About

With a delicate country twang that plays perfectly with the indie rock sound, Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses will murmur his emotionally complex songs to intimate rooms of thousands when the band begins its "Acoustic At The Ryman" Tour in early 2014. The group, originally called Horses, is known best for its melancholy lullaby-like “No One’s Gonna Love You” and the more anthemic “Is There a Ghost,” though they have several songs pulled from their four albums—"Everything All the Time," "Cease to Begin," "Infinite Arms" and "Mirage Rock"—that have enjoyed critical and popular acclaim. With the latest tour comes an accompanying release, "Acoustic At The Ryman," which pares down the sound even further.

Co-founded by former Seattleites Bridwell and then bandmate Mat Brooke in 2004, the Band of Horses collective has seen several lineup changes, with the current group including Bridwell, Creighton Barrett, Ryan Monroe, Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds. In an unusually democratic move, they collaborate together on song lyrics, instrumentation and show experience to create a lush, confessional sound for each concert and a unique feel for every album. Tickets are on sale now for the February shows. As fans scoop up seats on the West Coast, they are also no doubt replaying the beloved tunes from their significantly more upbeat 2012 album release, "Mirage Rock," which features the songs “Slow Cruel Hands of Time” and “Knock Knock” and isn’t a particularly easy album to play on the road. Bridwell jocularly laments his lack of musician prowess, but it’s clear from his latest works that practice is paying off, and his fans can look forward to many more years of his sweet, sentimental and lyrically complex melodies.

    Awesome show

by Melanie A on 2/15/24Roxian Theatre - Pittsburgh

Show was awesome! We were at a acoustic/electric show. It was amazing. I would absolutely see them again. I know he was sick about a week prior to our show, but his voice was awesome at ours.

    Incredible show!

by Jamie_Lee_Smiles on 2/13/24The Wellmont Theater - Montclair

Band of Horses has been on my Band Bucket List for awhile now, and this show did not disappoint! I loved the acoustic set in the beginning - it was perfection! And then the second set where we just got to rock out... YES!! Seriously, there is a reason this show was sold out. What a fantastic experience!

    Great performance, terrible venue.

by Band of Horses was so good however the venue was oversold, crowded, you could not see the stage and therefore I can tell you now that I would never attend a concert at Baltimore Soundstage again. on 2/12/24Baltimore Soundstage - Baltimore

I would recommend seeing Band of Horses just see them somewhere else.

See Horses, but see them elsewhere.

by Great band, small venue on 2/12/24Baltimore Soundstage - Baltimore

Band of Horses put on a great show. Recommend them highly, but their sound was too big for Baltimore soundstage. After a certain point, all of the musicians mixed together to create one loud din, but this still didn’t dampen a great performance.

Show was fantastic - venue was great but lines were long.

by RK on 2/12/24The Wellmont Theater - Montclair

The show was great. Knowing that Ben had lost his voice just 5 days before, I was nervous that he might still be struggling but there was no need to worry because he sounded fantastic. This show was a 1/2 acoustic, 1/2 electric show that spanned both old and new material. Fortunately, our group was in our seats for the start of the show, but we had friends that were stuck in line for over a 1/2 hour and missed most of the acoustic set. The issue seemed to mainly be in the venue being short staffed and having some silly wristband policy that made things take even longer. I am not sure why the venue didn't communicate with the band and tell them to put off coming on stage until most of the crowd was able to get inside the theatre. Since it was only a 20 or 21 song set, a lot of fans got a very short show. Poor communication in my opinion - but like I said, I was in my seat and got to enjoy the whole show, so I was very happy. This is such an underrated band. They were so tight and sounded terrific. As good as the acoustic set was, the volume and build of the songs played electrically was the highlight for me. Great night!

    Loved It!

by Davideo on 2/12/24The Wellmont Theater - Montclair

I loved this concert! My favorite songs were when there were 3 guitars! They did all of their classics. My only complaint: too loud! Especially in the acoustic set. It could be just me... I'm hoping there's a new album soon!

    Great show but too short!

by MicheleNJ on 2/12/24The Wellmont Theater - Montclair

Saw the band at the Wellmont in Montclair, NJ. The theater was nice and good size…small enough that all seats are good. The show was great, band played well and had great energy but they barely played for 1.5 hours total. I was shocked when the lights came on at 10:20…and there was no encore!

Awesome - Up Close and Personal

by Dgarrity on 2/9/24Dome at Toyota Oakdale Theatre - Wallingford

Great show. Great set list. Standing room GA only which would have been a negative but the show was so good the time fly by without noticing you’ve been on your feet for 3 hours. An Evening with Band of Horses is up there as far as one of the top shows I’ve seen in 50 years.

Excellent intimate show, down to earth lead singer eventhough he was feeling under the weather. Great sound and historic venue.

    one of the best

by Me on 2/2/24The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

This was our first time seeing Band of Horses in concert. Wow. We've seen many shows over the years and this one was amazing. One of the few bands that sounds as great (if not better) in person as they do on their albums. The band had a special rapport with the audience and the mix of acoustic and electric sets was special. Absolutely looking forward to seeing them again in person.
