BEAR'S DEN IN CONCERT:
London folk-rock outfit Bear's Den have been steadily capturing the hearts of hipsters everywhere with their warm harmonies and guitar-driven sound. The bearded and flannel-wearing trio combine thoughtfully crafted lyrics with intricate banjo licks, and their live shows are full of the same raw emotion that's evident on their dazzling recordings. One of the UK's hottest must-see acts, Bear's Den are sure to impress on their latest tour, bringing venues like Varsity Theatre to capacity where they'll treat concertgoers to hits like "Sophie" and "Sahara Pt. II" along with their unparalleled rendition of Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home".
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Bear's Den is comprised of longtime friends Andrew Davie, Joey Haynes, and Kevin Jones, who combined their wide musical influences to arrive at the band's ecclectic folk-rock sound. Drawing inspiration from a variety of legendary acts ranging from Michael Jackson to Elvis, the band released their breakout EP Agape in 2013, giving fans a taste of their emotive music and earning significant press from several mainstream publications like Rolling Stone and Paste Magazine. After spending time on the road with Matt Corby and Mumford & Sons, Bear's Den returned to the studio to record their shining 2014 full-length debut Without/Within, a heartfelt release that proves they're a rising new force within the folk-rock community. Hot off the heels of a North American headlining tour, Bear's Den return to the stage for a number of UK and European dates, treating fans to their prized collection of hits.
Worth every penny! Definitely see them again and the Neptune was a good venue for the show
I pretty amazing show that was even more amazing by the acoustic sets where they turned off their amps and played. Even the opening band was awesome! This easily slides in as one of the best shows I have seen and it will stick with me for some time.
They are fabulous live performers. The best event however was last time they were here at First Avenue. This is the fifth time seeing them and will continue to see them whenever they are in town.
The venue was an ideal location for this show. The crowd were real fans of the band, and made the experience memorable. We loved the opener, Izzy, as well. It managed to be an intimate, special show, that was just as good in a crowd as listening to their records. I've been a fan of Bear's Den for over ten years, and I look forward to seeing them again soon.
Wonderful energy from the band and the crowd. Look forward to seeing them again.
Bears Den was awesome. Sound was really good. Venue was clean, friendly, no issues. Wonderful experience!
Really enjoyed the show at 9:30 Club in DC. Great set list as well.
My wife and I have seen them twice and loved both shows. I particularly love the two unplugged songs, including one song in the encore when they came out into the audience and sang "Gabriel" about two feet from us. Even the songs I was less familiar with were great. Very good warm up band also.
To start, the venue is incredible. Its easy accessibility coupled with the rather small open space makes it perfect for intimate shows. From anywhere in the room there is a great view of the stage with plenty of room to move around. As for the band, Bears Den was amazing! They played every song a fan would want to hear. They were very tight and polished, sounding just like you would expect their live recordings to. They unplugged to perform not one, but two songs acoustically. A rare treat nowadays at any show. Then to take it completely over the top, they came off stage with their instruments to perform the second unplugged acoustic song in the middle of the audience. I have been to quite a few shows of all kinds and I have never seen a band connect with an audience in such a way. If you ever have the opportunity to see them live do not pass it up. You will not be disappointed!
I've been to lots of shows but I have never enjoyed a concert this much. Bear's Den is phenomenal live. It is obvious that they are passionate about their work and that they have fun performing. Their audience interaction was also great, they kept everyone enthralled. And the crowd loved them, everyone seemed to know every word of their songs. I felt like I was in the midst of fellow diehard Bear's Den fans that evening. It was incredible. On a side note: It was awesome to have met the lead singer, Andrew Davie (I even had a selfie with him). And it was cool that both Andrew Davie and Kevin Jones signed the vinyls I purchased that evening. Nice guys! Oh yeah, they even performed the Boston-related song that I requested, Pixies', "Where is My Mind."
