My favorite opera of all time is "The Barber of Seville", and the El Paso Opera did not disappoint! Great performers, the orchestra was fantastic, and overall, amazing in every way possible!

Me and my boyfriend have never been to an opera before, so we were not sure if we would like it. But it was a breath-taking experience, the sound, the visual effects... Highly recommend!

    Miami Lyric Opera is Great!

by Rawroro on 10/9/12Lincoln Theater - Miami

Everything about the opera was outstanding. The orchestra was incredible, each piece of music made you sink deeper into the story. Accordingly, the voices of the actors/singers were powerfully captivating and their enthusiasm and energy drove the show towards perfection. Overall, the performance was great, I felt the music, laughed constantly and left completely satisfied.

    Barber of Seville was fantastic!

by Showbabes on 5/3/11DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

Such Talent! Such voices! And the venue was spectacular! I had never been to the Opera before - let alone an Italian Opera! The sub-titles helped us to really enjoy the performance and gave us enough to know what was going on with the show . The acting and singing were so good that even without the subtitles we could have figured out the plot. Great charactarization and lively acting!

The play was great and easy to follow. The singers and actors did an outstanding job and kept it funny. A little long, but worth it.

The Barber of Seville was hilarious, my boyfriend and I laughed so much we almost cried. It was unforgettable. Now I know what the Bugs Bunny cartoons were about too now. It was culture, entertainment, and comedy. It was great!!!

    Barber of Seville

by crwdog13 on 5/2/11DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

This was our families first opera to attend. We chose this one due to its comedic nature. We all enjoyed it though didn't realize how long it would be and found we were a little tired by the end. All the singers were wonderful, we thoroughly enjoyed their performances and their vocal ranges. The venue was the perfect size for this type of performance. By the way, we also loved the GRS orchestra as they did a fine job and we were entertained. Our son plays the viola and I know he loved the performance-I am always happy when he gets the opportunity to view and listen to professional performances as I feel it further enhances his love for the music.

    Excellant Weekend w/ my Wife

by DarrenandElham on 5/2/11DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

Spent the weekend in Downtown Grand Rapids with my wife. We went to the De Vos Place to see The Barber of Seville. The production was excellent. The Count, Figaro, & Rosina performers did a fabulous job. Certainly a night we will remember. Can not give 5 stars, and to no fault of the production, but rather the ushers would allow the doors entering the seating area to slam shut during the performance. This was not isolated to one area, but not a deal breaker. Will return the Opera Grand Rapids.

    must attend!

by embetee on 5/1/11DeVos Performance Hall - Grand Rapids

Barber of Seville was entertaining and well staged. Ashley Emerson is to be commended as well as Jerett Gieseler for sound vocals and ease in acting. Scott Bearden handled the fast passages with clarity and amazing diction. At times the well-rehearsed orchestra overpowered the actors' voices.

I am a new Opera fan, not musically "gifted" to say the least. I totally enjoyed this opera production. The music, the acting, the costumes, all wonderful. I laughed out loud, and was mesmerized by the music and voices!

Well sung, acted, and staged - greatly enjoyed...

by PrefersComedyToTragedy on 5/17/10Keller Auditorium - Portland

The voices were incredible, the acting was fluid and comic. The staging enhanced and didn't detract from the opera. It's also the first time I've been to an opera with subtitles (provided by a easy-to-read electronic display above the proscenium arch of the theater. It really helped to highlight the comic timing in song and movement among the company.
