Barenaked Ladies on Tour
The Barenaked Ladies have been honing their musical and comedic chops since playing gigs around Canada with a comedy troupe in the late 1980s. Starting out as an acoustic duo, they quickly expanded into a full-fledged band and became well-known for their fun and dynamic live shows, where they’d throw in some of their improv and rapping skills. Since those early shows, the Ladies have been performing nearly continuously on tours that have crisscrossed the globe. Since 2004, they’ve been especially focused on the environment, offering eco-friendly options at their shows and using biodiesel to get around on the road.
Barenaked Ladies in Concert
With an amusing mix of pop, rock, sincerity and humor, the Barenaked Ladies are one of Canada’s most endearing exports. Over the years, they’ve been in a constant state of evolution, scoring hit singles in the ‘90s, contributing theme songs for TV shows like The Big Bang Theory and Odd Job Jack, releasing a holiday album, dropping an award-winning children’s album and even creating a popular fan cruise (called “Ships and Dip”). The band started humbly enough in the late ‘80s, as just an acoustic duo, featuring vocalists and schoolmates Ed Robertson and Steven Page. The name Barenaked Ladies started out as a joke, but ended up sticking — and the fact that it came off slightly scandalous ended up being to their advantage. After adding brothers Jim and Andy Creeggan and drummer Tyler Stewart to the mix, the band self-released The Yellow Tape EP in 1991. It proved to be a big success, mostly via word of mouth and their live shows. That same year, they were invited to perform at the New Year’s Eve concert outside Toronto’s City Hall, but were denied by then-mayor June Rowlands who denounced the band’s name as sexist. This minor controversy only raised the Ladies’ profile, and The Yellow Tape became the first independently released album to go platinum in Canada. They subsequently signed with a major label, Sire Records, and released their debut album, Gordon, in 1992. Folky singles like “If I Had $1,000,000” and “Brian Wilson” would become some of their most popular songs, but it’d take a few more albums before the Ladies finally topped the charts with 1998’s rapping sensation “One Week.” Going into the 21st century, the band would continue on an impressive recording spree, especially once they went back to being independent and created their own record label, Desperation Records. They released a few popular themed albums, including 2004’s Barenaked for the Holidays and 2008’s Snacktime! for kids. Even after original member Page left the band in 2009, the Barenaked Ladies have continued on, with albums like 2017’s Fake Nudes, and a number of tours around North America and beyond. In 2018, they were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame after 30 years as a band.
From terrible off-key vocals to not-so-funny comedic lines….these guys really were a disappointment. An hour and 20 mins into the show and there were 2 of their popular songs. The rest were Christmas themed or songs we didn’t know. I expected it to be a mediocre show at best, but this fell below that. We ended up leaving.
Our seats were second row, we were close to the stage which was up high so that when people came down to stand at the stage we could still see the Barenaked Ladies performing. The Barenaked Ladies themselves were funny and highly entertaining and talented! An all around excellent experience!
The fact that the Barenaked Ladies still have as much fun on stage as they did 35 years ago is a testament to their longevity. I really enjoyed the show, and the venue.
Attended the BNL show at Rama on Dec 1st. Amazing show. Our first time seeing BNL live but won’t be our last. Great mix of music including some good new songs and a mix of hits and Xmas songs.
Had a wonderful time catching the Barenaked Ladies in San Diego this past June 22nd at SDSU's Open Air Theatre. Have seen them 8 times over the years and this show was just as fantastic as others in the past. They still sound outstanding and fill the venue with positive vibes and good cheer. Semisonic was a great complement to the evening. Thank you BNL!
In all the concerts I have been to in my life, I have never experienced an entire crowd (with the lights on) smiling, dancing and not even needing a band to sing the words. A GREAT night out and a memory that will last a lifetime.
We did the Meet and Greet before the show and BNL could not have been nicer! I have seen them over 40 times, which is not a lot compared to some of their other fans, and they put on a great show! Very engaging and energetic......they connect with the audience and you can tell that they enjoy what they are doing. Thanks for returning to Boston year after year! We LOVE to see you.
Barenaked Ladies played at Blossom Music Center after two opening acts. Perhaps that is why they played what seemed like a breviated set. The quality and energy of the show was great just seemed short.
WHAT A WONDERFUL CONCERT!!! THE VENUE, FOOD & BEVERAGES, AND THE BANDS WERE ALL ABSOLUTLEY FABULOUS!!! GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!
Great venue. Easy parking and access! Bare Naked Ladies can still produce a great show and have fun doing it. Glad we went

The performance was great, but what made the night magical was the staff at Blossom Music Center! They went above and beyond to show my son Cole a great time at his first concert.
The Barenaked Ladies are one of the best concerts I've ever been to, I have seen them at least eight times and they never disappoint. You can tell they love what they do and they are entertaining every minute they are up on that stage. They have fun with themselves and with the crowd and everybody leaves with a smile on their face.
Great concert, awesome music.. ended up next to two people who were clearly over served and were talking, yelling and at one point, couldn’t hear the music. The two people next to my wife were vaping and smoking like crazy… why do they check bags? Why did I pay more for pavilion seating? I like concerts but with low standards for serving and security I don’t know if I would go again. The 5 stars was for the music not the venue.

It was a fun show. I really enjoyed seeing Delimitri and 5 for fighting with BNL.
I knew their hits and a few deeper tracks but was really impressed with both the musicianship and the self-effacing humor. The lead singer busting on their homeland Canada was hysterical but, unlike other shows I've been to lately (i.e. CAKE), the commentary did not overtake the music.
Love this concert every year but this year was the best! So fun and entertaining!!!!!
