    Not what we expected...

by NOLABaby12 on 11/25/12Mercedes-Benz Superdome - New Orleans

NOT what we expected of an event of this caliber. Bad sound system, seemingly not very organized. Rivalry is understood, but insulting remarks went a bit overboard. Prob won't be back.

The step show was not entertaining and the band for Grambling University was awful. The step show probably would have been a little better if the sound was better(i.e. better microphone placement). It seemed like the steppers were trying too hard to be creative with the different scenes and music but most of them seemed to not have any rhythm. Southern University's band was very good. Other bands from other universities should probably participate in the future because the two schools had to do too many songs. I was shocked that they sat down during the performances. I thought I was going to see marching band performances, not sitting band performances. I will never pay to see something like that again. I was with two teenagers who asked to leave early. They were not impressed either. I felt bad because we hyped it up to them thinking they may choose to attend one of these schools in the future.

Battle of the Bands a Big Disappointment

by Rocket2 on 12/2/11Mercedes-Benz Superdome - New Orleans

The two-hour Greek step show that preceded the bands nearly put us to sleep. It was way too much. When the bands appeared, imagine our surprise when they were not in their uniforms, just practice sweats. We had expected marching and formations, but they sat in bleachers. What a disappointment!

    Battle of the Bands

by RaggaeListener1 on 12/1/11Mercedes-Benz Superdome - New Orleans

It was great. I wish the drum lines could have battled it out though.

I AM GLAD THAT TICKET MASTER IS SUPPORTING HIGHER LEVEL EDUCATION. THIS EVENT IS A HISTORICAL RIVALRY AND THE SUPPORT FROM ALL PARTICIPANTS WAS AMAZING.

    General admission

by Waltdaddy on 11/28/11Mercedes-Benz Superdome - New Orleans

The shows were great. We enjoyed ourselves at the event. The only problem I had was it was general admission but the had almost the whole bottom reserved then it is not general admission. They should just sale tickets for the regular event seat by seat and do away with the general admission.

Battle of the Bands / Greek Show

by ProspectiveGSUstudent on 11/28/11Mercedes-Benz Superdome - New Orleans

The Battle of the Bands was very entertaining. I'm glad the bands performed last. The stage and bands were arranged so that all spectators could see. The jumbo screens were wonderful. Elderlly that could barely walk were present to see their family, freinds and had to walk up those very steep steps in the DARK. Not good. Please make arrangements before next year. "I hope all of the Divine 9 from both schools would plan to participate in the Greek show". I'm thankful for the openness to other groups but spectators come to see the Divine 9. Please help with that before next year. Sound system and computer effects creativeness were great. Much much better than past years. This was my first year to attend since Katrina. The dome looks very nice. Restrooms were well attended. Ushers were very helpful. Please allow guest to enter the facility at least 2 hours before the event. Standing in lines at the door, with no visible security in the dark waiting to enter the dome is very scary and dangerous. All ages are present and excited to attend the visit. Pushing, swearing, screaming takes place when the doors are opened an hour before the event. Seats are not reserved so everyone anciously runs for the door. IThe crowd is just too large for that. Is it like that at the Saints games? A problem. The same exact thing happened for the game the very next day. It was raining. Fans were made to stand in the RAIN! All ages. Not good. A problem. People pay lots of money to support the weekend events. Something has to be done. Preferrably before next year please. Thanks Please pass the word, vendors and outside concert was awesome. Especially the setup.

Battle of the Bands not really

by SeminoleConyers on 11/28/11Mercedes-Benz Superdome - New Orleans

IN reality this is just a talent show, and not a very good one by far, at least first 2 hours. They call this part the Greek Show (may because the the group name's are in Greek letters) Then the 2 marching bands perform 6 pieces each. we drove from Georgia based on publicity. First an last, very disappointing. No marching band battle, just a warm up for the next day event.

First experience and it was not worth it!

by DWNUPE on 11/28/11Mercedes-Benz Superdome - New Orleans

Let me start off by first saying that both bands played really good. SU was the clear winner but they never announce who won! The doors were opened about 30 min late and the security was non-existent. Any and everybody came in without being checked. Secondly, the Greek step show took too long even though some put on a good show. I came to see the band! The format for the battle of the bands was a joke. I don’t think the organizer truly allowed the bands to battle and therefore shine. It was almost pre-staged and not exciting like I anticipated. I went to the game the following day and the bands did better at the game when they were allowed to do what they do best, PLAY. Next time allow the bands to do their thing and play current music and not so much old school songs and completely take out letting people sing.

    Battle of the Bands Rocked!!!!

by WhoDat504 on 11/28/11Mercedes-Benz Superdome - New Orleans

The Battle of the Bands was great this year. Southern and Grambling Universities brought their "A" game. I loved it and look forward to next year.

    Interesting

by Dgene84 on 11/28/11Mercedes-Benz Superdome - New Orleans

Firstly dome has been too cold the last 2 years which is the sentiment of many. Then in relations to the show the greek show intrelude need to be cut in half and more time to the bands. Many times the stage host asked "are you ready for the bands" with a roaring crowd saying yea. The main reason people come is for the band though the support is there for the greeks but it need to be more band and less greek.

    BOTB LIke It Should Be!!!

    by Rockstar221 on 3/10/11Ohio Union - Columbus

I am so happy they moved Battle of the Bands back to the Newport this year!!! This event is always awesome for checking out the best bands at Ohio State, but having it at The Newport makes it all the better! Plus this all goes towards a charity.

    First Class Entertainment

by FanOfMaze on 11/29/10Superdome - New Orleans

Once again, The Bayou Classic Battle of the Bands was outstanding. High energy performances and top notch entertainment. Both schools work hard to showcase their talents for this event, but in this battle Southern University clearly walks away with a flawless victory. Can't wait to come back next year!

Battle of the Bands - Great once again

by dquent88 on 11/29/10Louisiana Superdome - New Orleans

The greek show was awesome. Def one of those things everyone should experience in their lifetime. Battle of the Bands was mind-blowing once again. The bands from SU and GSU put on a great show. A lot of passion and good music, great vibe throughout the building. Music and HBCUs at their best.
