About

BC Lions History

The BC Lions open their 71st season in the Canadian Football League (CFL) on Saturday, June 7 at home to the Edmonton Elks. Founded in 1954, the Lions have made ten appearances in the Grey Cup, Canada’s football championship, and have won the cup six times: in 1964, 1985, 1994, 2000, 2006 and 2011. The Lions have claimed the Grey Cup twice on their home turf, including their notable 1994 victory over the former Baltimore Football Club, which prevented a U.S.-based team from hoisting Canadian football’s top prize. Following world class renovations to the stadium, the Lions won another Grey Cup at home in 2011. The Lions logged the CFL’s second-longest streak of playoff appearances, running for 20 consecutive seasons between 1997 and 2016. Throughout the BC Lions’ history, individual players have claimed 14 Most Outstanding Rookie Awards, 11 Most Outstanding Canadian Awards and Most Outstanding Defensive Player Awards apiece, seven Most Outstanding Player Awards, and five Annis Stukus Trophies for the CFL’s Coach of the Year.

Great backyard party, even with inclement weather. Score was close from start to finish and made for lots of excitement. It's been awhile since I've been to a game where no one left early.

The cost for a playoff game with great seats was well worth the money. Exceptional entertainment and very exciting game play. The BC Lions &!CFL have an excellent product. Sadly, new rules next year will ruin the excitement and uniqueness of the CFL and it will no longer be worth following, unless the changes are rescinded.

  • Mostly good, with a flaw

by Irene on 9/30/25BC Place - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

If you are going to BC Place, be advised that if your personal bag (purse, shoulder bag, etc) exceeds a VERY small size, you'll be forced to check it at your expense. I paid $10 for a bag that *barely* exceeded the measurements. NOWHERE along the way in the purchasing of our ticket or upon payment or on *the ticket ITSELF* was there any indication that personal bags would not be allowed beyond a specific size. I was told by the BC Lions staff that day that, yes, it was on the website but not at all in an obvious place...sort of a "fine print"situation. If you are going to charge people money for something, the least you can do is warn them ahead of time. This is the opposite of customer service on the part of BC Place. They ought to be embarrassed, at the very least.

  • Stay in your own seat

    by N P on 7/30/25BC Place - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Hi take my time when selecting my seats. I went to concessions to find other people seated in my seat and told me to find other seats. They said our friends are here so you go and move somewhere else. I was with my kids and chose the higher road. As this family was very entitled. I did tell a person at the game and they smiles and said can you just find another seat. Poor staff and even more that entitled famous with a child. You are to wonder what else goes on in that entitled household
