 60 minutes. While the audience was courteous with their applause, I also heard grumbling about the lack of a band and the brevity of the show. If you're expecting a generous set list and a full band to bring the sound of Bebel's music to life during this tour, you'll be sorely disappointed.
