Beauty and the Beast better than t sounds

by Lookkin on 10/24/10ASU Gammage - Tempe

I thought the only that could have been better about beauty & the Beast was the sound. Some of the dialog was muffled. The dancing, the singing, the humor, the stage changes, EVERYTHING ELSE WAS AWESOME!!!!!

    Beauty and the Beast--Gammage

by Anonymous on 10/23/10ASU Gammage - Tempe

It was the first time I've seen Beauty and the Beast on stage, and absolutely loved it. The story followed the movie almost perfectly, with a few cute additions to lengthen the story. I was pleasantly surprised by how funny it actually was, with some of the humor directed to adults. Singing and acting both were great, and they were even a few moments of [very] loose-audience interaction. The only issue I had was that at times it was hard to hear secondary characters talking/singing over the orchestra. However overall it was fantastic and will definitely see it again!

Beauty and the Beast was spectacular!

    by momof4yearoldgirl on 10/23/10ASU Gammage - Tempe

Just a wonderful experience! Belle sounded beautiful and just like the movie! Everyone really embodied the essence of their character, and there was good humor that even my 4 year old understood and laughed! She really enjoyed it and didn't want it to be over!

This was my third time seeing Beauty and the Beast. I so much loved the costumes, the fabulous set and the amazing vocals of the actors.

    Disappointing

by petmom on 10/23/10ASU Gammage - Tempe

I looked forward to Beauty and the Beast but it was a very disappointing and boring production. The music was pre-recorded, sets amatuerish, and dancing uneven.

    Couldn't hear or see.

by TODtoTT on 10/23/10ASU Gammage - Tempe

I would recommend this event only if you get the 15th row or closer. Gammage acoustics are terrible from row 15 and back. If I didn't know the story, I wouldn't have known what was going on because I couldn't hear the words they were singing. It is a crime that Gammage charges $75.00/ticket yet won't do anything about the sound. The lighting was bad too. It seemed like it was too dark on the stage so you couldn't see the characters and they would abruptly turn off the spot lot often. It also amazes me that they sell bagged chips at such an event. People are clueless with the noise they make and don't care anyway if they are disturbing the show!

Beauty and the Beast was the best!

    by caligrl0630 on 10/22/10ASU Gammage - Tempe

I went with my sister to see the performance of Beauty and the Beast and I was thrilled. I have always wanted to see this show and it was so worth paying the extra money to sit in the 9th row. I laughed and I cried.

    Beauty is Best

by wrestlerlver on 10/22/10ASU Gammage - Tempe

The show was amazing! I would see it again and again if I could. The atmospher, the magic, and the performers were bar none the best in the buisness. If you are looking for a magical, wonderful night for you and the whole family go see this show. You will never regret or forget it.

Beauty & the Beast...Glad we went!

    by Mommaof3girls on 10/22/10ASU Gammage - Tempe

We brought our two oldest daughters, ages 5 & 7. There were several younger children in the audience. While about half of the songs were the ones we know and love from Disney's animated Beauty and the Beast, there were some that were new to us. The lively numbers were obvious crowd favorites. Much of the performance is darker (in actual lighting) and seemingly slower than our media-savy kids may be accustomed to....my 5 year old was scared by a few of the scenes and fidgety before intermission. One thing that bothered me was the physical violence toward Belle. Gaston raised his hand to strike her (he did not strike her, though). My 7 year old noticed this, too. The next morning she said, "The Beast and Gaston have something in common...the way they grabbed Belle." So, I know the "real" Beauty and the Beast story is much darker than the Disney version. However, it still bothered me. Had my girls not been there, it probably would not have stuck with me.

The costumes were great, the characters sounded almost identical to the characters in the Disney movie and Chip was ADORABLE! My daughter and I loved it!

I had been to the Broadway show in NYC when I was younger and thought this would be a fantastic show for my daughter and I to go see together. It was amazing.

Beauty & the Beast terrible sound!!!

by KCinAZ on 10/22/10ASU Gammage - Tempe

The costumes, acting, characters were all fabulous. But, the sound was terrible. Very, very hard to hear their voices over the music and when they spoke their lines, forget it. You could not hear them at all! Many, many other people around us complained about it as well. I went up to an usher to complain and she said she let them know, but nothing changed. We were in Row 10, I can't imagine if you were further back??

    Spectacular Musical

by Kashewi on 10/22/10ASU Gammage - Tempe

What a magnificent play! I would put this one up with the best of them. I prioritized the characters in rank of who I thought acted the part best. 1. Gustan and La Foo 2. Belle 3. Lumeire 4. Mrs. Potts 5. Clocksworth 6. Everyone else....

Beauty and the Beast--worth the money!

by danakuhn on 10/22/10ASU Gammage - Tempe

Wonderful theatre show--the performers were awesome! My little girl was loving it! (as was I) Prices of souvenirs were very good, although the selection was very bland. The only part I did not like was that they allowed for extremely late seating. Very annoying. That was not allowed for Wicked!

    Unforgetable Performance

by AJeffries on 10/22/10ASU Gammage - Tempe

Beauty and the Beast is my younger sister's favorite Disney movie so we decided to see this show for our sister's night out. We were not disappointed. What a wonderful performance on every level. We laughed, we cried and did not want the show to end. Liz was the perfect Belle. Her voice was incredible. The gentleman who played Gaston just nailed the part, and we fell in love with the Beast too!!

    Entertaining

    by LOwens4 on 10/22/10ASU Gammage - Tempe

We took my 10 year old daughter to see the show. We were all definitely entertained. We loved the sets, the music and the dance numbers. The costumes were incredible. The "Beast" had an amazing voice and Belle was very good as well. Our only complaint was the lack of a live orchestra - and some sound issues. Some of the characters were very hard to understand - especially the father and the candlestick. We missed out on a lot of the dialog because we couldn't hear them. Overall, we really enjoyed the show.
