About

BARRY GIBB IN CONCERT:

As a founding member of the Bee Gees, Barry Gibb is responsible for some of the most beloved and iconic songs of the 20th century, sharing a songwriting record with none other than John Lennon and Paul McCartney for having six consecutive No. 1's  on the Billboard Hot 100. Gibb's distinctive R&B falsetto — virtually synonymous with the '70s — is as impressive today as it was 40 years ago, eliciting collective swoons from fans during performances of disco hits like "Night Fever" and "How Deep Is Your Love" at his 2013 concerts. Gibbs may be the only surviving Bee Gee, but he more than holds his own as a solo performer, carrying on the band's legacy with another eagerly awaited string of concerts on the Mythology Tour in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born on the Isle of Man in Britain, brother's Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibbs founded the Bee Gees after their family relocated to Australia in 1958. Featuring intricate vocal harmonies, the band's early sound closely resembled the '60s-era rock popularized by the Beatles, earning them a string of international hits in the swinging decade including "To Love Somebody" and "Massachusetts." It was the band's turn to disco in the mid-'70s, however, that brought them their biggest success — their contributions to the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack propelled the album to No. 1 in the UK and US, ringing in the heyday of disco and landing them an impressive five simultaneous Top 10 singles in the US — a chart dominance that hadn't been seen since the Beatles' mid-'60s run.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"The Barry Gibb solo concert was awesome. I think he did a fantastic job on his own without his fellow Bee Gees... Barry can do a show solo and deliver. It was very enjoyable, he sounds great, and can still hit those high notes."

"Barry looked and sounded TERRIFIC! He hasn't changed a bit. His voice sounded better in concert than any record I could remember. The song list was beautiful, and I really enjoyed some of his earlier recordings."

"Wow — we were blown away by how amazing the voice of Barry continues to be. He really touched our hearts with his reaction to the crowd. Rarely do you see an entertainer display such humility while performing, but Barry was the exception."

    Barry Gibb was exceptional

    by happy257 on 6/19/14United Center - Chicago

I have waited for so long to see the BeeGees. Didn't get to see the whole group but it was so wonderful to see the last one. Ever since they sang their songs for the movie dance fever I just loved their music. What a wonderful gift it was to see one of them. He was excellent and there was no dissappointment in seeing the show. God bless him and his family.

Outstanding all around: song selection, sound system, visuals, mix of music and dialogue. Barry still has the voice and charisma...back up vocals also excellent. Very powerful and emotional show for those who loved all the brothers.

What a wonderful night! The music was wonderful and nostalgic. Took me for a walk down memory lane. Missed Robin and Maurice, but Barry was incredible. He held his own and the show was magical, and heartwarming as he remembered his brothers too. I want to see him again. I will say, that there is no place to see your favorite group than the Hollywood bowl. if you get a chance, go see him!

    Barry Gibb

by Lynbeemer on 6/15/14TD Garden - Boston

We traveled all the way from South Carolina to the Mythology Concert. IT WAS WORTH IT ALL!!! Off the chain, off the gold chain as Jimmy Fallon said, off the charts. I saw them in the 70's, actually wore the same outfit to this concert and no, it didn't fall apart when dry cleaned, LOL. This was a bucket list item that I can now scratch off. IT WAS AMAZING AND WE LOVED BOSTON!!!!

    Mythology tour concert

    by Beegeefan12 on 6/13/14Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

I have been a fan of the Bee Gees since I was 12 but was too young to see them in concert at that time. This was the first time seeing Barry Gibb in concert and it was amazing. He sang all the favorite songs and the sound was incredible. The most amazing part of the concert was when Barry started singing and Robin's voice was dubbed in and there was footage of him singing. It felt like he was there too! and the same for Maurice. It was a wonderful experience

    Awesome...

    by RockStar09 on 6/12/14Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

I was worried going into this...that Barry was either too old or it would be a 2 hour long tribute to the Bee Gees and his brothers. I could not have been more wrong... Barry Gibb delivered what only a true MEGASTAR can deliver. Honest, heartfelt and great music - that only a superstar can deliver. he was up there with the best...His voice was great, the set was spot on and the sound perfect. Thanks you Barry for an unforgettable concert and evening at the always AMAZING Hollywood Bowl....Thanks you.

    Barry keeps the family singing

by Jryanvta on 6/11/14Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Barry Gibb Mythology was a fantastic show! Barry may not have the best voice projection, but the vibrato is staying alive. He paid tribute to all of his brothers. The younger Gibbs were also featured-Maurice's daughter rocked!! The lighting was amazing. I really liked how the concert ended. Sorry, not going to spill the beans cause that might cause a tragedy. I hope the tour continues to other venues, would actually think of going again!

An emotional trip down memory lane!

by PIjohn on 6/11/14Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

This was an outstanding concert. It was heartfelt in the manner of respect he has for his brothers, family and the performances of his son and niece. This was the B Gees at their peak. He sounded fantastic and brought back so many memories. I am sure his brothers are proud of him carrying on the tradition and keeping the legend alive.

    by Bears4leo on 6/10/14Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

This was an awesome performance! The first concert I ever went to was to The Bee Gees in late '60s-early70's at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. It was terrific! Today's show was just as good, Sad to not have Maurice and Robin here... I loved the history and photo flash backs! Why isn't 'Holiday' in the play list??????

    Emotional Evening With Barry Gibb

by MTKESQ on 6/10/14United Center - Chicago

The Mythology Concert was an emotional experience as Barry Gibb paid tribute to his deceased brothers in song and video throughout the show. The highlight was when he sang a duet with Robin via a video. Barry's voice was outstanding and he sang falsetto flawlessly. The harmonies provided by the backup singers closely approximated Maurice and Robin. Barry interacted with the audience and seemed to be genuinely appreciative of the audience response. He sang almost all the hits, although some seemed to be in an abbreviated version. His band was comprised of 30-somethings, and included his bearded and tatooed son Stephen, who is an excellent guitarist. His niece was supposed to sing, but was ill and did not appear. The Bee Gees and Barry Gibb have never received the critical response they should have, and this show demonstrated what an amazing singer and songwriter the last of the Gibb Brothers is.

An Intimate Spectacular Show Under the Stars

by BestAdvice on 6/9/14Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

I have been a fun of the Bee Gees since I was seven and this was a dream come true. I relive the history on the making when the Bee Gees were on top of their career. I love the list of songs selected for this show since I knew them all. Everyone dance through all the night. Barry was spectacular and he was filled with emotions from the warm applauses coming from the audience. It was nonstop. It was sad that Robyn and Maurice were not on stage any longer but Barry included some cool images of the Bee Gees when they were younger. We also had some images of Andy Gibb too. I was full with emotions to hear how beautify Barry talked about his brothers and how much he loved them and missed them. On the show, Barry introduced his oldest son. He invited his son to sing with him in several occasions and he did a great job. I also enjoyed the performance of his niece. She had an amazing job and she sang with Barry in a couple of songs. The Bee Gees revolutionized music on the 70s and early 80s, and I like to see Barry continuing with the legacy. Even though the Hollywood Bowl is a great venue, Barry made us feel as part of the family and he made everyone feel so close to him. I will recommend everyone who has been a fun of the Bee Gees not to miss this concert. Barry is planning to come back and I will be the first one to purchase my tickets. This was an unforgettable night.
