BEAUTIFUL – The Carole King Musical tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation.
Featuring a stunning array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King and Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil, including “I Feel The Earth Move,” “One Fine Day,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “You’ve Got A Friend” and the title song, BEAUTIFUL has a book by and Tony® Award-nominee and Academy® Award-nominated writer Douglas McGrath, direction by Marc Bruni, choreography by Josh Prince, and took home two 2014 Tony® Awards and a 2015 Grammy® Award.
A great play, based on the life of Carol King - starting at the age of 16, writing songs well before she ever became famous and covers her failed marriage. A total show filled with all the great songs of the 60's and 70's we all know. Her most famous album songs cap off the evening.
The show was amazing. On a Chicago Girls Shopping trip weekend. We loved the show. Would highly recommend it.....

This was SO well written and really showed the emotions and story that was behind all of my favorite songs. Carole king is just brilliant in the telling of the story, her songs and that area are my time of life I remember and loved the most. The main lead was so good, all the other dancers and singers were great... I love Love LoVED it!

Treat yourself to The Carole King Musical BEAUTIFUL. It is energizing, engaging, and excellent. Not only are the performers first rate - wow, what voices and what musicianship -- but the story to be told is heartfelt. Carole King's rise to recognition was not the simplest of stories, but her fortitude, centeredness, and genuine character shine through. She is remarkable individual on so many levels. This is also a history of music through the lyrics and music of talented people; it just take your breath away. Do not miss this show; from start to finish, it IS five-shining star-show! This is a story of success on so many levels -- what a joy to witness this performance.
The musical was energenic, funny and singers were perfect! The actress that played Carole was the best and she sounded just like Carole King! Overall, it was a great experience!
If you are in to music or not this play is for you The script is very straigth forward i saw this in chicago For my 20th weeding aniversary and it was the best as of now. It is awsomez

She was amazing. Unless you know ahead of time, you will be amazed by the nmber of songs she wrote or co-wrote. Good actors and great voices and an amazing life. Good she did not follow her mother's advise. Really good show.hearing the names of songs which then led into the musical version and the closing number.
If you grew up with music from the 60s and 70s, you will love this play and hearing all the great music that these four musicians wrote. And if you can still envision Carole King's Tapestry album sitting in your bedroom, you will find the story arc of this play quite amazing. We saw it on opening night, and the cast reveived a well-deserved standing ovation.
Abbey Mueller gives a stand-out performance as Carole King in this touring production of "Beautiful". The rest of the cast is absolutely outstanding as well; this is a play not soon forgotten! Watching Abbey/Carole compose/sing/perform her songs in the context of her life is fascinating and when some of the groups that she composed for morph onto the stage, it is rioutously great singing and choreography. We just got back from NYC and 5 plays on Broadway; this one play was better than the five we saw (nearly all Tony winners!)
