About

BARRY GIBB IN CONCERT:

As a founding member of the Bee Gees, Barry Gibb is responsible for some of the most beloved and iconic songs of the 20th century, sharing a songwriting record with none other than John Lennon and Paul McCartney for having six consecutive No. 1's  on the Billboard Hot 100. Gibb's distinctive R&B falsetto — virtually synonymous with the '70s — is as impressive today as it was 40 years ago, eliciting collective swoons from fans during performances of disco hits like "Night Fever" and "How Deep Is Your Love" at his 2013 concerts. Gibbs may be the only surviving Bee Gee, but he more than holds his own as a solo performer, carrying on the band's legacy with another eagerly awaited string of concerts on the Mythology Tour in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born on the Isle of Man in Britain, brother's Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibbs founded the Bee Gees after their family relocated to Australia in 1958. Featuring intricate vocal harmonies, the band's early sound closely resembled the '60s-era rock popularized by the Beatles, earning them a string of international hits in the swinging decade including "To Love Somebody" and "Massachusetts." It was the band's turn to disco in the mid-'70s, however, that brought them their biggest success — their contributions to the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack propelled the album to No. 1 in the UK and US, ringing in the heyday of disco and landing them an impressive five simultaneous Top 10 singles in the US — a chart dominance that hadn't been seen since the Beatles' mid-'60s run.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"The Barry Gibb solo concert was awesome. I think he did a fantastic job on his own without his fellow Bee Gees... Barry can do a show solo and deliver. It was very enjoyable, he sounds great, and can still hit those high notes."

"Barry looked and sounded TERRIFIC! He hasn't changed a bit. His voice sounded better in concert than any record I could remember. The song list was beautiful, and I really enjoyed some of his earlier recordings."

"Wow — we were blown away by how amazing the voice of Barry continues to be. He really touched our hearts with his reaction to the crowd. Rarely do you see an entertainer display such humility while performing, but Barry was the exception."

Barry Gibb is still multi-talented at 65! The absence of his brothers does not detract from this concert whatsoever, enjoyable set spanning the beginning of their career thru their Fever days. A great time was had by all.

We were not expecting Barry Gibb to sound that great after all these years. Also, because he didn't have any of his brothers to help with the songs. To our amazement, he was absolutely fantastic with his singing, and his wonderful personality!!! His back up singers and musicians were also very good, and the whole show brought me to tears (happy ones) starting with the very first song!! Everyone around me was screaming and thrilled with his performance as wel!. He even was able to ake some of those same "sounds" and high notes and they brought everyone to their feet screaming, we love you Barry. I am 71 yrs. old and have always loved the BeeGees music and listen to them daily. He fullfilled my dream of seeing him perform again and amazed that he still had it i him. Having his son and neice perform made it special too!

This was my third time seeing Barry perform live. He is an amazing singer. I also enjoyed the duet he did with his niece, Samantha and the solo his son, Stephen did. It was a family affair even without Robin and Maurice. Barry did not disappoint!

Totally brought back a lot of memories. Both good & bad. He did a fantastic job. His duet with his niece was terrific. She will go places. While not into Steve's music he certainly plays a mean guitar.

Barry Gibb was amazing. He still has his voice. He was so emotional and humble, He kept thanking the audience for coming and I kept saying no Thank you for performing for us. People were screaming and crying. He sang many songs also duets with one of his lady singers. His son was there to sing for us and play his electric guitar. so cool. Maurice's daughter sang for us , what a beautiful voice. My husband and I loved it so much. we were dancing and loving every minute.

  • Magical evening with a genius

by PeanutLouie on 2/23/12Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first (I hope not the last) time seeing a musician and songwriter whose work I've admired for years. These wonderful songs are so much a part of millions of people's lives; to hear them performed live is powerful. Barry Gibb's voice is in very fine form indeed (this is demanding music to sing), and his passion, sincerity, humor and brilliance are also intact. He really shared his heart with the audience, in a way I'm not sure I've ever experienced before. This is a performer who is gracious and very much present, giving his all. Two days later, and I'm still thinking about this show ... Barry, I do hope you'll play live more often. We love you, man! The band was excellent too - female back-up singers added a lot to the sound (brilliant idea!).

The show was fabulous and his son Steven was excellent as well. He also had Sammie (Maurice daughter ) sing with him. She was great. The vocals for this family has to be genetic. The memorial to his brothers Lost is a new song called "Immortal" what a lovely dedication. Warm wishes to Robin. Truly a wonderful man. This show really brought back great Memories.
