About

Los Angeles post-grunge outfit Badflower have gained a meaningful reputation for hard-hitting and melodic rock anthems covering themes around mental health and addiction. Comprising singer/guitarist Josh Katz, guitarist Joey Morrow, bassist Alex Espiritu, and drummer Anthony Sonetti, Badflower's tendency to address human vulnerability makes them a powerful example of how the hard rock genre has evolved in the 21st Century.

Formed in Northridge, California, in 2008, Badflower started out under the name the Cartunes with Katz and Morrow meeting in music school. They soon changed their name and recruited Espiritu and Sonetti to round out the lineup. After gigging around Los Angeles, Badflower found the attention of former NSYNC member Lance Bass, who plugged them on his SiriusXM radio show.

In 2013, Badflower released their debut EP, About A Girl. In 2016, Badflower released their second EP, Temper, via Hundred Handed Inc. The EP featured the single "Animal." In 2018, Badflower had a hit single with "Ghost," which unflinchingly discussed subjects like depression and self-harm.

"Ghost" found a significant audience and peaked at No. 11 on Billboard's Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. "Ghost" was also certified Gold by the RIAA. "I was depressed and thinking about self-harm. So I just wrote it," Katz told Loudwire about "Ghost." "I played out the whole scenario and put it into a song because that's what writers do, I suppose. I didn't even know if it was gonna go on the album. I was sorta hesitant to even show it to the rest of my band, but everyone heard it and loved it."

In 2017, Badflower hit the road on the Rock 'N' Roll Now tour alongside Bleeker, Beware Of Darkness and Red Sun Rising. The same year, they began work on their debut studio album, 2019's OK, I'm Sick, which Loudwire named one of the 50 best rock albums of that year. In 2020, Badflower released "30" on Katz's 30th birthday.

Badflower followed up their debut with 2021's This Is How The World Ends, which featured the singles "Family," "Don't Hate Me," "Fukboi," and "Johnny Wants To Fight." Loudwire ranked This Is How The World Ends as the 38th best rock/metal album of 2021. Catch Badflower on tour when they come to a city near you.

Badflower put on a good show. An added treat was the sonically awesome performance of Tigercub!

    Great Show!

by Kenisha on 5/28/23The Underground - Charlotte

Badflower and Dec Rocs both put on great performances! Not only did they sound great, but they also gave off a good energy and had the crowd (including myself and everyone in my group) excited and jumping. I had a great time!

    Good performances but….

by So many concerts so little time on 5/28/23The Underground - Charlotte

I drove 2+ hours primarily to see Tigercub perform. All indications from LiveNation and The Underground (venue) indicated no changes to the lineup. In fact both were still showing Tigercub set to perform. Imagine my disappointment to find out they were in another city. To make matters worse, even though all the info stated doors at 7, show at 8, the replacement band Killakoi went on at 7:30. I arrived at 7:50 and caught only the last 2 songs. Badflower and especially Des Rocs were great but shame on LiveNation and The Underground not making any announcements about the change to the lineup and show start time.

Overall a great show and venue

by Devyn on 4/2/23House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

There isn’t a song you want to hear that won’t get played. You’ll get everything you paid for and more. Great energy from all performers and they all sounded great!

    Concert was SO much fun

by Celeste on 4/1/23Mars Music Hall - Huntsville

Show was amazing. Blood Red Shoes, Des Rocs and Bad Flower absolutely killed it. My one gripe was with the venue itself. The VBC has multiple things going on each day but parking near the Mars Music Hall didn’t open until around an hour and a half before the event. I had to drive around for 20 minutes because there is literally no where in downtown Huntsville you can park for a short while without paying. Despite that it was nice you don’t have to pay for parking in cash.

by Chloe M on 3/28/23House of Blues Houston - Houston

Go see them. You won't be disappointed. I held out from seeing them for a few years because I had doubts for no reason. They are literally one of the best shows and play hella good.

    Sadly no experience

by Gizzyleeza on 3/28/23House of Blues Houston - Houston

I went to the event at house of blues downtime excited but sadly did not get to experience the show. The escalater at the venue that takes you to the level the show was on was broken as well the elevator was broken . I have health issues that keep me from climbing the several stairs it wpuld have taken me to get to floor. So as much as i love the band the venue it self i will probably steer clear of.

    Really good!

by Shani on 3/28/23House of Blues Houston - Houston

I have to say, the best part about the venue is that the line to get in is in a shaded region! Half an hour into my drive here I realized I forgot to put sunscreen on my back, lol. The bathroom is a close second tho! It was super clean and there were a lot of stalls, and an attendant present as well.

    YOU MUST GO SEE BADFLOWER

by Rach on 3/27/23House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

First of all - the openers, Blood Red Shoes and Des Rocs were awesome! I would've watched a whole set with just them. Badflower KILLED IT! It was one of the best shows I've been to and this is coming from someone who primarily listens to metal. House of blues did great making sure everything went smoothly, I love going to shows here. Will definently be seeing Badflower anytime they return!

    Badflower is the GOAT

by Theboiwiththedragontat2 on 3/27/23House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

The opening bands were very talented and Des Rock is very good at hyping up a crowd. Plus Badflower played a phenomenal set and absolutely nailed it at being a headliner.
