Barrymore was outstanding Christopher at his best

by billsbaby on 2/1/11Elgin Theatre - Toronto

we have seen Christopher live three times in the past five years. twice at Srattford...King Lear and Tempest. He gets better with age. My husband and I along with the packed house were thoroughly entertained.

    The Essential Plummer was there

by brassfan on 1/31/11Elgin Theatre - Toronto

This was vintage Plummer, with some in jokes and some of his signature moves (Watch his left hand with the fingers always turning down). Staging was good and lighting subtle but effective. Costuming in the second half was very adventurous ... if I had legs that good at that age I'd go for it too! I liked it that the staging allowed for sitting from time to time, meaning that there's enough stamina and energy to make it through the whole thing -- done very subtly as it was in C&C the year before last but obviously designed to help this master do what he does best, which is present the material. Great laughs, chuckles and giggles.

Unbelievable! Shocking Good! Must See. Must See Again. This is a production where the playwright, actors, and director clearly saw eye-to-eye and where the stagecraft was strong and un-distracting. It's not what you though it would be, it's much better. Imagine a life and time you would have loved to have lived. Ride the emotional roller coaster of man who fell off and could't get back on. Most of all, find reason to celebrate the brilliance of actor Christopher Plummer and writer William Luce.
