    BSMF

by gud2goe390 on 5/9/15Tom Lee Park - Memphis

i liked all the hard rock bands this year. great weather and times had by all. i was a lil disappointed in the lack of r&b acts though. the south stage(bud light stage) had video screens up and that was awesome. although i know that weather would impact that at past events, it was still a great addition.....great shows

    sound

by Anonymous on 5/7/15Tom Lee Park - Memphis

the sound was clipping out causing the speakers to distort, could have been much more enjoyable had this been corrected

3 Days of Fun in the Sun!

by KermitFrog on 5/7/15Tom Lee Park - Memphis

This year I went for the full 3 days of music and really enjoyed myself. There are good sides and bad sides to big festival like this. The Good- for around $100 you get the chance to watch so many great performers, legends, current stars and new artists. The line up was very good and I can honestly say i did not witness a bad performance myself. Being near Beale Street and other local attractions helps to fill the first part of the day before the music even starts. The free stuff they give away while heading to the stages is also cool. Also i got the chance to meet people, both locally and from all around the sates as well as the world. Truly amazing! The Bad-The crowds can be a bit much at times making it hard to move from one stage to another after it starts getting dark. Visibility can be an issue depending how early you get to the stage. The park is kinda flat so those stages which did not use big screens most of the time you could have a hard time seeing the performers well. I was lucky as I had arrived in time to find decent spots, but not everyone is so lucky. Most of the crowd seemed better mannered than the ones I witnessed last year. A downside was the smoking which was more abundant than any concert I have been too since my first one back in 93. Sorry but most people that smoke seem very selfish and inconsiderate of those around them that don't smoke and for an open air park park it felt like I was breathing smoke an awful lot . The positives do outweigh the negatives and I did have a blast. Loved watching P-Funk and the way the audience was a good mix of all races enjoying the music together.

5 Stars for Lineup and Views, 3 for Venue Setup

by MerDee on 5/7/15Tom Lee Park - Memphis

The setting for the location is perfectly situated on the banks of the Mississippi River with beautiful views. Unfortunately, the stages and numerous vendor tents were set up in a narrow straight line which did not allow for fluid movement between sets. There was a small stage set up for some great Blues music but it was completely drowned out by the Bud Light Stage next to it. There was no logic to that and it's unfortunate that we couldn't enjoy the performances. We really enjoyed John Fogerty, Lenny Kravitz, Hozier, Wilco, The Pixies, Jenny Lewis and Ed Sheeran.

Great time -- only George Clinton Disappointed

by RoadTripFromMich on 5/7/15Tom Lee Park - Memphis

We chose Memphis as our mini-vacation destination to check the box on attending the BSMF. We really enjoyed ourselves - ate/drank well, met very nice and interesting people, paid our respects to Elvis and the other music legends (alive or not), and of course listened to awesome music at the festival. The acts that drew us to the festival all put an awesome show - especially Lenny K, Pixies, Spin Doctors, Slash, Kenny W.S., Band of Horses, Ed Sheeran, John Fogerty! - JF was SO good. Surprise bands we really enjoyed and are now on the must-see-again list are Cage The Elephant, Big Head Todd & TM, Lecrea, and Flogging Molly. Hozier also very talented and put on a good show -- needs to mature his stage presence. Wilco predictably good with awesome musicianship but kinda boring. Scott Weiland was solid but walked off at the end without even a thank you - really Scott? The only disappointment was George Clinton & P-Funk. We had such high expectations and were so ready. Those guys have lost their funk and gone thug. Clearly playing for themselves and killing time. The audience so wanted to get into it but they didn't groove. Talented bands don't have to beg the audience to make noise, drop F-bombs and make other lude remarks, or hump the microphone stand for a rise. With 10+ people on stage, including a horn section, they could have put themselves back on the map. A dang shame. On a blues note, we caught Preston Shannon (twice) and he is terrific. We also happened to catch WILL TUCKER in the blues tent and "WOW!". He is the real deal and, at his young age, is going to be absolutely huge. Hope he makes it to Michigan soon. Thanks Memphis for a great extended weekend!

    Rock Hard!!

by Anonymous on 5/7/15Tom Lee Park - Memphis

I waited until the line-up came out for Beale Street Music Festival but when it did I had to immediately get tickets. The line-up was stacked this year and I could not have been more excited. Going to see amazing bands like Paramore, Lenny Kravitz, Breaking Benjamin, and Ed Sheeran were of course the highlight of my night but don't count out the guys you have never heard of. Of Mice and Men killed the stage opening for Rise Against and while The Bleachers isn't usually my style of music the brought loads of energy to the house after an astounding Lindsey Sterling performance. My advice would be not to get starstruck and venture into the unknown bands because Beale Street Music Festival brings a whole host of people to listen to. It is definitely a festival for all generations (except maybe the little kiddies). Remember to get there early for good spots and rock out to your favorite bands!!

    Great Music/ Beautiful setting

by McFido on 5/7/15Tom Lee Park - Memphis

It helped that the weather was fantastically perfect! The range of music at this fest was so diverse there was something for everyone. Listening to Hozier on stage as the sun was setting was perfection. If you like music in general, especially if you like multiple genres this fest is for you! I will be back!

Cage the Elephant and Soul Asylum were outstanding

by PSM666 on 5/7/15Tom Lee Park - Memphis

Once again a fabulous line-up. Hard to see all of the headlining acts when they are all on at the same time, pick and choose. Always walk away with new bands to follow. Sunny days two years in a row, hoping for three-2016 40th anniversery looking forward to it.
